"You should be willing to debate anytime, anywhere.” — Hillary Clinton in 2008....

Debate-Ducking Hillary Clinton in ’08: Candidates Should Be Tough Enough to Debate “Anytime, Anywhere”

THE HILLARY CLINTON campaign is calling the Bernie Sanders campaign’s request for a debate in New York before its primary a “stunt” by a “struggling campaign” — but eight years ago, Clinton was taunting her opponent Barack Obama for not being tough enough “to debate anytime, anywhere.”

In late April 2008, Clinton called for a 90-minute, “Lincoln-Douglas”-style debate with Obama. This was after the Democratic candidates had faced each other in 26 debates — far outnumbering the eight debates that Sanders and Clinton have had this election season.

“Honestly, I just believe that this is the most important job in the world, it’s the toughest job in the world, you should be willing to campaign for every vote, you should be willing to debate anytime, anywhere,” she told the Sioux Falls Argus Leader a few weeks later, as she defended staying in the race. Check out this email...APRIL: Democracy Spring

Friend --
Our democracy is in a state of emergency and it needs you. The 2016 election is already knee-deep in corporate donations, drenched in dark money, and gaining notoriety as the most voter suppression-marred contest in U.S. history. It's estimated price tag? $10 billion!

Bernie is the ONLY candidate who isn't beholden to big money interests, which is why we have launched this political revolution. But to be a successful movement we must also adopt a diversity of tactics which requires us to be on the streets and in Washington.

If the status quo is left unchallenged, this election will most certainly produce a Congress more bound to the masters of big money than ever before. We will once again see little to almost no progress in solving urgent problems facing our nation: costs of college, climate change, income inequality, immigration reform, and mass incarceration. Our people and planet simply cannot afford it.

Together we have already taken the first step--building local grassroots movements across the country for Bernie Sanders. The next step is to use the grassroots movement to put pressure on the establishment. We must say enough is enough to business-as-usual when it comes to elections and demand real reform, and right now that means coming together for a week of mass non-violent action.

Join The People for Bernie Sanders, Avaaz, 99Rise, and a growing coalition of organizations for Democracy Spring — one of the largest American civil disobedience actions in a generation — next April in Washington, D.C.

Over 1250 people have already pledged to risk arrest –will you join us and make history
take immediate action to make the 2016 elections free and fair for all or prepare to send thousands of patriotic Americans to jail.

Before the marchers arrive, we will gather in Washington by the thousands and hopefully millions to greet them.

At that point, either Congress will have to come to its senses and pass the perfectly viable reform bills currently pending, or we will reclaim the People’s House in mass nonviolent sit-ins. We will occupy the dome of the rotunda, the steps outside the Capitol, and march into the offices of our elected officials. We will engage in peaceful civil disobedience for at least five
The plan:On April 2nd, a pioneering group of Americans will embark on a 10-day march from the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia to the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. and demand Congress consecutive days.

Millions of people will watch as Congress puts thousands of disciplined, dignified democracy defenders in handcuffs who are demanding it does its job and protect the bedrock American principle of "one person, one vote".

This mass civil disobedience will be led by Zephyr Teachout, Ben Cohen, Mark Ruffalo and all of you.

It’s time to launch the democracy movement towards victory. We are asking all of you who are part of our political revolution for Bernie to think beyond the 2016 primaries to the election cycle of 2017. A Bernie presidency will need a grassroots movement that is ready to do whatever it takes to force congress to pass laws and make our country work for the 99% once more.

Join the historic sit-in to save American democracy. Whether you plan on risking arrest or not we still need your support.

In Solidarity,
Winnie Wong, and Charles Lenchner

Hundreds of Western New Yorkers Turn Out for 'Barnstorm for Bernie' Sanders Rally

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Hundreds of Western New Yorkers came out for the 'Barnstorm for Bernie' rally Saturday night in Buffalo. It was a call for more volunteers as the campaign gets ready for New York's April 19th primary race.

"Polls change quickly and from what I've seen he's got a surprising amount of support upstate. So I think he's got a real chance to win New York if the organization and the ground game are real good," said Buffalo for Bernie Lead Organizer Brian Nowak.

Volunteers will be asked to knock on doors, make phone calls and talk to their neighbors about voting for Bernie Sanders. A panel of guests at the rally spoke about the direction of the country and how they believe Bernie Sanders is the only candidate that can speak for average Americans.

"The thing that I like about Bernie is that, we're not looking for the perfect candidate. We're looking for the candidate that can see errors and how a plan needs to be changed," said Katrinna Martin-Bordeaux, a Black Lives Matter Activist and member of the Young Black Democrats of Western New York.

"If America would have acted on the policies recommended by Cruz, Trump and Rubio, their parents would have never come to the shores of this country. Shame on them," WNY Muslims Founder Faizah Haq said.

Currently Bernie Sanders trails opponent Hillary Clinton in the Democratic delegate count.

The next primary race for Sanders and Clinton will be held on April 5th in Wisconsin followed by Wyoming on April 9th.

Dinner with George Clooney

Email from Bernie...

Xxx -

In the movie Oceans 11, a gang of lovable thieves successfully heist $150 million from a vault in the basement of the Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Fueled primarily from high-dollar donations, Hillary Clinton has raised more than that in this campaign, and is now enlisting the support of George Clooney (Danny Ocean) to pad that total at a dinner event that will cost people up to $353,400 to attend.

Now, most of us can agree that is an obscene amount of money. It’s a sum that would require an employee making the federal minimum wage to work 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, for more than 5 years.

This is what we’re up against in this campaign, and why it’s so impressive we’ve held our own raising $5, $10, $27 at a time from working Americans. But with three critical caucuses just a day away, we have to ask:

Your contribution to our campaign will help us win three critical caucuses tomorrow, and send a message that you have had ENOUGH of billionaires buying our elections.

Here is the truth: while tens of millions of Americans are struggling to put dinner on the table, the wealthiest people in this country have never had it so good. And the great question of this campaign is will we restore a vibrant democracy in this country, or will we slide into an oligarchy in which the economic and political life is controlled by a handful of billionaires?

That is our fight, and why your contribution is so important.

In solidarity,
Jeff Weaver
