Gov. Fallin does it again: Oklahoma Will Charge Customers Who Install Their Own Solar Panels

http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2014/04/16/3427392/oklahoma-fee-solar-wind/

Oklahoma residents who produce their own energy through solar panels or small wind turbines on their property will now be charged an additional fee, the result of a new bill passed by the state legislature and expected to be signed into law by Gov. Mary Fallin (R).

On Monday, S.B. 1456 passed the state House 83-5 after no debate. The measure creates a new class of customers: those who install distributed power generation systems like solar panels or small wind turbines on their property and sell the excess energy back to the grid. While those with systems already installed won’t be affected, the new class of customers will now be charged a monthly fee — a shift that happened quickly and caught many in the state off guard.

“We knew nothing about it and all of a sudden it’s attached to some other bill,” Ctaci Gary, owner of Sun City Oklahoma, told ThinkProgress. “It just appeared out of nowhere.”

advice for first time home buyers.

When my inheritance money comes ( we are being told anytime now--I am thinking 3 to 6 months.) my wife and I are going to buy our first home and probably only home. We have no kids just 3 cats, her and me.

We have no clue what to do or where to begin. Do we start with a wish list of things we want?

My Ideal list:

2 bathrooms

2 bedrooms

SMALL YARD

CENTRAL AIR

My wife on the other hand has this little list

Her ideal wish list:

3 bedrooms

Bathroom- WITH Storage

Kitchen -- WITH STORAGE

she really wants central air

main floor laundry ( my wife worried about basements with possible mil drew or mold with her health history.) and I think she is tired of me not getting whites white like she would.

She is hoping for a small man cave/game room ( she will use the xbox once in a while) in one bedroom

She wants one guess room and I told her we won't need that. It is her and me. Her mom will probably never speak to us again because we are moving an hour and a half from her... and my family is in Washington.

Ideally there is a bonus room she can make into a cat room for the 3 we have like a play room litter area and feeding area.

Built-ins if and when possible

Again this will be in the western PA area. it is reasonable to have houses between the range of $40,000 to $60,000

I worry about how the whole annual tax works so I want something VERY low

I am not handy at all and my wife is a limited MacGuyver so no fixer ups/ handyman specials.

so any info or suggestions would be helpful. We are just scared and have no idea what to expect. We just heard the term closing cost...

My step mom who has rented a property and who has worked in the home loan area suggested getting a good contractor, plumber and electrician to look over the home before buying because a inspector's packet doesn't always tell you the hidden money pit.

Do they still do that tax break or give you money for buying a house?

Friends of ours are doing taxes at the last minute and they bought a house in 2013 and I am curious about it because it looks like my wife and I will be able to start looking for a house soon and I know a while back they offered some sort of tax refund for first time house buyers and I wondered if they still have that or if they got rid of that idea.

Orange Is The New Black’ Star Duped Into Narrating Film That Says The Sun Revolves Around The Earth

http://thinkprogress.org/culture/2014/04/08/3424505/kate-mulgrew-duped/

The newly-released trailer for The Principle promises film audiences commentary from prominent scientists and features the recognizable voice of former Star Trek: Voyager star Kate Mulgrew narrating. But while the onetime Starfleet captain announces that “everything we think we know about our universe is wrong,” it appears that everything she and several of the world’s top cosmologists thought about the film was also incorrect: they now say they were tricked into participation in a film on the widely-debunked geocentrism theory (that the Earth is, in fact, the center of universe and that the sun really revolves around it).

On Monday, Raw Story reported that the film, funded by noted geocentrist and Holocaust skeptic Robert Sungenis, featured narration by Mulgrew — a staunch Democrat and a star of the Netflix hit Orange Is The New Black.

Soon, it became clear that the trailer — if not the film itself — was a misleading cut-and-paste job, relying on out-of-context clips and contributions by people who were not aware of the film’s true point.

Tuesday morning, Dr. Lawrence M. Krauss of Arizona State University tweeted that he had not consented to participate in the film and strongly opposed its message: “For all who asked: Some clips of me apparently were mined for movie on geocentricism. So stupid does disservice to word nonsense. Ignore it.”

My question is how do these people get dupe?

Imagine if the Government took 100 Billion from the defense budget and invested in the 99%

the country.

Imagine unemployment wages being covered.

School buildings and education

hiring people to fix roads and bridges

Wouldn't that help to jump start this economy and it might help to jump people into a better wage and better quality of life.

Edit Note: Please keep in mind the latest reports show that the U.S. spends 600 Billion on defense and our "Enemy" China spends a grand total of 59 Billion.

My wife is watching A Face in the Crowd on TCM right now and that movie gave my wife a new

respect for Andy Griffith as an actor. She personally believes that this was his best work and wondered why he never did a movie like that again.
