I'm out of hearts to give.

For those that may have been missed this time around, you got under my radar somehow. I wish I could have given every single DUer one, even (especially?) the ones I don't get along with.

So here, I hope this is a somewhat suitable fix, for now

Have a beautiful day.

I have a request.

When a Lounge thread makes it to the Greatest, can Elad make the title of the thread flash and maybe have a big(gish) flashing arrow pointing to it? It would also be nice if the author received some sort of acknowledgment, maybe a special title or something.

We get so little respect in there and few take us seriously, it would be nice to know that we're loved and stuff.

Today's honor would obviously go to Mr. Scorpio, the man and the legend.

There are times...

...that jury duty makes me wanna cry.

I just needed to vent. Thanks for listening. I'm going to go bang my head against a wall.

I forgot to wish your little one a speedy recovery! I don't envy you. The earache years are horrible.

Is it just me?

Let me start by saying that I'm a woman.

I had a conversation with my husband not too long ago about female comediennes. Why is it I don't realize how attractive (or downright gorgeous) they are until I see them out of their element (like in a hair dye commercial)?

I've noticed this mostly with Saturday Night Live women. It took me years to realize that Tina Fey was freakin' beautiful. I'd name more, but I'm horrible with names and will only remember them when I see their pictures.

To make it more 'interesting', I don't do this with male comedians. If a male is attractive, I see it right away. Do guys do this, but reversed? Am I a bigot? Sexist? A horrible person?

I'm going to have to wait until at least Tuesday...

...to find out what taterguy posted in AtA. And then, only if it was something Skinner wasn't confused, insulted, or disturbed by.

The anticipation is way too much for a Friday afternoon.

Anyone have a guess?

My Nightmare with the ACA and How I Got My Pony

Okay...I started trying to get coverage from day 1. Got through on day 3. Have been fighting through it since. 3 weeks ago, I started over...YAY!!! Successssssssss...oh...wait.

None of the plans offered had providers in my County. That is COUNTY. Not city. It's a big county. Maricopa is a two hour drive, through the mountains. I can't do that. I tried and tried, live chat, emails, etc. Today, I took time off and called. She was not helpful. Tried live chat, again. This woman (Carly) was determined to figure it out. It was INSANE that there was no coverage in my county!

She gave me some helpful tips (45 minutes worth) and then I emailed my county Health Dept. HOLY CRAP! They emailed me back in 15 freakin' minutes with answers! No, most of the companies offering plans through the exchange DO NOT cover our county, BUT, two of them do, they just don't have accurate listings. PLUS, many more providers will be added to these two plans in the next few months. FREAKIN' WOOT!!!!

I was honestly in tears earlier. I haven't had insurance in 13 years. I wanted, no...needed this. Long story miniscule, they wanted $1200 for just me plus a rider that nothing would be covered. The $1200 was just for the pleasure of carrying a card in my wallet. Today, I FINALLY signed up for $75. Not the Caddy Plan I had back in Chicago, but I won't have to die a slow and agonizing death at home because I'm uninsured.

So, thank you, Mr. President, good people of the US, County Health Dept., Carly from Live Chat, and finally...HealthNet...for my new Insurance Pony.

Big, big word of advice, verify your providers!

P.S. This isn't a hit and run post, but I'm freakin' starving and am taking the rest of the afternoon off to eat and lay my weary head down (flu recovery).

Tears of faith in humanity.

Not sure that's a real thing, but that's what I shed after reading a few of these.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season. If you're alone, no you aren't.

H&M Needs a Geography Lesson

How does this shit even happen??

http://chicagoist.com/2013/11/22/one_shot_hm_needs_a_geography_lesso.php

Edit for text for sufferers of clickophobia:

That is Willis (Sears) Tower to the left of the topless woman in the image, which is definitely not in Los Angeles. Rost is right: H&M does need a geography lesson. Lucky for them they should have this corrected in time before people who bought these shirts need to replace them when the originals fall apart after three to four washes.

To Rec or Not to Rec...that is the answer

I just tried to 'rec' a reply to an OP. Once again, I was frustrated at the inability to do so. But, it got me thinking.

We don't 'rec' much here in The Lounge. I often thought that was odd, but then the other voice in my head said that it was possibly a good thing. There is no competition in here. Out 'there' we fight for acknowledgement of our thoughts and rants, here...it's all about toilet humor and kitties. You can't pit those two categories against each other for mere points. They're both very personal and no amount of recs or no recs can change that.

Once again, Lounge, you set the standard for which all of DU should aspire to. That sentence is awful, but it's almost the end of the day and I'm not going to attempt to make it better.

Cheerio and hip hip. (Or, is that 'pip pip'?)

P.S. I will still continue to 'rec' Lounge posts, if only to be that silent voice. A whisper in the abyss. A number...just a number. I can't wait to go home.

I apologize for the evil I have unleashed upon the world.

My son posted this in response to my post calling him and my husband grinches.

Santa is an un-healthy criminal! Breaks into yer house and steals milk and cookies, and then leaves either gifts or coal dependent on your behavior for the year, like its ok to break into someone's home at night while they sleep, steal shit but leave something in it's stead! Then all those milk and cookies he eats has got to be makin him diabetic after all these years! Only a matter of time before the fat jolly bastard loses a foot! And why should the poor kids that hadn't been raised right get coal!? Its not their fault they dont know better! How about getting the parents audited by the irs!? Fitting punishment for bad parenting i think!

I'm so sorry.
In my defense, he did spend 9 years in the Marine Corps, so they're partially to blame.

Dear Santa, if you're reading this, he really is a good kid. He's an amazing husband and the best son anyone could ask for. He apparently just thinks your way of doing things is suspect. Oh, and that you should go on a diet.
