Autumn Crisp

No work today, so my partner and I took our show on the road. This photo was my reward. No post processing except for a little sharpening, otherwise it is as it was straight out of the camera.

Happy Saturday!

Here's a photograph that my parter took while we were traveling at over 55 mph!

I am not a sheepdog

&feature=share&list=UU1g6qVecwvA-M2T0TJ9UIZg

Solid video on, what I have personally seen to be, the mindset of the average concealed carrier and the use of firearms for self-defense.

Remember, It's not a police badge, it's a license to carry for your own protection.

Where do you stand?

I believe that the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution protects our right to keep and bear arms. I believe that the original intent of the 2nd is just as valid today as it was all of those years ago. The right of the individual to keep and bear arms for personal protection, and as a last resort to rebel against a tyrannical .gov.

What do you believe?

Sometimes the issue is getting rid of the orange.

I know this months contest is about orange and what not, but there is a lesson here somewhere about light.

The wrong color light can ruin your color photograph, but it doesn't have to be final. There are ways to fix these aberrations.

You can:
1. Go black and white in post.
2. Get in there and fix it by hand.

There was some hideous orange light coming from those horrible tangerine tinted mercury lamps. If the whole frame was lit by these horrors it would be easy to just adjust the white balance from raw to tungsten and get rid of the orange cast (3000-3400k). However, our frame is partially lit by speedlight, which closely matches dayligth (5500k) Thanks to the selective adjustment brush combined with saturation/luminance adjust in Lightroom it came out OK.

Ohio: Buckeyes for Concealed Carry President Uses Handgun to Defend Family

http://ohio.concealedcampus.org/2012/09/17/buckeyes-for-concealed-carry-president-uses-handgun-to-defend-family/
At approximately 7:00 pm Saturday night, Ohio State Students Joe and Amanda Smith were approached by a threatening white male near Westland Mall requiring Joe, Buckeyes for Concealed Carry on Campus President, to use his concealed handgun to defend himself, his wife Amanda, and their sixteen month old son Kyedin.

The threatening male approached their vehicle while Amanda was buckling Kyedin into his stroller and Joe was near the tailgate. He began making cat calls at Amanda as he closed in on her. Amanda and Joe asked him to leave them alone. Joe placed himself between his wife and the aggressor while a panicked Amanda began to remove Kyedin from the stroller and place him back into the vehicle. The male then became belligerent and began issuing threats to Joe.

“He just kept coming, no matter what I said. Then he told me he had a gun and had no problem killing all of us,” said Joe. Joe instructed Amanda to call the police while he engaged the threat. “He kept saying he was going to kill us. He stopped short to answer his phone and told whoever it was where he was and to come help him get this ‘white honky.’”

“I demanded he stop, but he didn’t. When he was about fifteen feet away, I drew my handgun,” Joe explained. “I was prepared to shoot, but didn’t have to.”

Why would you ever want a firearm to protect yourself and your family? I think this story speaks for itself. I think without his personal defense firearm, this situation would have turned ugly quickly.

To all of those who would have disarmed this man: shame on you.

UPDATE:

UPDATE/STATE DIRECTOR’S NOTE:
Some in the anti-self defense community have been publicly questioning the validity of this story. This update/note will address those questions.

I carried a gun today and no one was hurt by it.

I'm starting this post today Saturday 9/15/2012. Just like every other day in Ohio, I'm lawfully carrying a firearm for self and family protection.

I've been lawfully carrying in Ohio and other states since 2005. I'm not a LEO or any type of government agent. I'm an armed U.S. Citizen who's taking advantage of the first human right: the right of self-defense. I've been shooting handguns since I was 12 years old, rifles came much later. My father a life long Democrat and Union Organizer was spooked by the 1994 AWB and decided to buy some firearms, which he trained my family members and I on. I never lost interest and practiced regularly.

Today, I'm carrying my Glock 17 9mm. It hold 17 rounds 9x19mm ammuntion in the magazine + 1 round in the chamber. It sits in a custom made Zlogonje leather holster concealed at the 5 O'Clock position on my waist. Believe it or not, it hides quite well. I carry an extra magazine with me because the most likely thing to break on a semi-auto pistol is the magazine. The extra capacity is a secondary concern to reliable function, but still a comfort.

The ammunition that I carry is 127 grain Ranger T +P+ (improved Ranger SXT/Black Talon), this loading has shown to be very effective in ballistic gelatin (meets FBI 12" penetration standard) and produces quite controllable recoil due to it's relatively light weight.

I'm going to check in every day that I've carried a firearm.....and no one was hurt by it. I encourage others to do the same. No second hand experiences, just your own.

Sikhs Want Their Own Guns After Temple Shooting Massacre

http://www.businessinsider.com/sikhs-want-their-own-guns-after-temple-shooting-massacre-2012-9

While the Sikh religion is known for its commitment to peace and non-violence, some of its members have said enough is enough in the wake of the recent shooting. According to a Fox News story, some Sikhs are seeking to purchase firearms in order to avoid a repeat of the temple massacre.
“I think that being able to legally obtain and carry a gun is the best thing any Sikh can do, especially after 9/11 where there have been over 800 documented cases of harassment and violence against us,” Sim J. Singh, a Sikh who lives in Florida, told Fox.
Sikhs are required by the religion to carry a ceremonial knife at all times for self-defense. The president of the Wisconsin temple apparently tried to fend Page off with a butter knife before he was killed by the gunman.

Sikhs are required by their religion to carry a dagger to defend the innocent. The handgun is the modern day dagger. They now see how big of a soft target they are while they are massed together unarmed in a religious service.

Not only that, but Sikhs have been the target of numerous hate crimes since 9/11.

For some reason people that are dumb enough to engage in hate crimes can't tell the difference between Sikh and Islam. There are some real brainiacs in the hate group pool.

I'm happy to see that people of all religions and ethnicities are taking personal responsibility for their protection and that of their loved ones.

Another Black Man With a Gun...

protecting his family.

http://www.mysouthwestga.com/news/story.aspx?id=786363#.UFC5jY1lSuQ
ALBANY, GA --
An overnight home invasion has two would-be robbers on the run after a homeowner pulls a gun.

Investigators with the Ocilla Police Department say that two men with a shotgun busted into a home in the 600 block of Lincoln Street around 1:30 AM Thursday morning. There they found children asleep in the living room, held them at gunpoint and demanded money.

Officials say that one of the suspects went to the homeowner's bedroom and kicked the door in. The homeowner then pulled a gun of his own and the two men fled without any money.

This man fought off a long gun with a pistol. He didn't even have to fire a shot. These cowards broke into his house and held his children hostage and HE came to their rescue.

When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

If someone broke into your house and held your children at weapon point, wouldn't you want the best means possible of defending them from violent attack?
