HeiressofBickworth's JournalI would love to ask
anyone in favor of impeachment of President Obama how they feel about a President Biden? Just removing Obama from office doesn't swing the executive branch of government to the GOP. Vice President Biden, not Speaker Boner, would become President. So I wonder what the game plan really is -- or are they just so offended by a Black/Democratic President that they have given little thought to the resulting political outcome.
Reminds me of what used to be said about VP Dan Quayle -- that he was H.W. Bush's insurance against impeachment! LOL
In the case of Russia,
I think personal sanctions are better than general sanctions. If those singled out are the Russian Mafia. I recommend last month's Vanity Fair article about the Olympics in Socci. Putin has surrounded himself with people from his KGB days. The assertion is that they are the ones who siphoned off billions of dollars intended for the Olympics infrastructure. Since they are the ones with the money, they should be the ones suffering any sanctions.
The Repubs are desperately seeking
some kind of charges that would fit the definition of causes for impeachment. Ginning up something about "failure to faithfully execute federal laws" might just fit the bill. Even more reason Dems need to get out to vote in large numbers. If Repubs win the senate, impeachment will be right around the corner. The key is to remember that they will do, say, act anything to discredit or eliminate this (Black, Democratic) president.
I rolled the vaccination dice once too often
I have never had the flu and never had a flu shot. So there I was in December in the hospital having kidney stones surgically removed. I was doing quite well up until this point. I was discharged but never made it home. I got very sick in the car on the way so my daughter just turned the car around and I was re-admitted. Evidence suggests that I caught the H1N1 virus in the hospital. To say I was sicker than a dog is a gross understatement. I had pneumonia and a chest full of fluid and then, the cherry on top of the cake, I had congestive heart failure. I am now fully recovered, no evidence of continuing CHF. I DID get the flu shot before I left the hospital and I have it on my calendar to get another one in October. The experience certainly made a believer out of me.
I find it utterly fascinating
that Putin's actions regarding Crimea come on the heels of what could be considered a PR failure for Russia with the winter Olympics. There was all of the press about the failure to timely complete hotels, the filming of events showing poor audience attendance and let's not forget the Vanity Fair article last month about the criminal connections of Putin and how so much Olympic money was siphoned off to criminal enterprises. With invading Crimea and all the muscle flexing that has been going on, it seems that Putin is out to show the world that he is, in fact, a force to be dealt with.
Like Bush illegally attacking Iraq just to show his father up, Putin seems to be serving his personal ego rather than national interests.
Before focusing on Cruz as the most likely opponent,
his eligibility to run for President should be confirmed. He was born in Canada and still has dual citizenship as far as I know. His father is Cuban (was he a US citizen when Teddie was born?). His mother's status is unknown -- she was American but did she live in Canada for fewer than 10 years in order to pass her US citizenship to her son? See: http://www.uscis.gov/us-citizenship/citizenship-through-parents
By focusing on him when his eligibility is in question, we don't spend the time on the wackadoodle policies of other Repubs like Rand Paul and Jeb Bush. So far, I view Cruz as a red herring.
So, in other words: SHOW US THE LONG FORM BIRTH CERTIFICATE.
