MindMover's JournalRipping off the Public of Billions of Dollars Should Land You In Jail, Not Forbes Wealthiest List
It's like the big lie. The bigger and more preposterous the political lie told by a president - and the more it is echoed by administration officials and the corporate media - the more it is considered fact.
The George W. Bush administration was a master at this, under the orchestration of Karl Rove and Dick Cheney. Just think Weapons of Mass Destruction.
So BuzzFlash at Truthout has been hammering away at the teflon coated criminals who not only escape prosecution for ripping off clients and the nation of billions - and even trillions of dollars if you count the Wall Street collapse under Bush - but get lauded as job creators and masters of the universe who are essential to keeping the finances of the world flowing, even while grossly abusing the financial system and committing fraudulent acts that the Bush and Obama administrations won't prosecute (except for some little scapegoat "guppies" .
BuzzFlash at Truthout noted this in recent columns on Barclays and GlaxoSmithKline (the latter which was fined $3 billion for various abuses involving prescribed medications), but where are the criminal prosecutions? Sure Tim Geithner promised after the near crash of the economy, at a time of anger over the Wall Street billionaire titans not being brought to justice, that investigations were ongoing and people should stay tuned. Well, we've stay tuned and there have been no high level prosecutions, let alone charges.

New Obama attack ads will focus on latest comment ....
made in Virginia.... If Youve Got a Business, You Didnt Build That? .....
Of course the ads will focus on this line, however, as usual they will leave out the most important word .... If you've got a business, you didn't build that alone.

Romney Camp Decries ‘Crony Capitalism,’ Can’t Name Single Ethics Reform To Stop It
Mitt Romneys campaign kicked off a new effort on Monday accusing President Obama of engaging in crony capitalism that rewards people who donated to his campaign. But when asked to name one single policy reform Romney would implement that would prevent such corruption, a top surrogate demurred.
I dont think you can do this with one overarching rule, Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli (R) told TPM on a conference call organized by the Romney campaign. It hasnt worked with prior administrations. You really need to elect someone who is committed to weeding it out and not making political bundling the top requirement for a job application.
Cuccinelli repeatedly attacked Obama for appointing bundlers, or top campaign fundraisers, to his administration, but offered no assurance at all that Romney would institute a policy restricting their appointments. Even if Romney did insist on keeping bundlers out of his administration, it would be impossible to tell. Romney, unlike Obama, John McCain and President George W. Bush, wont release a list of his bundlers, according to campaign finance advocates. The only ones publicly disclosed so far are bundlers who are also registered lobbyists, since theyre governed by disclosure requirements. Obama, by contrast, does not allow lobbyists to raise money for his campaign.

FDA approves first pill to help prevent HIV
Source: MSNBC
WASHINGTON The Food and Drug Administration on Monday approved the first drug shown to reduce the risk of HIV infection, a milestone in the 30-year battle against the virus that causes AIDS.
The agency approved Gilead Sciences' pill Truvada as a preventive measure for people who are at high risk of acquiring HIV through sexual activity, such as those who have HIV-infected partners.
Public health advocates say the approval could help slow the spread of HIV, which has held steady at about 50,000 new infections per year for the last 15 years. An estimated 1.2 million Americans have HIV, which develops into AIDS unless treated with antiviral drugs.
With an estimated 240,000 HIV carriers unaware of their status, doctors and patients say new methods are needed to fight the spread of the virus.
Gilead Sciences Inc. has marketed Truvada since 2004 as a treatment for people who are already infected with the virus.

More than 100,000 protest nuclear power in Tokyo
(Reuters) - More than 100,000 anti-nuclear protesters marched through central Tokyo on Monday to voice their opposition to atomic power, racheting up the pressure on under fire Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda.
On the hottest day of the year, protesters forsook their air-conditioned homes to say the country does not need nuclear energy after last year's Fukushima disaster raised concerns about the safety of atomic power.
It was the biggest demonstration since Noda said last month Japan needed to restart reactors shut down for safety checks to avoid electricity shortages that might hit the economy.
"Today temperatures reached record high levels," Noda told Japanese television, as the city sweltered in 36.6-degree Celsius. "We must ask ourselves whether we can really make do without nuclear power."

TELL CONGRESS: DON'T RAISE TAXES ON MIDDLE-CLASS FAMILIES
Congress will soon consider a vote on President Obama's plan to extend tax cuts for middle-class families, and if Republicans in Congress refuse to support it, the majority of Americans will face higher taxes.
This vote shouldn't be a partisan issueit should be about support working families and restoring our economy.
Stand with the President in supporting extending the middle-class tax cut.

Credit bureaus to get federal oversight for first time
Source: MSNBC
Americas credit bureaus are about to get some new scrutiny. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau adopted a rule on Monday that will allow it to keep an eye on the nations credit reporting industry.
Starting September 30th, the agency will monitor the countrys big credit bureaus and conduct on-site examinations to see if these companies are complying with the law. Its similar to what the CFPB already does with the nations big banks.
This is the first time the federal government will be take an active role in trying to clean up an industry that has a reputation for sloppiness and arrogance, consumer advocates say. Until now, no single federal government agency could access all the information necessary to generate a complete picture of whats happening inside these companies. The CFPB will enforce the laws already on the books and write new rules as needed.
Supervising this market will help ensure that it works properly for consumers, lenders, and the wider economy, CFPB director Richard Cordray says in a prepared statement. There is much at stake in making sure it is both fair and effective.

Throw the rabble some crumbs .... this should have been done when credit started ....
It has been obvious to anyone with indebtedness or the need to get credit that this is one of the most corrupt aspects of doing business with bankers ....
