arely staircase's JournalAll the way to the convention
But the fact is, this race is going to go on. The conservatives clearly are rejecting Romney. He is nowhere near getting a majority. And the fact is, once you get beyond Florida, these are all proportional representation states, and hes not going to be anywhere near a majority by April, Gingrich explained to ABCs Jake Tapper Sunday morning. And so this is going to go on all the way to the convention.

now there is an interesting DU meta-theme. it has been described here as our evil counterpart, our inverted doppelgänger. my hat's off to those who go over there and report back, because i just can NOT bring myself to give such a thing a hit.
and if any DUers are going there and causing trouble i am sure it is done much more cleverly than the hamfisted stuff they usually do here. even though i got punked by one last night, he was soon unmasked.
omg today is one month w/o a cig
been using the e-cigs, so i'm still good and addicted to nicotine, but i haven't put any of that other crap in me since dec. 27th.
NPR is playing Stretched on Your Grave by Sinead O'Conner
that really takes me back.
wow, i had a personal goal of never having a post hidden by a jury
but last night i crossed paths with a racist troll (who has now had their posting privileges removed - alled himself Bill O' Rights. Yeah that's right Bill O' started posting some bigotted garbage about non-english speakers, I called him a pendejo and a racista. He managed to get me booted from the discussion, have two of my posts removed and my jury eligibility dropped by ten points before he was sent packing from DU.
Live and learn I suppose.
Obama upbeat after Somalia raid, rising poll ratings and glow of State of the Union address
CHANDLER, Ariz. If President Barack Obama is showing some swagger, it shouldnt be a surprise.
His job approval ratings point to an uptick. The Navy SEAL unit that killed Osama bin Laden just pulled off a daring rescue that Obama authorized in Somalia. Hes fresh off a big speech before Congress, and the Republicans who want his job are criticizing each other probably more than they are Obama.
As he hits the road for three days of travel to important political states, Obama is on a roll

Could someone tell me what this TOS means?
When we are not in the heat of election season, members are permitted to post strong criticism or disappointment with our Democratic elected officials, or to express ambivalence about voting for them. In Democratic primaries, members may support whomever they choose. But when general election season begins, DU members must support Democratic nominees (EXCEPT in rare cases where were a non-Democrat is most likely to defeat the conservative alternative, or where there is no possibility of splitting the liberal vote and inadvertently throwing the election to the conservative alternative). For presidential contests, election season begins when both major-party nominees become clear.
Maybe I'm reading this wrong but it really doesn't jibe with reality here. And maybe this isn't an appropriate place to discuss it. If I'm violating TOS by mentioning it, then I'm sorry.
I teach school for 40 grand a year before taxes.
I have a 2000 dollar deductible on my health insurance- better plans are available but I can't afford them.
My tax rate is about twice Mitt Romney's before deductions and still more than he pays afterwards. I won't argue here the worth of what I do for a living against the importance of his profession - shuffling money around and laying people off. But the fact that I am hit with twice the taxes he is, relative to income, is absolutely disgusting.
Ron Paul Was Implicated In Failed White Supremacist Island Invasion
"In 1981, a lawyer tried to subpoena Ron Paul to testify in the trial of Don Black, a Grand Wizard for the Ku Klux Klan who would later go on to found the white supremacist, neo-Nazi website, Stormfront. Black was charged along with two other Klansmen with planning to violently overthrow the small Caribbean country of Dominica in what they called Operation Red Dog. While a judge refused to subpoena Paul, Don Black would come back to haunt him many years later.
"In 1981 a group of American and Canadian white supremacists lead by Klansman and mercenary, Michael (Mike) Perdue planned on taking over a small West Indian country called Dominica by overthrowing the government and Prime Minister Eugenia Charles and restoring its previous prime minister, Patrick Johns into power. The group planned to create an Aryan paradise in Dominica and make money through casinos, cocaine and brothels."
