you know who used initials? the Nazis, that's who.

ever heard of the 'SS'? Well, they were big time Nazis and they didn't always take the time to write things out. Is that how you want to be? Like a Nazi?

Don't like it?

Tito

I have been rereading Fitzroy Maclean's Eastern Approaches as well as watching several documentaries on Josef Broz (Tito). Though flawed like all people Tito seems like he was a genuinely good man who used the Yugoslav communist state to prevent the kind of violent ethnic division that marked the Balkans before and after his time in power. A leader of a small country that stood up to Hitler and Stalin as well. I think the likes of him are probably too rare in world history. Any excesses he was guilty of in the early years after the war should be put in the context of the region and from about 1950 until his death in 1980 the area probably enjoyed the best years it has ever had un terms of standard of living (both economic and in terms of peace.)
