USAFRetired_Liberal's JournalThis whole thing is birtherism retreaded
This whole election fraud play is just like birtherism, throw out wild crazy accusations...get millions of ignorant people or partisans to believe in it....and they say we need to investigate because a lot of people are concerned
The way the 12 Amendment text reads
Is that the electoral vote is complete and certified and is just informing members of Congress of the results. Probably a relic of how the early 19 century was when we didnt have technology or even the transportation capabilities to know before hand. Nowhere does it say the members can object to what they hear. It would be equivalent to reading sports scores from the newspaper and then saying nope I dont accept that Ohio state beat Clemson.
We do need an election commission to help with integrity
That tackle the following topics
1. Voter suppression efforts
2. False allegations of voter fraud
3. Frivolous election lawsuits
4. Gerrymandering
5. And more
What if Pence
Either decides to open Trump electors from the disputed states or just doesnt recognize the states at all....thats essentially what they wanted from Gohmerts lawsuit, and they were hoping that the judge ruled in Gohmerts favor to give cover to Pence....but now that the suit isnt going anywhere what if he is like fuck it I am just going to do it anyway.....thats what Republicans, especially the Trump administration, does anyway...ignore stuff ....so if he does do that, what can be done?
If anything is unconstitutional about the Electoral Count Act
Its that members of Congress get to object at all....I read both the 12th Amendment and The Act...
the 12 Amendment is straightforward 1. State electors vote in their respective states and send vote to VP 2. The VP opens the vote 3. There is a count of the vote 4. If someone wins the majority of electors then they are POTUS 5. If no one wins a majority then the House (by state delegation) selects the POTUS and the Senate selects the VP...to me, Congress has no role but to hear the votes

The electoral act establishes that one Congressman and Senator can object and if they do then both houses have to vote on that objection. If both houses are split then the objection fails

I wish a Democratic Senator and Congressmen
Would object to some of the states Trump won i.e Texas, Florida, Ohio etc.... on the grounds of voter suppression....For one, voter suppression is actually real...For two, it will show GOP hypocrisy and three it will take away some of the shine that these GOP Senators and Congressmen think that they are getting for objecting on the states that they will object to....man we never seem to be able to go tit for tat with the other side and sometimes you have to
Edit - and four, it would drive Trump mad
Republican message on elections
If we win then there was no cheating, if we lose then there was cheating...also, there could be cheating and no cheating on the same ballot
