This is an embarrassment for America

I have seen and heard a lot of right wingers make this statement or something similar about what is going on in Afghanistan….but they are completely silent on what happened to the Capitol on January 6th…I think the latter was a bigger embarrassment

Last time I checked our domestic situation isn't too nice

For the Media and others to be so up in arms about Afghanistan….seems like we have our own form of Taliban here…A former president who lost an election tried to hold on to power, MAGA idiots stormed the Capitol, idiots don’t get vaccinated or mask up, Republicans trying to take away votings rights and other election tools so that they can steal future elections…

I applaud Biden for this Afghanistan decision

Unfortunately there will be political blow back…And that is why other presidents didn’t make this move, which shows how much courage Biden has…yeah Trump said we were withdrawing but I doubt if he was POTUS that he would have actually gone thru with it because he and the other two were scared of the media pundits and the political consequences. Especially Trump, he hates looking weak and he knew that this was the outcome and he would be scared of looking “weak”

Edit - the easiest political thing for Biden to do along with any POTUS would have to just continue with the status quo and this “ train, advise, assist” mission

The last 20 years in Afghanistan was just a big grift on the American tax payer

Military getting fancy things, military contractors making tons of money, the Afghan government taking money, etc…

The media sure loves war

They were one of the main culprits on how Bush was successful in getting us stuck in Iraq and Afghanistan by constantly broadcasting the positive spin on war….and now that most Americans want out of Afghanistan, they are making it seem like we should stay

I was deployed in Afghanistan in 2013

Specifically in Kabul training and advising their Air Force….and what is happening there was inevitable, whether we left in 2002, 2010, 2013, 2018, now, 2024, 2040 or whenever and regardless if there was a Republican or Democratic POTUS…we were propping this weak military up….me and the others with me use to joke about how once we left that the taliban would take over very quickly….just interacting with people from the Afghan military you could tell that they were very weak and would fold; they were very undisciplined by military standards …hell, even with us there, there were so many of them always going AWOL it doesn’t surprise me that they would do the same with us not there.
