Sources: Trump executive order allowing anti-LGBTQ discrimination is coming soon

Source: lgbtqnation.com

An executive order from President Donald Trump opening up discrimination against the LGBTQ community on the basis of religious belief is expected sometime this week, possibly as soon as today.

Several sources spoke with LGBTQ Nation on the condition of anonymity who have told us that the order will allow for discrimination in a number of areas, including employment, social services, business, and adoption.

From what we’ve heard, the executive order could be far-reaching, and could include: making taxpayer funds available for discrimination against LGBTQ people in social services; allow federally funded adoption agencies to discriminate against LGBTQ parents; eliminate non-discrimination protections in order to make it possible to fire federal employers and contractors based on their sexual orientation or gender identity; and allow federal employees to refuse to serve people based on the belief that marriage should be between a man and a woman, and that gender is an immutable characteristic set at birth, which would impact a broad range of federal benefits.

The order is expected to come in the packaging of so-called “religious freedom,” which argues that someone’s religious beliefs should be enough to prevent them from having to provide goods and services to members of the LGBTQ community if doing so would conflict with said beliefs.

Vice President Mike Pence gained widespread notoriety for his Religious Freedom Restoration Act, passed during his time as the governor of Indiana. He later backpedaled and signed an executive order removing language allowing for discrimination against the LGBTQ individuals...........................

Damn--this crap is getting worse as days go by!

Good summary here:

Trump reportedly on verge of signing anti-LGBT executive order
1/30/17 3:39pm by John Aravosis

...................

Sign the petition and tell Donald Trump in no uncertain terms that homophobia is un-American, and we will not stand for it.................

The new anti-LGBT executive order is expected to be wrapped in the fake language of “religious liberty,” a typical ploy the religious right and other homophobes use to bash LGBT people. Among the possible provisions in the new executive order:

– Letting organizations use federal dollars to discriminate in the provision of social services;

– Letting federally-funded adoption agencies discrimination against LGBT people; and

– Permit federal employees to discriminate against LGBT people based on their opposition to marriage quality and gender identity...

Protesters Grill Democratic Senator About His Vote for Trump’s CIA Chief

At a testy meeting with a crowd of constituents Sunday evening, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., became the latest Democratic senator to face a grassroots backlash for voting to confirm President Donald Trump’s nominee for director of the Central Intelligence Agency.

Whitehouse was one of 14 Democrats who voted last Monday to confirm Mike Pompeo, a fierce Trump ally who largely shares the president’s antagonism towards Muslims and personal privacy, and has strongly suggested that he supports bringing back intelligence gathering techniques that include torture.

Organizers said more than one thousand people showed up at the senator’s town hall, held inside a Providence middle school auditorium, to denounce Whitehouse’s support for Pompeo. The venue hit its capacity of 600 people, leading the overflow crowd to chant for the senator to come outside so they could hear his explanation for the vote.

“You are entitled to an explanation of why I have voted for some of the defense nominees and I will concede right off the bat that I may have been wrong,” Whitehouse told people in the auditorium. His talk was captured in video posted by activist filmmaker Sam Eilertsen and political blogger Steve Ahlquist.

Whitehouse eventually headed outside to talk to the crowd over a bullhorn.

“Why did I vote for Pompeo?” Whitehouse said. “I think that there are a lot of you who may disagree with me on this, and I appreciate it. Sometimes I feel pretty confident, sometimes you need to make a judgment call.”

“He’s a Rubio guy,” the senator continued, drowned out by a chorus of booing. “Sometimes you need to be in a position to say no if something really, really significant happens.”..................

Bruce Springsteen slams Trumps Muslim ban onstage in Australia

.........................................................Performing in Adelaide, Australia, The Boss segued to his 2006 song "American Land" by commenting on Mr. Trump's so-called "Muslim ban," which indefinitely bans Syrian refugees and temporarily prevents immigrants from Sudan, Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Libya and Somalia from entering the U.S.

"Tonight we want to add our voices to the thousands of Americans who are protesting at airports around our country - the Muslim ban and the detention of foreign nationals and refugees," Mr. Springsteen, 67, told the crowd.

"America is a nation of immigrants and we find this anti-democratic and fundamentally un-American," he said. "This is an immigrant song, 'American Land.'"

A verse in the song, which was re-released as a bonus track on the 2012 album "Wrecking Ball," goes: "I docked at Ellis Island in a city of light and spires / She met me in the valley of red-hot steel and fire / We made the steel that built the cities with our sweat and two hands / And we made our home in the American Land."

Mr. Springsteen, who was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom last year, has openly criticized the president in the past...........................................................

Trumps disapproval ratings surge over weekend

The Idiot-In-Chief is setting all kinds of vile records!

Trump’s disapproval ratings surge over weekend
International Business Times

30 Jan 2017 at 12:31 ET

President Donald Trump’s disapproval ratings spiked over the weekend, making him the first president to receive the highest disapproval ratings within the least amount of time,
according to a recent Gallup survey.

The presidential approval study, which has been conducted by Gallup since the Truman administration, concluded that more than half the nation was dissatisfied with Trump only eight days into his term, AOL News reported Sunday. The survey revealed that Trump had a 42 percent approval rating with a 51 percent disapproval rating when it came to his presidential “performance” thus far. Another president that came close to the ranking was former President Bill Clinton, who received a disapproval rating of about 50 percent 152 days into his first presidential term.

Trump carried a 45 percent approval rating within the first few days of his presidency, which began to falter Thursday following the announcement that he had signed an executive order that would greenlight a U.S. and Mexican border wall. Trump’s disapproval rating further climbed over the weekend after he signed Friday an executive order on immigration, which barred refugees and citizens from several “Muslim-majority countries.” In response, protests erupted around the country and thousands arrived at airports across the U.S. to show their support for Muslims, The Guardian reported.
