WASHINGTON – Former Attorney General Eric Holder sharply criticized current Attorney General William Barr for comments he said were "deeply inappropriate for America's chief law enforcement official" and said he was "unfit to lead the Justice Department."
Holder, a Democrat who served as former President Barack Obama's attorney general from 2009 to 2015, said in a Washington Post op-ed published Wednesday night that almost "since the moment he took office," Barr's "words and actions have been fundamentally inconsistent with his duty to the Constitution. Which is why I now fear that his conduct – running political interference for an increasingly lawless president – will wreak lasting damage."
The former attorney general said he was "reluctant to publicly criticize my successors" but "Barr has made a series of public statements and taken actions that are so plainly ideological, so nakedly partisan and so deeply inappropriate for America’s chief law enforcement official that they demand a response from someone who held the same office."

PALM BEACH, Fla. – About four months before Donald Trump Jr. went to Mongolia in August, where he reportedly managed to get a coveted permit to kill a threatened-species of sheep after he shot and killed the animal, the Mongolian ambassador and foreign minister visited Mar-a-Lago.
Whether Trump Jr., who was also at Mar-a-Lago celebrating Easter with his children that weekend, met with the Mongolian officials and discussed the hunting trip is not known. Trump Jr. could not be reached for comment, and the Mongolian Embassy in Washington did not respond to questions about the Mar-a-Lago visit.

However, an investigation by ProPublica released Wednesday found that Trump Jr., an avid big-game hunter, received special treatment from the Mongolian government. According to the report, permits to hunt argali sheep are controlled by “an opaque permitting system that experts say is mostly based on money, connections and politics.”
Trump Jr. received the permit on Sept. 2, after he left the region following the hunt, according to ProPublica?s report. Trump Jr. also met with Mongolia’s president, Khaltmaagiin Battuiga, before the leaving the country, according to the report.

President Donald Trump went on an early morning Twitter rampage Thursday, with dozens of furious tweets and retweets attacking targets ranging from former law enforcement officials, House Democrats, and 16-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg.
Vox.com’s Aaron Rupar did a tally of all the president’s tweets and found that he had posted 68 times as of 8:52 a.m. Since then, the president has blasted out four additional retweets, bringing his post total to more than 70 before 9 a.m.

President Trump, 73, has hit out at 16-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg in an apparent fit of rage after she beat him to be named Time magazine’s Person of the Year. Trump described the decision, which was announced Wednesday, as “ridiculous” in an incredibly petty Thursday morning tweet. The president wrote: “Greta must work on her Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Greta, Chill!” Trump has long been obsessed with Time’s Person of the Year—in 2012, he tweeted: “I knew last year that TIME Magazine lost all credibility when they didn’t include me in their Top 100.” In 2015, when he was a candidate for president, Trump reacted angrily when German Chancellor Angela Merkel won the honor, and fake Time covers showing Trump as Person of the Year have previously been found hanging in at least five of his golf clubs.
Following Trump's tirade, Thunberg changed her Twitter bio to: “A teenager working on her anger management problem. Currently chilling and watching a good old fashioned movie with a friend.”

During the rally, Trump revamped his usual “FBI lovers” attack by baselessly claiming that the “FBI lovers” had a “restraining order” to keep Strzok away from Page. Last October, Trump appeared to mock Page and Strzok by making panting noises and creating a fake dialogue between the two about how they hate that “son of a bitch” Trump.
“So FBI lawyer Lisa Page was so in love she didn’t know what the hell was happening,” Trump said Tuesday evening. “Texted the head of counterintelligence Peter Strzok, likewise so in love he couldn’t see straight! This poor guy. Did I hear he needed a restraining order after this whole thing to keep him away from Lisa? That’s what I heard.”
However, Trump admitted that he doesn’t know if the supposed restraining order is real.
“I don’t know if it’s true,” Trump said. “The fake news will never report it, but it could be true.”
After pointing out the reporters who were gathered in the back so that the audience could audibly boo them, Trump repeated the baseless claim and gave yet another convoluted explanation for it........................................

The president's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., reportedly shot and killed an endangered sheep in Mongolia before receiving a permit from the Mongolian government.
A ProPublica report published Wednesday found that Trump Jr.'s recent hunting trip to Mongolia in August resulted in the president's son shooting and killing an argali, a species of sheep listed as endangered and which requires a permit to be hunted legally.
Trump Jr. was not offered a permit for shooting the animal until after he left the region, according to ProPublica, raising questions about whether he received special treatment.
The White House declined a request for comment from The Hill, and a spokesman for Trump Jr. told ProPublica that the trip was a personal excursion won at auction before Trump announced his candidacy in 2015.
Trump Jr.'s spokesman added that the permit was obtained “as is standard in the industry" through a third party.............................

Ted Lieu undergoes surgery following chest pain

Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) underwent surgery Tuesday after experiencing chest pain and will be absent from Congress for the remainder of the week.
His office said in a statement Wednesday that Lieu was admitted to George Washington University Hospital Monday evening with chest pain but that tests showed no signs of a heart attack or heart damage. He later underwent a successful stent surgery after a CT scan showed partial blockage of an artery.
“He is in good spirits and plans to be back at work next week,” Marc Cevasco, Lieu’s chief of staff, said in the statement.
“He is now recovering and will likely be discharged from the hospital later today. Congressman Lieu is deeply grateful to all the dedicated professionals at the [Office of Attending Physician] OAP and GW University Hospital,” he added. “He does plan to watch a lot of TV as he recovers.”..............

U.S. prosecutors asked a judge to return Lev Parnas, an associate of Rudy Giuliani indicted on campaign finance charges, to jail for lying about his income and concealing a $1 million payment he got from Russia in September, a month before he was charged.
“Parnas poses an extreme risk of flight, and that risk of flight is only compounded by his continued and troubling misrepresentations,” prosecutors in Manhattan wrote in a court filing on Wednesday.
The request came in response to a motion by Parnas that he be allowed some time each day outside his apartment while he is under home detention.
