Big wins by Trump, Clinton give rivals little breathing room

INDIANAPOLIS (Reuters) - ..................

"I think she's a flawed candidate and she's going to be easy to beat," Trump told a news conference at New York's Trump Tower.

Trump, who is to give a foreign policy speech in Washington on Wednesday, criticized Clinton's record as secretary of state and her vote as a U.S. senator from New York in support of the Iraq war. He said her only advantage was as a woman seeking to become the first female U.S. president.

"Frankly if Hillary Clinton were a man, I don't think she'd get 5 percent of the vote," he said.

Clinton, in a victory speech in Philadelphia, took aim at Trump for accusing her of trying to "play the woman card."

"Well if fighting for women's healthcare and paid family leave and equal pay is playing the woman card, then deal me in," she said to cheers.
........................................

Clinton's strong showing in the Democratic race added to the pressure on Sanders to get out of the race or ease his criticism of her.

In her speech, Clinton gave a nod to Sanders and spoke of the need for party unity.

"Whether you support Senator Sanders or you support me, there is much more that unites us than divides us," she said.

Clinton's victories on Tuesday gave her 2,141 delegates, according to the AP, pushing her closer to the 2,383 needed for the nomination. Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid told reporters earlier on Tuesday he did not think Sanders, a U.S. senator from Vermont, had a realistic path to winning the nomination......................

After tonight's wins for Clinton, Sanders would need 107% of remaining delegates at stake in order to win the nomination.

Poll: Hillary Clinton's "millennial problem" disappears against Donald Trump

Young voters have overwhelmingly backed Bernie Sanders throughout the Democratic primary, leading to endless speculation that Hillary Clinton will face a big "millennial problem" come November.

A new poll out today, however, suggests that Clinton would do more than just fine with young people in a general election. Clinton leads Donald Trump by a whopping 36 points among people ages 18 to 29, according to a Harvard Institute of Politics study released on Monday.

Hillary Clinton Terrifies Republicans By Bringing Democrats Together In Victory Speech

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton made her first move to pull the Democratic Party completely together by sending Democrats on a common mission against the GOP.

Video:

Clinton said:

I applaud Sen. Sanders and his millions of supporters for challenging us to get unaccountable money out of our politics and giving. Greater emphasis to closing the gap of inequality, and I know together we will get that done. Because whether you support Sen. Sanders, or you support me, there’s much more that unites us than divides us.

We all agree that wages are too low, and inequality is too high. That Wall Street can never be allowed again to threaten Main Street, and we should expand Social Security, not cut or privatize it. We Democrats agree that college should be affordable to all. Student debt shouldn’t hold anyone back. We Democrats agree that every single agreement should have good and quality affordable healthcare.

We agree that our next president must keep our country safe. Keep our troops out of another ground war in the Middle East. And we Democrats agree that climate change is an urgent threat, and it requires an aggressive response that can make America the clean energy superpower of the 21st Century.

And we Democrats agree on defending all of our rights, civil rights, and voting rights, workers rights, and women’s rights, LGBT rights, and rights for people with disabilities. So in this election, we will have to stand together and work hard to prevail against candidates on other side who threaten all those rights and pit Americans against each other..
