Bernie Sanders Money-Raiser Hit With FEC Violations Again

The fund raising machine for Bernie Sanders is in trouble again with the Federal Elections Commission (FEC). In a 95-page notice addressed to Susan Jackson, Treasurer of Bernie 2016, the entity is cited for campaign finance violations in four areas.

The notice covers activity for January 2016 and comes just two weeks after the FEC cited Bernie 2016 for violations in the first months of his presidential campaign.

Areas not meeting full disclosure requirements of federal elections law include the following:

Incorrect Totals on the Detailed Summary Page
Excessive contributions that exceed campaign donation limits set by law.
Prohibited contributions from foreign nationals.
Prohibited contributions from organizations which are not registered PACs.

It fails in basic accounting tasks and in monitoring excessive and prohibited contributions. .......................Her appearance was a show of force among the state's political leadership, with Gov. Jack Markell, U.S. Rep. John Carney, U.S. Sen. Tom Carper and U.S. Sen. Chris Coons appearing on stage. All four, who are influential superdelegates, have pledged to vote for Clinton.

"There is nothing that faces our country in this dangerous, difficult and divided world that will surprise her," Coons said before Clinton spoke. "This is a woman fully capable of being one of the greatest American presidents starting from her first day."

Ben Shalk, from Smyrna, Delaware, arrived at 7:45 a.m. to see Hillary Clinton in Wilmington.

Payne said she regrets the divisions that have arisen in the U.S. during recent years and believes Clinton can bring together a broad coalition of people in her administration if she becomes president. She said Clinton challenger U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont is wrong for the country.

Nationally, Hillary Clinton's delegate and superdelegate lead stands at 1,941 to 1,191, according to a count by the Associated Press. That puts her at 81 percent of the 2,383 delegates needed to win the nomination.

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) attacked Sen. Chuck Grassley (R., Iowa) Monday for his role in the Hillary Clinton email investigation, again suggesting he was responsible for leaking a Clinton staffer’s personal information and accusing him of an “obsession” with Clinton.

“It’s wrong for any senator, especially the chairman of the Judiciary Committee who deals with these issues day after day, to urge the selective leaking of any federal investigation,” Reid said. “Remember, there’s been a lot of speculation under Chairman Grassley’s leadership that personal information of a Clinton staffer was leaked to the press, including payroll records and a social security number.”

Reid didn’t use her name this time, but it appeared he was bring up an old accusation regarding leaks about Huma Abedin, Clinton’s trusted confidante. The Hill reported in December:

“Press reports have suggested that the Republican Judiciary [Committee] staffers are selectively leaking confidential information,” the Democratic leader said. “Republican investigators on that committee cannot stop their fixation on Ms. Abedin, even going so far as to request her maternity leave records, and as a result her personal information including her social security number and payroll records have been given to the press.

”

Reid blasted Grassley for suggesting last week that the FBI could leak information about the investigation if it felt political interference was occurring to protect the Democratic presidential frontrunner, calling it a “new low.” Reid said Grassley had “encouraged the FBI to join the political crusade against Secretary Hillary Clinton.”.................

Controversy over Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server has hounded her throughout the primary season.

Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley suggested that the FBI may leak reports of its investigation into presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server as secretary of state, according to reports.

Grassley, a Republican, appeared to suggest that a leak might be in the future, should prosecution be stymied for political reasons, the Des Moines Register reported.

“If there’s enough evidence to prosecute, will there be political interference?” Grassley wondered Friday during a talk with the Des Moines A.M. Rotary Club.................

Poll: Clinton up 25 points in Maryland

Nearly 6 in 10 likely Democratic primary voters in Maryland support Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders ahead of the state's Tuesday election, according to the results of a Monmouth University poll released on Thursday.

While Clinton earned 57 percent support, Sanders took 32 percent, and 10 percent are undecided between the two candidates. Those results are largely in line with recent polling, including an NBC 4/Marist survey conducted earlier this month, which found Clinton with a similar 26-point edge.

Clinton leads among all demographic groups, including men (59 percent to 32 percent), women (56 percent to 32 percent), black voters (64 percent to 20 percent), white voters (52 percent to 39 percent), voters over the age of 50 (64 percent to 25 percent), and notably, among voters under the age of 50 (50 percent to 39 percent), where Sanders usually thrives.

Regardless of who the Democratic nominee is, 87 percent in the reliably blue state said they would support Clinton over Donald Trump, while 83 percent said the same for Sanders in the same matchup.

Clinton was in Bridgeport Sunday afternoon. It is her third stop in the state ahead of Tuesday's primary.

Speaking at the University of Bridgeport, she talked about making college more affordable and allowing graduates to refinance their student loan debt.

On the subject of health care, Clinton promised to fight any efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act, but she also said there should be a focus on dealing with mental health issues and addiction.

"First of all, we have to save lives, that's number one. But number two, we've got to get beyond this terrible epidemic of addiction that is taking the lives of so many Americans," she said.

The former secretary of state said she would take on the gun lobby and the epidemic of gun violence in America. It was the same theme she discussed at an event in Hartford last Thursday.
