There was spying in the presidential election -- and it was from Trump: Ex-FBI deputy

Source: rawstory

21 May 2019 at 19:17 ET

..............................................

Mudd, himself a former intelligence official at the CIA and FBI, told host Wolf Blitzer that if anyone was spying, it wasn’t the FBI — it was

“Let me tell you something,” said Mudd heatedly. “There was spying and encouragement of spying. It’s a presidential candidate encouraging a foreign adversary to steal information about an American presidential candidate.”

“That’s the American presidential candidate, in this case Donald Trump, saying ‘Hey Russians, where are Hillary’s emails?'” said Mudd. “That’s the president’s son encouraging a foreign adversary, in this case a lawyer, to go to Trump Tower, saying ‘I know there’s stolen information, maybe I’d like to see it.’ That’s a presidential adviser, Roger Stone knowing that there’s stolen information from a server, saying ‘I’m happy to talk to the intermediary, that is WikiLeaks, that will publish that information.'”

“If we want a foreign adversary — and Rudy Giuliani said this was okay, talking about the Russians — if we want a foreign adversary to steal stuff and publish it, let me tell you who encouraged that, that’s the president. That’s stealing. That’s spying.”

Anytime I hear Trump say something bad happened to him, it’s a 100 percent guarantee he’s lying, and that he’s the one who actually did it to someone else.

Classic Trump projection with a dash of outrage and fake concern. The enemy of the ppl is his best projection. He actually thinks he is pointing a finger at someone else. The key is to view his name-calling as if it were a boomerang; then, follow it to its source.

Alabama Public Television refuses to air 'Arthur' episode with gay wedding

Alabama Public Television refuses to air 'Arthur' episode with gay wedding
"It would be a violation of trust to broadcast the episode," the director of programming at Alabama Public Television said.

May 20, 2019, 6:08 PM CDT / Updated May 20, 2019, 9:07 PM CDT

Alabama Public Television chose not to air PBS' recent "Arthur" episode that featured a same-sex marriage.

During the animated series' 22nd season premiere, titled “Mr. Ratburn and the Special Someone," Arthur's third-grade teacher, Mr. Ratburn, marries Patrick, a chocolatier, at a wedding attended by his students, Arthur, Francine, Buster and Muffy. It aired May 13.

Mike McKenzie, director of programming at APT, told NBC News on Monday that PBS sent a message to stations in mid-April alerting them "to possible viewer concerns about the content of the program." After he and others at APT viewed the episode, they decided not to broadcast it and showed a re-run instead.
..............

“Parents have trusted Alabama Public Television for more than 50 years to provide children’s programs that entertain, educate and inspire,” McKenzie said in a statement. “More importantly — although we strongly encourage parents to watch television with their children and talk about what they have learned afterwards — parents trust that their children can watch APT without their supervision. We also know that children who are younger than the ‘target’ audience for 'Arthur' also watch the program.”..................................

Trump says he had a great life pre-presidency and didn't know his current life was going to be so difficult because of hoaxes and people who hate him, but he still loves it.

Trump is now falsely accusing unspecified opponents of "treason." There is a Lock Them Up chant. Trump responds that there is a great new attorney general "who's gonna give it a very fair look."

Trump is reciting his usual lines: no to "globalism," yes to "patriotism"; "strong borders, strong families, and a strong national defense"; "the dignity of work and the sanctity of life"; "the right to keep and bear arms"; "the rule of law"; "in God we trust."

There is another medical issue in the crowd. This time, Trump says, "I don't know what this does to television, but that's OK." "But that's OK" is one of the things he says when he isn't happy about something but knows he can't complain about it.

Fox News Host Pete Hegseth Privately Lobbied Trump to Pardon Accused War Criminals

Source: DAILYBEAST

The president isn’t just watching the network, he’s taking policy advice from its morning hosts.

If the president pardons U.S. servicemen accused and convicted of war crimes, you can thank one of Donald Trump’s favorite cable-news hosts.

Over the weekend, news broke that President Trump is preparing to pardon several U.S. servicemen involved in high-profile cases of gunning down civilians or killing detainees, with the White House having already ordered that the necessary paperwork be drawn up ahead of the coming Memorial Day. The news came roughly two months after Trump publicly intervened in what he called “restrictive” confinement conditions of one of the alleged war criminals.

At the heart of both these moves has been a months-long lobbying campaign by Pete Hegseth, a Fox & Friends co-host and a buddy and informal adviser of the president’s.

Since as early as January, Hegseth has repeatedly pressed the president to support the accused and convicted servicemen. Among those Hegseth—himself an Iraq War veteran and formerly the head of the conservative group Concerned Veterans for America—has advocated for is Special Operations Chief Edward Gallagher, a Navy SEAL platoon leader set to stand trial on May 28 for allegedly shooting civilians, including a school-age girl, and knifing to death a captured ISIS fighter receiving medical treatment in Iraq in 2017.

According to three people with knowledge of the situation, Hegseth had multiple private conversations on the topic with President Trump over the past four-and-a-half months, with Gallagher’s case among those he pushed. The Fox & Friends host repeatedly told Trump that the process had been “very unfair” to Gallagher, two of these sources tell The Daily Beast. Hegseth pushed the president not only to publicly help Gallagher, but since at least March has specifically advised Trump to pardon him and the other men, the sources said.........................

Kamala Harris would toughen penalties on employers who underpay women

she is talking about this right now on The Beat-msnbc

Women shouldn't bear the burden to prove they're not being paid fairly. It's time for large corporations to step up and prove they're paying people equally for equal work.

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) campaigned Sunday at Los Angeles Southwest College. The presidential candidate has a new proposal that would require companies to obtain a federal certification showing they are not underpaying women or face a fine. (Allen J. Schaben / Los Angeles Times)

Democratic presidential hopeful Kamala Harris released a plan Monday to overhaul U.S. discrimination laws to ensure women and men are paid equally for the same work.

Companies would be required to obtain a federal certification showing they are not underpaying women, under Harris’ proposal. Those that fail to do so could be fined billions of dollars.

Employers would have to show that any gap in pay between women and men is based on merit, performance or seniority. Companies that discriminate against women would be fined at 1% of their average daily profits for every 1% gap that exists between the pay of male and female employees doing the same job.

The junior senator from California provided the broad outlines of the proposal Sunday at a rally of roughly 1,000 supporters at Southwest College in South L.A. She told them that women who work full time are paid on average 80 cents for every dollar paid to men; for black women, 61 cents; and for Latinas, 53 cents.

President Donald Trump has directed former White House counsel Don McGahn to defy a congressional subpoena and not testify Tuesday, current White House counsel Pat Cipollone said Monday.

In a letter to House Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., Cipollone wrote that the Justice Department "has advised me that Mr. McGahn is absolutely immune from compelled congressional testimony with respect to matters occurring during his service as a senior adviser to the President."

He added, "the President has directed Mr. McGahn not to appear at the Committee's scheduled hearing" on Tuesday.

McGahn had been subpoenaed by Nadler's committee to answer questions about Mueller's investigation of President Donald Trump and Russian interference in the 2016 election. The Justice Department, in a legal opinion made public Monday, said McGahn could not legally be compelled to testify, citing the principle of the separation of powers.

Sources close to McGahn say they have received the Justice Department's legal opinion and a letter from the White House instructing McGahn not to testify, which are being reviewed.

16-Year-Old Dies in U.S. Border Patrol Custody, the Fifth Migrant Child Death Since December

Source: Time

By NOMAAN MERCHANT / AP 1:01 PM EDT

(HOUSTON) — The U.S. government says a 16-year-old Guatemalan died Monday at a Border Patrol station in South Texas, the fifth death of a migrant child since December.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in a statement that Border Patrol apprehended the teenager in South Texas’ Rio Grande Valley on May 13. The agency says the teenager was found unresponsive Monday morning during a welfare check at the agency’s Weslaco, Texas, station. The cause of death is unknown.

The agency did not say why the teenager had been detained for a week, but said he was “due for placement” in a facility for youth operated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Federal law requires the Department of Homeland Security to send minors unaccompanied by a parent or legal guardian to HHS within 72 hours of determining that the child is unaccompanied..................................
