Trump 'furious' about 'underwhelming' crowd at Tulsa rally

Source: nbc news

"This was a major failure," one outside adviser said.

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump is "furious" at the "underwhelming" crowd at his rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Saturday evening, a major disappointment for what was expected to be a raucous return to the campaign trail after a three-month hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to multiple people close to the White House.

The president was fuming at his top political aides on Saturday even before the rally began, after his campaign revealed that six members of the advance team on the ground in Tulsa had tested positive for COVID-19, including Secret Service personnel, a person familiar with the discussions said.

Trump asked those around him why that information was exposed and expressed annoyance that the coverage ahead of his mega-rally was dominated by that revelation.

While the Trump re-election effort boasted it would fill the BOK Center that seats more than 19,000 people, only 6,200 supporters ultimately filled the general admission sections of the enclosed arena, the Tulsa fire marshal told NBC News.

..........................

Much of the blame is falling to campaign manager Brad Parscale, who in the days leading up the event aggressively touted the number of registrations, but those close to him stress his job is safe, for now.................................................

Kentucky braces for possible voting problems in Tuesday's primary amid signs of high turnout

I really think mandatory mail voting will have to be put in place. but probably will not see it come to pass.

Kentucky braces for possible voting problems in Tuesday’s primary amid signs of high turnout

Jefferson County election officials prepared the Kentucky Exposition Center to serve as the county’s only in-person voting location for Tuesday’s primary in Louisville, Kentucky. (Jason Dobbins /Jefferson County Clerk's Office)

Fewer than 200 polling places will be open for voters in Kentucky’s primary Tuesday, down from 3,700 in a typical election year. Amid a huge influx in requests for mail-in ballots, some voters still had not received theirs days before they must be turned in. And turnout is expected to be higher than in past primaries because of a suddenly competitive fight for the Democratic Senate nomination.

The scenario has voting rights advocates and some local elections officials worried that the state is careening toward a messy day marked by long lines and frustrated voters — similar to the scenes that have played out repeatedly this spring as the novel coronavirus pandemic has disrupted the 2020 primaries.

Because of a shortage of workers willing to staff voting sites during the health crisis, each of the commonwealth’s 120 counties is opening a very limited number of polling locations. The two largest counties will have just one in-person location each...................

“It’s outrageous that officials are seeking to hold in-person elections in a single location,” said Kristen Clarke, president and executive director of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. “It’s as if Kentucky failed to follow the crisis that unfolded in Wisconsin and Georgia, where officials were woefully unprepared for the turnout on Election Day.”........................

Strained supply chain for glass vials could delay #coronavirus vaccine

If it not one thing, it is another.

Strained supply chain for glass vials could delay coronavirus vaccine
The market for glass is relatively fixed and prone to shocks.

Vaccine for adults likely to appear long before kids

Even though many potential COVID-19 vaccines require different pharmaceutical ingredients and processes, drugmakers the world over have found themselves racing to acquire a key ingredient without which they can't distribute their live-saving drugs: glass.

With at least 11 novel coronavirus vaccines having advanced to clinical trials, companies and governments are working to avoid a life-threatening bottleneck in the supply chain that could prevent the medicine from finding its way into the glass vials used to give patients shots............................

"It could take up to two years to produce enough vials for U.S. vaccine needs, while some therapeutics will also require vials," Bright said.

Such a delay in vaccine production could have disastrous consequences, as more than 450,000 people already have been lost to COVID-19. What's more, a coronavirus vaccine that requires follow-up shots every few years could further stress medical supplies. ...........................

The urgent demand for vials could not only overwhelm the U.S. market but trigger a global shortage, which is why scientists, manufacturers and government officials are sounding the alarm -- and not just for glass. .

At #TrumpRallyTulsa-lots of yawns!! And Trumpy Claims he RAN down the last 10 feet of #Rampgate....

Actually Trump finally took the last step or two in normal stride--instead of the baby steps he was taking down the ramp.

Even those who did show up to #TrumpRallyFail were yawning. He practiced for days to drink water with one hand....they didn’t find that riveting? #EveryonesLaughingAtYouDonald

Radical protestors, fueled by a week of apocalyptic media coverage, interfered with @realDonaldTrump
supporters at the rally.

They even blocked access to the metal detectors, preventing people from entering.

Thanks to the 1,000s who made it anyway!
