Story highlights
Obeidallah: If Trump is serious about keeping blacks safe from gun violence, he should support gun control
Is Trump simply engaging in political posturing or does he sincerely wants to reduce gun violence?
"Dean Obeidallah, a former attorney, is the host of SiriusXM's radio's daily program "The Dean Obeidallah Show" and a columnist for The Daily Beast. Follow him @TheDeansreport. The opinions expressed in this commentary are his."
(CNN)Donald Trump recently began saying he's concerned with keeping African Americans safe from gun violence.
But it's hard to believe he's sincere given that Trump refuses to support the very prescription to do that: Gun safety laws. And unless he talks gun safety measures, it would appear the pundits are correct that Trump's true goal is not to help the black community but rather to persuade white voters uncomfortable with Trump's history of bigotry that he's not a racist.
Over the weekend we saw Trump continue to raise this topic. First, he tweeted after the cousin of NBA star Dwyane Wade was killed by a stray bullet while pushing a stroller down a Chicago street (and misspelled the player's name): "Dwayne Wade's cousin was just shot and killed walking her baby in Chicago. Just what I have been saying. African-Americans will VOTE TRUMP!"

(..........................The NRA's opposition to any reasonable measure that could save lives from gun violence?
Nope. Instead Trump claimed that this gun violence was due to: "Failed Democratic policies -- the policies of Hillary Clinton."................
If he does care about people of color not being killed by gun violence, all he needs to do is follow this simple road map:

So will Trump make it clear that black lives matter more to him than the support of the NRA? We are awaiting his answer......................

Federal data reveals the economic wreckage caused by the large-scale outsourcing of Wisconsin jobs since Gov. Scott Walker and U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson took office. They've aided and abetted multinational corporations in selling out Wisconsin workers for short term profits.
Data kept by the U.S. Department of Labor shows that at least 11,331 Wisconsin jobs have been outsourced to other countries since Walkers scandal-ridden "jobs" agency, the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, was launched July 1, 2011. This is a very low-end estimate of the impact of outsourcing in Wisconsin, because it only accounts for groups of workers who successfully applied for Trade Adjustment Assistance from the federal government by proving their jobs were eliminated because of global trade agreements. It does not account for outsourcing to other states or downsizing. In those cases, it's not possible to prove jobs went to a foreign country or were impacted by global trade deals.
Walker and Johnson have consistently supported a rigged economic system that allows multinational corporations to pit Wisconsin workers against low-wage foreign workers.
Walkers WEDC has consistently refused to hold accountable the corporations that take public job creation dollars and then outsource Wisconsin jobs. The WEDC board has refused to require corporations receiving public dollars to create a net positive number of jobs (i.e. not to outsource and downsize more jobs than they are paid to create)....................

........................Far more likely than an Anderson win this November is a scenario in which he plays spoiler. Feingold has consistently led in polls of the race. But if Johnson draws closer to him as Election Day nears, as many political observers and the campaigns expect, its conceivable that Anderson could tilt the election toward the candidate from whom he poaches fewer supporters.
Stakes in the Senate race are high because Wisconsin is among a handful of states with competitive races the outcomes of which will determine which party controls the Senate in 2017.
Slightly more voters who initially backed Johnson defect to Anderson if given that third option in polls, versus the number of voters who defect from supporting Feingold, according to data supplied by Marquette Law School Poll director Charles Franklin from the two most recent polls in August and July. But despite that and the sizable role libertarians have played in Republican politics in recent years the polls show Anderson pulling nearly equal support from Republican- and Democratic-leaning voters......

WikiLeaks, founded by Julian Assange, is willing to pay for documents related to Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump. Those who take the truth seriously leave no stone unturned to find it, a WikiLeaks spokesperson said.
WASHINGTON ― WikiLeaks, the whistleblowing platform, is planning to offer a reward for documents related to the U.S. election, such as Donald Trumps tax returns or intel on Hillary Clintons relationship with Goldman Sachs, a banking powerhouse that paid her to give speeches. This appears to be the first time the news outlet has publicly announced a financial incentive for information that directly relates to an election.
Police rewards produce results. So do journalistic rewards, a spokesperson for Sunshine Press, of which Wikileaks is a project, told The Huffington Post in an email. Those who take the truth seriously leave no stone unturned to find it.
..........................
Journalism ethics organizations generally frown on paying sources because the practice can undermine editorial independence or encourage sources to provide false information. But the WikiLeaks spokesperson said those concerns dont apply in this case. ................................................
..................Wikileaks founder and editor-in-chief Julian Assange has said he doesnt like either candidate, and that he is willing to publish any newsworthy documents. But its difficult to publish more controversial material than what comes out of Donald Trumps mouth every second of the day, Assange noted recently. That means Clinton could have more to lose from any upcoming Wikileaks publications. (Assange has promised more documents are coming.) ................

The Top Gun Industry Trade Group Just Pledged to Help to Prevent Nearly 10,000 Suicides
Heres why that might be a huge development.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation, the gun industrys top trade group, is partnering for the first time with the leading suicide prevention nonprofit organization in the U.S. The ambitious goal of the collaboration: averting nearly 10,000 deaths over the next decade.
The program, initiated by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, will strive to educate people on the risk factors and warning signs of suicide, and provide guidance on how best to talk to someone who may be considering trying to end his or her own life, says Robert Gebbia, the chief executive of AFSP.
Notably, the program will also recommend blocking family members who are suicidal from accessing firearms by, for example, emphasizing the importance of securely locking guns away. It is not clear whether the AFSP guidance will include specific suggestions about how to remove weapons from potentially suicidal people. The NSSF, which represents thousands of gun dealers and manufacturers, provided input into the program and is also promoting it.
Gun groups have traditionally been reluctant to acknowledge that the presence of a firearm poses an increased risk to people who are considering taking their own lives. Gebbia says buy-in from the NSSF is especially important in persuading people that blocking gun access in certain situations is about saving lives, not depriving people of their rights...........

Trump backer tweets cartoon of Clinton in blackface

Washington (CNN)A prominent African-American supporter of Donald Trump tweeted a cartoon portraying Hillary Clinton in blackface that cast her as pandering to black voters.
Pastor Mark Burns, the Trump surrogate who tweeted the image Monday afternoon, told MSNBC that he stands by it. He later apologized for his comments in a Periscope livestream Monday evening.

Clinton has a long history of activism for racial equality, dating back to the civil rights movement, where prominent leaders such as Rep. John Lewis, D-Georgia, said they met both Hillary and Bill Clinton.
She's discussed systemic racial inequality on the campaign trail, campaigning at times with a group of the mothers of young African-Americans killed by police.

This whole campaign of Trumps is getting more disgusting each day!!
http://www.dailynewsbin.com/news/donald-trump-surrogate-apologizes-for-racist-tweet-about-hillary-clinton/25901/
.....Mark Burns, who identifies himself as a legitimate pastor in roughly the same way that Donald Trump identifies himself as a legitimate politician, tweeted a cartoon depicting Hillary Clinton in blackface today. He then followed it up by retweeting a falsified photograph of Hillary Clinton supposedly appearing in blackface at a party, without acknowledging that it was a fake photo. This caused an immediate uproar. Burns called in to Meet The Press Daily a few hours later, and spent the entire time screaming at host Kristen Welker while demanding to know her ethnicity. And yet somehow neither Donald Trump nor anyone in his campaign saw fit to put a stop to their surrogates meltdown, or to disavow themselves from his psychotic tweet storm.
Now, for reasons known only to him, Pastor Burns has posted a twelve minute video in which he apologized for all of the above. The whole thing appears to have been put together with such haste that even though he was interrupted by phone ringing or a similar noise just twenty seconds into his video, he didnt bother to stop and start over. And yet even know that Burns is admitting he went stunningly overboard, Donald Trump and his campaign still have nothing to say about the matter. This all comes amid the news that Trumps favorability with African-Americans has now fallen to literally zero percent. ......

Hillary Clinton
The Democratic presidential nominees comprehensive plan calls for treating mental health care in the same fashion as preventive and medical care especially among at-risk communities (including ours).
By Sunnivie Brydum
August 29 2016 5:29 PM EDT
Hillary Clintons campaign today released a comprehensive plan to improve access to mental health care in the United States, highlighting the economic and human cost of untreated depression, suicidal ideation, and numerous other conditions.
If it were put into place, Clintons strategy could have a ripple effect for LGBT people, who are not only more likely to struggle with mental health than their straight, cisgender (nontrans) peers, but are also often unable to access competent health care to help them manage these issues.
Perhaps most importantly for LGBT people, Clintons mental health platform calls for federal support for suicide prevention, including a national initiative to combat suicide led by the U.S. Surgeon General and the adoption of evidence-based suicide prevention and mental health programs in high schools, colleges, and universities. The platform directly mentions LGBT people in its pledge to work with schools and experts to ensure that students of color and LGBT students are receiving adequate mental health coverage.
Promising that Clinton will convene a White House conference on mental health during her first year as president, the platform calls for the unification of mental and physical health care, intended to ensure the next generation [grows] up knowing that mental health is a key component of overall health and there is no shame, stigma, or barriers to seeking out care....................
