I am glad to see Kamala Harris in onto this issue.

@SenKamalaHarris
The Trump administration is attempting to violate the Supreme Court’s ruling to preserve DACA. This is flat out wrong.

To our Dreamers: I will never stop fighting for you.

In apparent defiance of court orders, the Trump administration has reaffirmed its cutbacks to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program for young undocumented immigrants: No new DACA applicants will be accepted, and current participants can renew their legal status for only one year instead of two.

Supporters of the program have asked a federal judge in Maryland to hold the administration in contempt of court..............................

Rand Paul calls for FBI arrests after he’s confronted by protesters – claims they ‘would have killed us’ if not for cops

Published 3 mins ago on August 28, 2020

Sen. Paul says he and his wife left the White House and at some point instead of taking a shuttle they decided to walk several blocks to their hotel.

Later, he went on “Fox & Friends,” which told viewers based on the videos it was more like about 30 people, not 100.

Paul, who all by himself for months has been holding up Senate passage of the Emmett Till Anti-Lynching Act – which already passed the House almost unanimously, 410-4 on February 26 – claims he and his wife could have been killed.

“They were inciting a riot and they would have killed us had the police not been there,” Paul told Fox News.

LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) — Just days ago, officials in Louisiana’s Calcasieu Parish voted not to move a Confederate statue from its prominent place in front of the courthouse. Then Hurricane Laura came along and toppled it.

The South’s Defenders Monument was knocked off its pedestal as the Category 4 monster swept through the southwestern Louisiana parish. On Thursday morning it could be seen lying on its side next to its still-standing base — broken tree branches strewn on the grass around it — as a steady stream of onlookers took photos.

Dozens of similar statues are scattered across the United States, mostly in the South, and many are conspicuously located in front of courthouses or in the town square.

Residents against removal argue the monuments are pieces of Southern heritage that are historically educational and honor fallen relatives. But opponents insist they are brutal reminders of slavery and Black oppression. ..............................

Kyle Rittenhouse has been charged with intentional and reckless homicide in Kenosha protest shooting

Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Sarah Volpenhein

Kyle Rittenhouse, 17, has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide and five other charges for the shootings of three people, two of whom died, in Kenosha on Tuesday night.

Rittenhouse was taken into custody Wednesday in Illinois, where he lives in Antioch southwest of Kenosha, and was awaiting extradition to Wisconsin on Thursday.

The charges were filed Thursday in Kenosha County Court in a complaint that details how Rittenhouse used an AR-15-style rifle to shoot and kill Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26, and injure Gaige Grosskreutz, 26, shortly before midnight along Sheridan Road, where protesters went after being expelled from Civic Center Park during clashes with law enforcement.

Even as the Republican convention tries to soften President Trump’s image, he has made it clear that the extreme immigration policies of his first four years will be central to his re-election pitch.

By Michael D. Shear Aug. 26, 2020

WASHINGTON — Fifteen days before the 2018 midterm elections, as President Trump sought to motivate Republicans with dark warnings about caravans heading to the U.S. border, he gathered his homeland security secretary and White House staff to deliver a message: “extreme action” was needed to stop the migrants.

That afternoon, at a separate meeting with top leaders of the Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection officials suggested deploying a microwave weapon — a “heat ray” designed by the military to make people’s skin feel as if it is burning when they get within range of its invisible beams.

Developed by the military as a crowd dispersal tool two decades ago, the Active Denial System had been largely abandoned amid doubts over its effectiveness and morality. Two former officials who attended the afternoon meeting at the Department of Homeland Security on Oct. 22, 2018, said the suggestion that the device be installed at the border shocked attendees, even if it would have satisfied the president.

Kirstjen Nielsen, then the secretary of homeland security, told an aide after the meeting that she would not authorize the use of such a device, and that it should never be brought up again in her presence, the officials said.........................
