Can airports refuse to have #Trumprally's??

My first thought was that I feel rather bad for the airports themselves. They are not set to be rally grounds--for any politician but seems this will happen--for Trump anyways.

Look at all the security--men in suits patrolling the tarp.

U.S. Seeks to Defend Trump in Rape Accuser's Defamation Suit

Source: bloomberg

DOJ move could delay E. Jean Carroll’s quest for evidence
Advice columnist is seeking a Trump deposition and DNA sample

The U.S. Justice Department is seeking to take over the defense of President Donald Trump in a defamation suit brought by advice columnist E. Jean Carroll, who claims Trump raped her two decades ago.

The move could further delay a suit in which Carroll is demanding potentially damaging evidence from Trump during the final weeks before the presidential election, including a deposition and a DNA sample to compare to a dress she claims she was wearing at the time of the alleged attack. It could also leave taxpayers on the hook for any damages awarded in the case.

In a court filing Tuesday, the Justice Department said Trump was acting “within the scope” of his job as president when he said Carroll lied about the incident, prompting her lawsuit. The U.S. also moved the case to Manhattan federal court from a New York state court, where a judge last month denied his request to stall the suit.

“Today’s actions demonstrate that Trump will do everything possible, including using the full powers of the federal government, to block discovery from going forward in my case before the upcoming election to try to prevent a jury from ever deciding which one of us is lying,” Carroll said in a statement Tuesday.

It’s not clear why the Justice Department is only now seeking to take over Trump’s defense of the suit, which was filed in November 2019. Trump, who has denied he raped Carroll, has been represented in the case by his longtime outside lawyer Marc Kasowitz. The lawyer didn’t immediately return phone and email messages seeking comment. The Justice Department also didn’t immediately return an email...............................................

LORDY if this is allowed... damn.

According to Bill Barr, when Trump said that E. Jean Carroll, who alleges she was raped by Trump in 1995, was "not my type" he was acting "within the scope" of his job as President and is therefore entitled to a taxpayer-funded defense of Carroll's defamation suit

Maine voters have seemingly grown sick of Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) expressing concerns over President Donald Trump, only to back him at almost every turn.

The GOP senator has long been known as a moderate and won her fourth term, in 2014, with 68 percent of the vote, but the Trump presidency — and especially her actions during Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation — has exposed how flimsy that reputation actually is, reported Slate.

“I actually had this grain of hope that [Collins] would see all this information and hear all of this evidence and weigh all of these facts and come to the logical conclusion,” said Karin Leuthy, who researched Kavanaugh’s case history and helped compile a brief opposing his nomination. “And when she didn’t, I felt really duped, and ashamed that I had been duped. Since then, I am no longer naïve, and I won’t be duped again.”

Leuthy and other activists presented the brief to Collins, who accused them of taking “dark money and spreading “outright falsehoods” about the Trump nominee............

Multiple arrests after Trump supporters, Proud Boys gather for Labor Day caravan, Salem rally

Source: oregonlive.com

Oregon News Updated 5:44 PM; Today 2:32 PM

Pro-Trump, Black Lives Matter demonstrators clash in Salem on Labor Day

Right-wing activists and supporters of President Donald Trump gathered in the Willamette Valley on Monday, caravanning down highways around the Portland area in support of the president and police, and in opposition to protests in Portland this summer.

Part of the group broke off and gathered at a smaller event at the Oregon State Capitol in Salem in the afternoon, which quickly spun off into violence and led to multiple arrests.

The “Cruise Rally” in support of President Trump began in the parking lot of Clackamas Community College in Oregon City on Monday morning, where several hundred people dressed in red, white and blue, wore “make America great again” caps and carried signs bearing Trump’s likeness. The event was organized by Oregon For Trump 2020, a Facebook page for supporters of President Trump’s candidacy.

Speakers at the morning rally often spoke in religious terms, invoking Christianity in their efforts to stand against protesters who have been speaking out against police violence and in support of the Black Lives Matter movement since the death of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis Police Department in May..........................

How Trump’s Billion-Dollar Campaign Lost Its Cash Advantage

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/09/07/us/politics/trump-election-campaign-fundraising.html

Five months ago, President Trump’s re-election campaign had a huge financial edge over Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s. The Times conducted an extensive review of how the Trump team spent lavishly to show how that advantage evaporated.

Money was supposed to have been one of the great advantages of incumbency for President Trump, much as it was for President Barack Obama in 2012 and George W. Bush in 2004. After getting outspent in 2016, Mr. Trump filed for re-election on the day of his inauguration — earlier than any other modern president — betting that the head start would deliver him a decisive financial advantage this year.

It seemed to have worked. His rival, Joseph R. Biden Jr., was relatively broke when he emerged as the presumptive Democratic nominee this spring, and Mr. Trump and the Republican National Committee had a nearly $200 million cash advantage.

Five months later, Mr. Trump’s financial supremacy has evaporated. Of the $1.1 billon his campaign and the party raised from the beginning of 2019 through July, more than $800 million has already been spent. Now some people inside the campaign are forecasting what was once unthinkable: a cash crunch with less than 60 days until the election, according to Republican officials briefed on the matter.

Brad Parscale, the former campaign manager, liked to call Mr. Trump’s re-election war machine an “unstoppable juggernaut.” But interviews with more than a dozen current and former campaign aides and Trump allies, and a review of thousands of items in federal campaign filings, show that the president’s campaign and the R.N.C. developed some profligate habits as they burned through hundreds of millions of dollars. Since Bill Stepien replaced Mr. Parscale in July, the campaign has imposed a series of belt-tightening measures that have reshaped initiatives, including hiring practices, travel and the advertising budget...............

.......There have been other squandered costs driven by Mr. Trump’s sometimes mercurial desires. He switched his convention plans twice, incurring many expenses along the way. In July, for instance, the R.N.C. made a $325,000 payment to the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island near Jacksonville for the convention there that never happened. The party is not expected to get that money back.

Probe launched after bags of mail dumped in 2 spots in L.A. area

Source: cbs news

September 7, 2020 / 3:51 AM / CBS News

An investigation was underway after surveillance video captured bags of mail being dumped in the parking lot of a Glendale spa, CBS Los Angeles reports. The video, taken outside of 7Q salon, shows a Budget box truck backed into the parking lot. Moments later, bag after bag could be seen being tossed from the back of the truck and onto the ground.

Lilia Serobian, co-owner of the salon, found the bags and took cell phone video of them Thursday when she realized they were filled with hundreds of unopened envelopes and packages from the U.S. Postal Service.

"It was completely unusual," Serobian said. "If they're taking for their personal use, basically, why'd they have to drop off all the unopened packages somewhere."
.........................
"Of course it's suspicious," she said. "You start thinking, 'OK, something is going on,' because no one has access to all those boxes and packages.".........................

Trump pushes back on Atlantic article: 'Only an animal would say that'

Source: the hill

By J. Edward Moreno - 09/07/20 03:12 PM EDT

President Trump in a Monday press conference pushed back on claims made in an article in The Atlantic that alleged he disparaged U.S. service members killed in World War I during a 2018 trip to France.

The article published Thursday alleged that Trump referred to slain American soldiers buried at a French cemetery as “losers” and “suckers.” The administration has vehemently denied the claims, though Fox News and other outlets were able to confirm key details.

"Only an animal would say things like that,” Trump said Monday at the White House.

Trump said the article’s author, The Atlantic Editor-in-Chief Jeffrey Goldberg, has a “tremendously bad history,” and accused him of being pro-Democrat. Trump has previously called Goldberg a “slimeball” and called for the firing of the Fox News reporter who confirmed details of the article.

“The story is a hoax, written by a guy who’s got a tremendously bad history,” Trump said. “The magazine itself, which I don’t read, I hear is totally anti-Trump ... He made up the story, it’s a totally made-up story.”

Trump added that he “doesn’t understand” why people would draw a correlation between what he’s said about the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in the past and the allegations in the article. ................................
