Talking on Fox News's The Ingraham Angle on Thursday about a border security deal reportedly in the works between Senate Democrats and Republicans, Johnson, who's part of the Homeland Security Committee, said he's been "pretty well leading the efforts to slow this process down."
A bipartisan border security and immigration deal, which would unlock the stalled aid package for Ukraine blocked by House Republicans, has reportedly been the object of talks between the White House and key senators. In a joint statement issued by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell before the Senate went into recess for the holidays, the two said that negotiations "continue to make headway."
But Johnson has been undermining the importance of such a bipartisan deal, saying that it's impossible to engage in honest talks with Democrats about the topic.
"I've got 14 of my colleagues to sign a letter to Republican leadership to hold a conference meeting when we return on January 8," the Wisconsin senator told host Laura Ingraham. "That was really designed to make sure that they won't jam us this week to take a vote on a bill that nobody has seen," he added. "I think we were largely successful."

"The problem we have is that we're negotiating with an administration and Democrats in the Senate who want an open border," he concluded. Johnson took credit for the Senate going into recess without voting on any border security measures.

PROVIDENCE - The selection of former Trump National Security Adviser ? and renowned conspiracy theorist ? Mike Flynn as an inductee into the Rhode Island Heritage Hall of Fame has led to at least a half dozen resignations from the board that oversees the Hall of Fame.
It also led former Congressman Jim Langevin, who was also selected last week for induction into the honorary Hall of Fame, to serve notice: "If retired General Michael Flynn were to be included in this class I would not accept the nomination."
In her letter of resignation from the board, former Rep. Denise Aiken wrote: "I find that I am unable to be associated with an organization that would choose to honor a criminal who failed to keep this oath to the Constitution of the United States."
"The inclusion of Lieutenant General Michael Flynn flies in the face of honorable service," wrote Aiken, adding in a subsequent interview: "I just couldn't see placing that particular nominee on the same footing with so many fabulous people that have been honored in that way over the many years that it's been in existence."

A former Camden County deputy pleaded not guilty to accusations of possessing and promoting child sexual abuse materials.
According to online court records, Darrin Skinner, 49, of Camdenton, appeared in a Camden County courtroom for the first time on December 21.
Prosecutors charged him with two counts of Possession of Child Pornography, six counts of First-Degree Promoting Child Pornography, and six counts of Second-Degree Promoting Child Pornography.
The charges came after an investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Digital Forensic Investigative Unit..........................

MIDTOWN, Manhattan (WABC) -- Hundreds of pro-Palestinian protestors crowded Midtown on Christmas Day.
The rally began at the News Corporation Building on 6th Avenue around 2 p.m.
Organizers posted a call for action online as Christmas services in Bethlehem were suspended because of the war.
Video posted on Citizen App showed protestors marching along 5th Avenue with flags and signage.
No reports of arrests have been independently confirmed..........................
