I really like these. I especially like listening to his voice. It's very peaceful, calming and reassuring. Something in short supply these days.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.

It's a children's chant, used while jumping rope.

I heard it first when I watched this on PBS's American Experience. You can stream it free here, if I'm not mistaken.

Influenza 1918
Film Description
In September of 1918, soldiers at an army base near Boston suddenly began to die. The cause of death was identified as influenza, but it was unlike any strain ever seen.?As the killer virus spread across the country, hospitals overfilled, death carts roamed the streets and helpless city officials dug mass graves. It was the worst epidemic in American history, killing over 600,000 — until it disappeared as mysteriously as it had begun.

17 ways to become a more interesting person

17 ways to become a more interesting person

Everyone has the potential to be interesting.

It's not just you, Virginia Heffernan.

I have been sick to my stomach for my country, since election night. Now I am heartsick for Khashoggi, his fiancé and their families.

There are criminals in the White House, I have no doubt. Now we can call them murderous criminals.

Donnie can thank his friends in Saudi Arabia
for showing him how much they love him hating the press to the point of murdering a WaPo journalist.

These people are sociopaths. There are no redeeming qualities among them. To love is to hurt for the sociopath. They live to flirt with and wallow in criminality and disaster. They believe that they are above all laws and laugh in the face of righteous justice.

We should all be terrified.

Thanks for the post, Mrs. Overall.

Love, peace and shelter,

In about 20 years, half the population will live in eight states

In case you missed it. Something to think about.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/politics/wp/2018/07/12/in-about-20-years-half-the-population-will-live-in-eight-states/

In about 20 years, half the population will live in eight states

Eight states will have just under half of the total population of the country, 49.5 percent, according to the Weldon Cooper Center’s estimate. The next eight most populous states will account for an additional fifth of the population, up to 69.2 percent — meaning that the 16 most populous states will be home to about 70 percent of Americans.

Ornstein’s (and Waldman’s) point is clear: 30 percent of the population of the country will control 68 percent of the seats in the U.S. Senate. Or, more starkly, half the population of the country will control 84 percent of those seats.

So the partisan ramifications of the uneven distribution of the country’s population aren’t clear. But the possible anti-democratic effects of the lopsided Senate are. The gray states on the map below — states that make up more than two-thirds of the land area of the United States — will similarly control enough of the Senate to overcome any filibuster.

About littlemissmartypants

I read voraciously and fast with high comprehension. I love to learn and share. But I will never, ever post anything in LBN again because someone always seems to find fault with my posts. I've had too many locked for stupid reasons to ever take LBN seriously ever again. I now just trash it. Which is a shame since there are individuals who are regular posters there that I love. I just send all not truly LBN and LBN dupes to the Trash from now on. No need to even bother any hosts with those anymore. Using Ignore and Trash are proving to be much easier and better options for me than trying to engage and attempt to make LBN a better place. I'm also getting tired of this place looking like the Trump Underground. Trashing every iteration of the surname and all of the clever nicknames people have created make it virtually impossible not to see posts about the psychopath that is the Republican party's preferred presidential candidate. Oh, well. GOTV!
