Black Parade, Beyonce

Lyrics

[Intro]
Ah

[Verse 1]
I'm goin' back to the South
I'm goin' back, back, back, back
Where my roots ain't watered down
Growin', growin' like a Baobab tree
Of life on fertile ground, ancestors put me on game
Ankh charm on gold chains, with my Oshun energy, oh
Drip all on me, woo, Ankh or the Dashiki print
Hol' up, don't I smell like such a nag champa incense?
Yeah, pure ice (Ice), ice (Ice), buss down
Uh, flooded (Flooded), flooded (Flooded), on my wrist, out
Ooh, goin' up, goin' up, motherland, motherland drip on me
Ooh, melanin, melanin, my drip is skin deep, like
Ooh, motherland, motherland, motherland, motherland drip on me
Ooh, yeah, I can't forget my history is her-story, yeah
Being black, maybe that's the reason why they always mad
Yeah, they always mad, yeah
Been past 'em, I know that's the reason why they all big mad
And they always have been

[Chorus]
Honey, come around my way, around my
Whenever momma says so, momma say
Here I come on my throne, sittin' high
Follow my parade, oh, my parade
Talkin' slick to my folk (My folk), lift that lip like lipo (Lipo)
You hear them swarmin', right? Bees is known to bite
Now here we come on our thrones, sittin' high
Follow my parade, oh, my parade

Gov. Cooper says 'strong' people wear face coverings as sign of compassion

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Snip...

“We need more people to wear masks,” said Governor Roy Cooper. “This piece of protection may save your life or the lives of your loved ones.”
Cooper said they’re in the process of figuring out what a state mandate would look like for face coverings. He said they expect to make an announcement next week.

Starting Friday at 4 p.m., face masks will be required in Raleigh.

...snip...

“The message is [COVID-19] is out in our communities and we need to do everything we can to slow that spread,” said Dr. Mandy Cohen with NCDHHS.

Snip...

“Regardless of whether it’s a law or a store requirement, wearing a face-covering when you are around other people slows the spread of the virus,” said Cooper. “We’ve got to remove the politics out of all of this. We’ve got to realize that strong people wear face coverings because it is a sign of compassion and that you actually care about people.”

BLM Mural in Charlotte

On Tuesday, June 9, 17 local artists painted an entire Uptown block with three words: Black Lives Matter.
Artists worked all day Tuesday in nearly 90 degree heat to finish the project, which runs along Tryon Street between 3rd and 4th Streets.

Each artist, or artist duo in the case of Arko & Owl, painted a different letter, so each have very different styles and colors. For example, Georgie Nakima’s (@gardenofjourney) letter “M” used similar bold colors and geometric lines you’d see in her murals around the city. And in Arko & Owl’s “L” you’ll see similar three-dimensional waves that you can find at Yafo Kitchen in Plaza Midwood and Camp North End.

The street mural was part of a collaboration with the City of Charlotte, Charlotte is Creative, Brand The Moth, BLKMRKTCLT, and the artists. The entire project — from idea to completion — took only a few days.

Participating artists: Dammit Wesley, Dakotah Aiyanna, Matthew Clayburn, Abel Jackson, Garrison Gist, Owl & Arko, Kyle Mosher, Franklin Kernes, Kiana Mui, Marcus Kiser, Georgie Nakima, Zach McLean, Frankie Zombie, CHD:WCK!, John Hairston, and Dari Calamari. Artists are being paid $500 for each letter, and all supplies were included.

This city disbanded its police department 7 years ago. Here's what happened next

This city disbanded its police department 7 years ago. Here's what happened next
By Scottie Andrew, CNN
Updated 7:33 AM EDT, Tue June 09, 2020

Last week, Minneapolis officials confirmed they were considering a fairly rare course of action: disbanding the city police department.

It's not the first locale to break up a department, but no cities as populous have ever attempted it. Minneapolis city council members haven't specified what or who will replace it if the department disbands.

...snip...

Before its police reforms, Camden was routinely named one of the most violent cities in the US.

Now, seven years after the old department was booted, the city's crime has dropped by close to half. Officers host outdoor parties for residents and knock on doors to introduce themselves. It's a radically different Camden than it was even a decade ago. Here's how they did it.

Bill Barr

Straight up lying to Margaret on FTN about "clearing the area" and use of force. He's got me completely pissed off. Watch the rapid eye blinking after any statement and you are watching a liar. She's holding her own even faced with his lies. Go Margaret!

About littlemissmartypants

I read voraciously and fast with high comprehension. I love to learn and share. But I will never, ever post anything in LBN again because someone always seems to find fault with my posts. I've had too many locked for stupid reasons to ever take LBN seriously ever again. I now just trash it. Which is a shame since there are individuals who are regular posters there that I love. I just send all not truly LBN and LBN dupes to the Trash from now on. No need to even bother any hosts with those anymore. Using Ignore and Trash are proving to be much easier and better options for me than trying to engage and attempt to make LBN a better place. I'm also getting tired of this place looking like the Trump Underground. Trashing every iteration of the surname and all of the clever nicknames people have created make it virtually impossible not to see posts about the psychopath that is the Republican party's preferred presidential candidate. Oh, well. GOTV!
