The Bernie Sanders revolution will not be stopped!
I live in an area with many more older people than young. This is a, mostly, blue collar county, filled with people that have been here since the 50s and 60s. Every event I've been to here has had a greater majority of people over 50. In fact, many are over 60 and into their 80s. Some of whom have been activists their entire lives, some, this is the first time they've ever campaigned for anyone.
While in Oakland, the events I've been to are filled with younger people. College students, grad students, mostly first time activists. Because they're sick of what we've handed them. They want their children to inherit a better place. A greener, cleaner, healthier, income equal and unbigoted, racism free place with no war on women, education or minorities. A nation that cares and doesn't allow children to go hungry or profit from incarcerating people.
The Bernie revolution is sweeping the nation. People from all walks of life, in all age groups, every minority group, men and women alike, and even every color of the political spectrum, are joining in, excited about and fighting for Bernie Sanders to be elected to the White House.
This is a movement that is unprecedented in modern history. We won't shut up. We won't sit down. We will not allow corporate media to shut us out.
We're here. We're queer. We're black. We're white. We're brown and yellow. We're old. We're young. We're religious. We're atheist. We're socialist and we're conservative. We're rich. We're poor. We're loud and proud.
And we're fed up with the oligarchs.

Don't be fooled by the rhetoric from the right about Planned Parenthood and all the absolute bullshit videos and "proof" of so many horrific lies. This has nothing, whatsoever, to do with abortion.
As I'm sure you all know, the video of the meeting in which the rightwing nut jobs claim proof of Planned Parenthood selling aborted fetuses, is an outright lie. http://mediamatters.org/video/2015/09/30/cnns-alisyn-camerota-and-maria-cardona-shut-dow/205868. We know the tape was altered, significantly. We know that the original video, in full, proves Planned Parenthood broke no laws. All of this is just smoke and mirrors. This is just part of the plan to control the populace. The plan, hatched back in the late 70s, formulated and started in the 80s, was conceived by conservatives to take over politically, financially and in every way possible.
The dumbing down of America, which includes "no child left behind" and college tuition so high only the rich can afford it or they keep a student in debt for the rest of their lives; the imprisonment of minorities, poor and women, the state sanctioned murder of young black men and women as well as transgender and mentally disabled people, jailing women who control their bodies; wage gaps that are out of sight and unprecedented, etc.
This has nothing to do with abortion. This is just another way to control.

The Stand With Planned Parenthood event I attended yesterday for #PinkOutDay was a raging success! The organizer, Jan, did such a fabulous job! Besides the planning, signs, signup sheets, coordinating everything, she had a member of the media there. She was even able to lend me a Pink jacket. I believe it belonged to another volunteer named Mary. (I don't own anything pink.)
There was such a great turn out. I would guess there were 30 volunteers. Considering this isn't the big city and it was in the middle of a work day, I think that's amazing!
The responses we received were overwhelming positive. One woman shouted from her car to one of the male volunteers, "our vaginas are more regulated than guns!" We had people honking, giving the thumbs up, showing their excitement and support with waves, smiles and the occasional shout out from the car.
There were truckers who enthusiastically blew their horns, which always got other drivers to join in.
This was near a high school, during lunch. Though few of the kids even made eye contact with us old folks, a few showed interest and support.
My favorite part was when a couple of fireman drove their fire truck by. They blasted their horn while giving us the thumbs up! Go fireman! Unlike the motorcycle cops that refused to acknowledge us.

All in all, I felt like this was a great success. I know moveon.org and NARAL will be posting about how well this #PinkOutDay went across the country. But we have Jan to thank for putting this event together. For doing it so well and for making everyone there feel important. Jan and the other volunteers in Fremont, thank for allowing me to join you in this fight to save Planned Parenthood.
The most important thing we can do is; to squelch the lies, and shout out the unending benefits that so very many people, all across the country, receive from Planned Parenthood.
