The Obama administration made a decision on testing that turned out to be very detrimental to what were doing, and we undid that decision a few days ago so that the testing can take place at a much more accurate and rapid fashion. That was a decision we disagreed with. I dont think we would have made it, but for some reason it was made. But weve undone that decision.
Thats President Donald Trump deflecting the criticism his administration has been facing over its response to the coronavirus.
The comments were made during a meeting with airline executives at the White House on Wednesday. Heres a clip: (available at web link above)

Still, Trumps deflection came under fire from his critics.

There's clear evidence of how Trump has mishandled the #coronavirus response. CDC cuts. Eliminating the NSC global pandemic coordinator. Mike Pence's entire existence. Don't just repeat his bullshit attempts to blame Obama. https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2020/03/here-are-17-ways-the-trump-administration-bungled-its-coronavirus-response/

U.S. Supreme Court examines religious school funding in major rights case
By Andrew Chung
1/22/20
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Supreme Court justices are poised to tackle a major religious rights case on Wednesday over whether states can bar public funding of religious institutions in a dispute over a Montana tax credit program that could benefit private religious schools.
The justices will hear about an hour of arguments in an appeal by three parents of students who attend a Christian school in Kalispell, Montana. They are challenging a lower court ruling that struck down the tax credit program as a violation of the state constitution's ban on government aid to religious schools and churches.
The ruling in the case, expected by the end of June, could narrow the separation of church and state.

Calvin Goode still lives on the property he bought in central Phoenix in 1955, in a small home at Jefferson and 15th streets, steps away from historic Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.
At the time, it was one of the few neighborhoods where black Arizonans were allowed to buy homes. Now, it's jutted up against a light-rail line, near a prestigious Great Hearts charter school, on the edge of an upscale apartment housing boom.
After growing up attending segregated schools in Gila Bend and Phoenix in the 1940s, Goode in 1972 became the second black person to serve on the Phoenix City Council. He held the position for 22 years.
He said he remembered once, when he was a young man, he applied for a job at a Phoenix high school and was denied because the principal did not want him supervising white women.

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day in 1988, an estimated 15,000 people gathered in downtown Phoenix for a march to the Arizona State Capitol protesting the state's refusal to recognize the holiday. It was a rainy, cold, windy day, but so many people attended that the crowd flooded three lanes of traffic.
Years of political fighting over the holiday created a national image of Arizona as a state locked in a racial battle.
Several big-name musicians and national conventions canceled their Arizona events. After two ballot propositions to make the day a state holiday failed, the National Football League relocated the 1993 Super Bowl from Sun Devil Stadium to Pasadena, California.
Finally, voters approved a state King holiday in November 1992, making Arizona the only state that put it to a vote of the people and saw it pass.

Has anyone calculated the costs to send The Don and his criminal family, a 9 member delegation, SS protection, hotel and entertainment expenses, AF1 and other transportation?

Trump to attend annual economic forum in Davos, Switzerland
BY DARLENE SUPERVILLE,
JAN 8, 2020
WASHINGTON President Donald Trump plans to attend a global economic forum in Switzerland this month, making up for an appearance he cancelled during last years record-long shutdown of the U.S. government.
The annual World Economic Forum, held in the popular ski resort of Davos, attracts wealthy, high-profile business and political figures, along with academics and other leaders of society.
Trumps Jan. 21-22 appearance will mark his first time on the world stage since he authorized the U.S. military to kill Irans top military commander.
It will also be Trumps first trip outside of the U.S. since becoming only the third American president to be impeached, and the first one to carry that mark into a reelection campaign.
Trump will address the gathering about two weeks before the first voting in the process that will determine his Democratic opponent in the November election.

Davos: White House official says Trump expected to go after skipping during 2019 shutdown
By Kevin Liptak and Caroline Kelly

President Donald Trump is expected to go to Davos, Switzerland, for the World Economic Forum later this month after not attending the conference last year because of the government shutdown, a White House official told CNN on Wednesday.
The annual conference brings together powerful executives, finance ministers and other members of the global elite. Trump attended the summit in 2018 and was pleased with the reception he received, people who spoke to him afterward told CNN at the time.
According to a White House press release, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin will lead the delegation, which will include presidential advisers and Trump family members Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, as well as several members of the President's Cabinet. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, Labor Secretary Eugene Scalia, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao and US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer will be among the nine-person presidential delegation to the mountainside conference.

Democrats slam Trump on Puerto Rico, demand swift response to earthquake
Suzanne Gamboa
1/8/20
Democratic presidential candidates expressed their support for Puerto Rico on Twitter following Tuesday's earthquake, while some Democrats in Congress demanded that the Trump administration release aid that had been approved after Hurricane Maria.
The 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck Puerto Rico before dawn Tuesday, killing one person and causing power plant shutdowns on the ailing island.
The earthquake is something of a piling on for Puerto Rico. It is still crippled by Maria, which hit in 2017, its $70 billion debt and a relatively new interim government that was installed after the former governor was ousted amid an email scandal.
On Tuesday, FEMA said that the president had signed an emergency declaration for Puerto Rico because of the quake.
