You should be able to negotiate those January bills down to a lower rate.

Or not pay them at all - I'm not recommending the latter, but some would say that since you're not going to use that provider, it matters little whether or not you pay them. Or you could offer to pay whatever you think the services were worth.
All of that only if you don't care too much about your credit score or phone calls from collectors.

Good luck.

Why hasn't she changed her last name, for Pete's sake?

Her surname is so recognizable, she couldn't get away with jaywalking.

Glad to know the Wes Clark is still actively supporting the Democratic party and candidates.

I liked him when he had a brief run for the Presidency - was that 2004, or 2000?

Perhaps he can be helpful to Sen. Mark Pryor's race.

I tell my "younger" friends" - the 60's are good years.

Bodies are usually healthy and strong enough to get around.
Children have matured and left home, and those responsibilities are past.
Carpe diem!

In 2008 I was involved in another Democratic site

whose name I don't even recall.

However, I do recall great ruckus and bad feelings among the posters regarding and including PUMAs.
At the time I favored Hillary over Barack, but when he won the primaries I made a fairly easy transition to Sen. Obama, but many at that site did not, and the wars went on and on.

I believe all the infighting brought the site down.

Now I believe that Hillary's time has past for the Presidency.
Frankly, she's a little long in the teeth, and don't believe she will excite the younger generations, who are sorely needed, if the Dems are to win the Presidency. I can make that statement re age in good conscience, in that I am older than Hillary and know well that in the 21st century a President in his/her 70's is not what we and the world needs or wants.

I feel the same about Joe Biden, whom I like and admire.

Not sure who's next on the bench - O'Malley?

Good for you, taking time to get those pizzas to people

who will be glad to have them!
Thanks, denbot.

I believe one of the greatest blessings one can have is to be present

with your loved when he/she passes.

You had that, gwheezie, and I know you treasure that time and those moments, and you so generously shared them with us.
Take comfort in his words and all the memories of times together that will come back to you over the next days, weeks, months.

Come in and tell us how you are and how things are going for you.

I agree re preferring life without parole, but

I'm not sure how much input a victim's family has in that decision.

I believe the decision what to ask for is the prosecutor's, and the decision of what penalty one determined guilty is given is either mandated according to the law, or, if there is discretion, the jury and/or the judge.

I have noticed lately a trend to let the victim's family address a guilty party in court, regarding the impact the crime has had on the family. Not sure how long this has been going on. I'm not against this happening, though perhaps the judge should be given the opportunity to look ver the statement before it is delivered, in case the statement is beyond reason.

I've never understood the satisfaction some members of victim's

families say they have afterwards, especially since it's so many years after the act that a execution takes place.

By not finding a way to get beyond a heinous act for many years, family members are keeping themselves hostage to another person's acts.

I believe that for many jury members the details of what is entailed in the execution of a human being is not fully realized.

I'm of the opinion that state executions should be filmed and recorded.

In fact, I can't understand why this has not been standard practice up to this time.

There would be far less equivocating about what occurred were videos, etc. of executions as routine as the executions themselves.
