So proud of the way Dr. Fauci handles himself.

He's been around long enough to know how to defend himself with being offensive.
He's not a young man - about 80, I think - but he can set many a young man or woman back on their heels as needed.

Many here on DU feel very free to voice their disapproval of any or all things Catholic.

Example above:" it is quite easy to see they have no credibility when it comes to basic morality."

I know of no other body of which such a sweeping statement would be levelled or tolerated either here on DU or elsewhere.

Many on DU even go to the Catholic Safe Haven group here on DU with comments offensive to Catholic subscribers.

We know that most of the other religious groups here are not attacked in this manner, and when a comment or subject crosses their line, it is quickly called out.

There are and have been serious problems within the Catholic church over the millenia of its existence. Some have been resolved, some remain. Most Catholics are not unaware of these.

However, there are real and serious reasons so many choose to live life as a practicing Catholic and they deserve to be honored and respected here on DU and elsewhere.

This is a safe haven group.

There are other areas on DU more suitable for your posting.

Could it be that in an emergency room situation drug addicts could be more easily

seen/monitored minute-to-minute for their double conditions (emergency plus drug effects) in a hallway than behind a curtain?
I don't know enough to speculate knowledgably, but trying to think it through...

Sorry to say, I believe the majority of this thinking comes from their church/pastors.

In the late night I bounce around the TV channels, including the religious ones.
A program or network called "Daystar" is viciously anti-vax.
One with a dark-haired woman, whom I believe is the wife of network's featured pastor.
She has guests, some with medical degrees, they say, who expound at length and with statistics, etc. to back up their nonsense.
Naturally , their phone number for donations is continually displayed, and sometimes religious "oils" or books are offered.

I am a religious person, but this style of preaching, etc. is nothing I have ever experienced, nor do I know people involved in this type of religion, so it is quite an eye-opener to me.
It bugs me that my tv subscription is paying for this type of programming.
Live and learn....

Many who work in nursing homes are poorly paid, as well as not highly educated,

They fear missing a day of work and pay more than what they see of Covid.
My daughter (in her late 50's) lives in a long-term care facility.
All cases of Covid were brought in by staff, not family or friends.
Thank goodness, no deaths among residents so far.

I'm in Ohio as well, and heard on the evening news that the worst of the Delta variant

will go south to MS, LA, FL and to WY and ID next. It will likely get going in OH and Midwest in the fall.
I'm in the older, most vulnerable age bracket, and believe that the greatest number of my contemporaries got vaccinated soon as it was available. Men of this age had mostly been in the military, where, I understand several vaccinations were administered as soon as one was sworn in.

Still, I'm rather personally cautious, and don't do a lot of gallivanting around more because of age limitations than fear of Covid, at this time.
There's also the Lambda variant, started in Peru and now spreading throughout South America.
I believe we'll all end up taking booster shots by year's end, which is okay by me.
Do your Christmas shopping early, and get in all your yearly physical exams family events early rather than later.

My son is near the coast near Sarasota.

He is sensible and I believe he will be safe.
Hope his building, with open garage, doesn't get a lot of sea-driven rainwater.
It will all be over within ca 12 hours for that area.
Next - GA, and the eastern seaboard.
Still early in the hurricane season.

Yes, prayers for all.
