IrishAyes's JournalHOW CAN ANYONE PUBLISH ANYTHING ON DU THAT BECK EVER TOUCHED? YOU KNOW IT'S SKEWED!
I'm just astounded that you even posted this at all. Democrats are supposed to have better sense!
OK, Time's a'wastin' - I need to find 3 or 4 more Progressive/Liberal potential radio hosts before
the end of the month, not to mention the potential end of my blooming producing career.
Raw talent will be considered in addition to proven professionals for an internet radio gig on a new 24-hour global call-in station through a new web portal (TSAWC.com) to be opening later this month. I don't do the actual hiring or contract negotiations, but I've been told to fill the slots on 'To The Fire' however I wish. So I'm the portal to the portal, if you like.
TTF will focus on government accountability and consumer protection. If anyone thinks I'm about to unleash more conservatives on this suffering world, they've got another think coming. I'm strictly no-quarter in that respect.
So far I've been blessed with two sterling candidates to pass on to the front office, but I'm asking each and every one of you to look around and see if there's someone you know or know of who'd make a good candidate. Give a fellow liberal/progressive a hand up in the world. Maybe even a well-seasoned pro who currently imagines him/herself in early retirement and could be persuaded to re-enter the fray. Categories the roster curently lacks are millenial and minority.
I do plan to start contacting the communications departments of various colleges and universities, but I need help from the DU community as well. I'm not selling any product or service at all - just trying to promote the general well being of the world by countering conservatism in any way I can.
So take a look at the portal's website, decide what you think about it, and if there are any hot radio host prospects with a little extra time on their hands, PM my DU mailbox. I'm not looking for flaming radicals, just reliable folks who are progressive/liberal. Thanks for any help you can give me. We want to go live at the end of the month, and I don't want to be standing there with egg on my face because I dragged my feet.
Obviously I'm not a man - so I hope you don't mind my posting here.
The OP title, of course, caught my eye on the front page.
I'm reminded of a groundbreaking tv show or movie a number of years ago, called 'The Rape of Richard Beck'. It was about a LEO who treated women rape victims rather badly; then the same thing happened to him and he fell to pieces. I believe Richard Crenna played the title role. Anyway, it was so far ahead of its time and so gut wrenching that rape counselors used it in their work. I believe if anyone could find a copy, it would be a valuable resource.
Crucial OP
I hope things get better for you. It's been said that all humans have some degree of mental illness, only the severity differs.
And to show how awful even the medical community can sometimes be, I read the other day that certain professionals want to classify extreme creativity as a mental illness. What tangled webs we weave....
I'm saving this entire page against future need as well.
Thanks btw. I'm not sure but I've been wondering if maybe this nasty thing sneaked in on IOBIT in the first place. But I know I hate it with a purple passion usually reserved for the GOP.
Anyone heard of a 'SearchProtect' virus?
I ordered several programs on sale from IOBIT about a week ago, then got too busy to install them and today noticed that of all the info received from their vendor Avangate, there was no actual installation link to follow or license codes. So I called tech support, who told me I had a virus called 'SearchProtect' - which of course they'd remove once for $149 or for a whole year for $300.
When I said no thanks, I'll do it myself, the guy went ahead and downloaded the installation programs on my desktop and sent the licensing codes to my email. I WONDER IF THEY DIDN'T JUST FAIL TO DO THOSE THINGS ORIGINALLY SO I'D HAVE TO CALL TECH SUPPORT WHICH COULD THEN TRY TO SELL ME A SERVICE I DON'T NEED.
Among other protections (which I keep up to date) on this computer, I also have Threat Fire, a behavior recognizer that runs in the background. Seems that would've caught anything like this alleged 'SearchProtect' virus. I also have things set up to warn me if I'm being misdirected, which is how tech support claims the virus got in. I don't even click on live links - I copy and paste them to the navigation window.
What say you? Is this alleged virus real, and if so how would I go about removing it w/o paying $ I don't have?
If it makes any difference the computer's got Windows 7, 32-bit at that, and besides the IOBIT suite, which I might abandon when the new pro licenses run out, I've also got Glary Utilities which I like better.
I'd rather send him to the glue factory - all of 'em in fact.
But maybe that's just because I'm full blood Irish and a little mean as a result. As my career military dad loved to quote, "No better friend, no worse enemy."
But - but - but I keep hearing the Repugs saying that nobody's actually paying premiums etc
and that this is all a sham. Do you suppose they might be, um, overcompensating? They're kinda funny/sad to watch. Can't say I have any sympathy, though. They got whupped big time and they deserve it.
You're right, and I hope at some point the undeniably brilliant Mr. Pitt will come full circle in
understanding his part in the mess. I for one am willing to give him a bit more time. I swear that every time I want to swipe him upside the head, I'm faced with this image of President Obama hugging him. Don't ask me to prove it because I can't. It's just there. This is one time I feel led to follow the example I believe he would set. And no, I don't usually tumble for convenient 'apololgies'. I've thrashed others before for posting them. For some reason this one, while incomplete even yet in full understanding, strikes me as sincere.
President Obama is classier than MOST of us. He sets the bar high.
And I for one think he would empathize with Will's situation or any others like it. And if he and Will could meet, there'd be a lot more understanding and maybe even help.
