IrishAyes's JournalSt. Joseph did wind up in a ticklish situation, didn't he?
And yet he followed his heart and faith in the angel's message in an era when it was hardly easy or convenient. What a role model!
If not so tragic, it would be hysterically funny
the way our own Religious Right Taliban tries to follow both the philosophy of a sociopath (Rand, among others) and Christ at the same time. Can't be done.
If one espouses unrestricted individualism (ie, sociopathy)
then one must prepare to accept PERSONAL responsibility of the consequences.
Blame Lenin and Stalin? or anyone else? Nope.
If Rand was such a supposedly independent individual, the onus is on HER. Otherwise it's like she 's saying the devil made her do it. Don't fall into the same trap, friend. How would it play out if someone decided to 'cleanse' the world of teabaggers??????
No telling.
But it was crystal clear what her victims thought of her: Ding dong, the witch is dead!
Amen to that!
I don't think my beloved Archbishop Romero could've done better. And there's nobody on earth I love more. Nobody.
Maybe it was the blessing of long exposure
to modern Jewish culture, at least the Reformed variety, that influenced much of my thinking. The idea is certainly not original. One of the proudest moments of my life happened when a certain rabbi complemented my 'very Jewish' way of thinking. His mother was a close personal friend of mine, and she always referred to Jesus as 'a good Jewish boy'. Coming from her, high praise indeed. Despite our theological differences, we respected and loved each other very much. That is how I believe our Lord and Savior wants it to be.
And there are misogynists in this world
who'd declare her unfit to serve. Blows my mind.
I've always wished Romero could've been Pope
But I suppose God had more important things for him to do.
I hope this is not topic spread too much
But I've always maintained that while a Jew can be Jewish w/o being a Christian - of course! - still, a Christian cannot be a Christian w/o being Jewish too, whether they realize it or not. (I don't mean by circumcision) Because we were grafted onto their tree, not vice verse.
Always sad to see a Catholic anything close
Didn't some parish being merged with a larger one recently set up its own congregation? How can faith and determination like that be ignored?
