Insulted us? Too confusing to understand?

What pit are these people squeeling from? Never mind, I know.

For my $ it called to mind the Emancipation Proclamation: Short, concise, to the point. And telling people what some of them don't want to hear is hardly insulting.

I wouldn't want to admit I was too stoopid to understand that speech!

(BTW, I'm enjoying my little 7" tv a lot. It sits right here close to the computer, I can easily follow what's going on with my favorite shows - whether what I say online is easy to follow or not! No telling what blunders await. But the pleasure helps make up for the misery of borrowed wi-fi. And with the volume kept so low, I'm sure to hear any yapping the dogs might start outside.)

He thinks better of us than we sometimes deserve as a nation.

Yet that is still good, because it summons us upward, no matter how many drag their feet or even dig in their heels, screaming all the way.

Amen to that!

Despite his occasional gaffes, Joe Biden can be eloquent indeed.

Love it, many thanks.

My new M.O. now is BOG in the morning to start my day off right, then BOG in the evening to keep it right. Gives me sweet sleep, ending on a note of encouragement.

Kudos to all

Very clear and concise. Too bad the teabagger ETC crowd still might not understand. I truly wonder about their sanity and/or basic IQ. See what hate drives people to? Idiocy. Worse, but that's bad enough.

Still your hands are clean, your halos on straight. Good for you.

You've been officially invited to take your comments to a more appropriate space.

Might be wise to wipe your feet at our door before entering if you want a warm welcome. Don't let the door hit you in the rear on your way out.

Great OP, thanks.

Some of the best commentary I've read; kudos also to Andrew Sullivan.

I've never forgotten: Jesus was a community organizer too. Revolutionized history. Terrible crimes committed falsely in his name can't change that.

Thinking also of one of President Obama's favorite theologians, Reinhold Neihbur, whose name I can never seem to spell correctly. Regardless, it helps to understand this president if your read his own North Star as well. It totally staggers me that the same state could produce such a theologian for the ages, and then Pig Boy too. Guess which one's better known, at least among the general public. Cosmic comedy.

Speaking of which, it's time for me to get offline and address my own load of work at home. So hard to squeeze in everything before it gets too hot to breathe or to leave my signal booster in an open window. I'll be soooo glad when I don't have to guest on a friend's wi-fi signal anymore. Even during mild weather the signal's only fair at best. Frequent drops. I don't like to use bandwidth any time I think he might need it either, because why should he suffer for his generosity?

Why use a solemn occasion marking a great tragedy, to mock anyone?

Says more about YOU than your target.

September 11, 2013

Cut it out, you two! You're killing me ROFL

Now my funny bone's broken. What are you going to do about that?

Of course I'm also laughing at the RW hysteria resulting from finding themselves boxed in pretty tight. This time their favorite target turned the tables on them and pretty much cut them off at the knees, way I see it. Ouch - damn that karma.

I think part of the situation

is that there's no way a few people in Rome can entirely control 2 1/2 billion others worldwide, or whatever our numbers happen to be now. That horse left the barn a lonnnng time ago. American Catholics in practice and theology are closer to Anglicans than to Rome. We love certain popes and give them a close listen, but obedience? When hell freezes over. We finally learned that the church is THE PEOPLE, and nobody's ever closed the barn door on that one.

About IrishAyes

Still an ardent Irish-American Catholic damnYankee Yellow Dog Democrat socialist after all these years. (cue Simon music) Army brat and wife for many years, now have been on the loose far longer than I was married. After my two red chows died, I took in a mini-beagle cross that I named Molly Maguire, thinking she might need a good Irish name like my original real one. Later she got a baby sister, a smooth-coat JRT I named Brigid after the greatest of the ancient Celtic goddesses. My great-grandfather and his son fought for Michael Collins and barely made it out of Ireland one step ahead of John Bull. They slipped over to Wales for new identities and then forward to the States for a fresh start. That makes me second generation of illegal but certainly justified immigrants. There are precious few people to whose defense I fly immediately, but the list includes Hillary Clinton, President Barack Obama even when I disagree with him - it happens! - and living Irish patriots Gerry Adams and Martin \\\'Mind Your Kneecaps\\\' McGuiness. I pray earnestly for a united and free Ireland rescued from all official British occupation, with every square inch of alleged \\\'ancestral lands\\\' now held immorally and illegally by the invaders returned to the rightful owners. Irish-only rule for Ireland. No foreign masters anymore! I find it passing strange when Brits chide ME about \'interfering\' in Irish politics!
