Dept of Veterans Affairs: Palin "using PTSD as excuse to shift blame from son's domestic violence"

A day after Sarah Palin appeared to blame President Barack Obama for her son's domestic violence charge with comments she made about veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder, those very veterans are setting her straight.

"Palin is using PTSD as an excuse to shift blame away from her son's domestic violence," said Brandon Friedman, the former digital media director for the Department of Veterans Affairs.

He continued, "She never mentioned the actual victim. She portrayed her son as the victim, but never talked about his girlfriend, apparently crying and hiding under a bed because he beat her."

While Friedman concedes that those suffering from PTSD are more likely to commit domestic violence, he said Palin is promoting the false idea that all veterans with mental health issues are an immediate threat to those around them.

"I think he wants the job because it's the ultimate deal, and he's the ultimate ego."

"Believe whatever you want about Hillary; whatever she is or isn't, she's tough," Cher said. "I don't like anything about Donald Trump. It's a joke at a time when you really need serious people. I don't think he wants the job, or I don't think he actually wants to do the work."

She continued, "I think he wants the job because it's the ultimate deal, and he's the ultimate ego. I don't know that I've heard or seen anybody like him, and I also never thought that Americans would go for someone like him, a person of his quality."

Report: Fiorina accused of 'ambushing' children for anti-abortion rally

Source: CNN

(CNN)Carly Fiorina is being accused of "ambushing" a pre-school field trip in order to stage an anti-abortion rally, angering a parent who was swept into the event.

According to a report from the Guardian, Fiorina directed a group of 15 children, who were on a field trip, to a stage for a rally that was simultaneously taking place at the Greater Des Moines botanical garden.

One parent interviewed by a Guardian reporter, who was following the campaign Wednesday, was upset about the way the event unfolded.

"She ambushed my son's field trip," Chris Beck, the parent, said.

"Then she started campaigning."

Blame John McCain for Donald Trump

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/chris-weigant/blame-john-mccain-for-don_b_9033590.html

McCain then took a look at his "short list" for the veep slot on the ticket, and decided to make another maverick move -- he'd pick an obscure but photogenic governor whom few had even heard of. Thus, Sarah Palin was elevated to national political prominence.

This move was designed to stick a thumb in the eye of the Republican Party's bigwigs by ignoring all the "safe" choices McCain could have made from within the party's ranks. Palin would also be only the second woman ever to run for vice president, and the first Republican to do so. All around, it was seen as a gutsy -- if risky -- move by McCain.

Then she started campaigning. It became immediately obvious that Sarah Palin was just not ready for primetime, but the choice had already been made and so she had to be supported by all good Republicans. The party flocked to Palin's defense against that nasty "lamestream media" (as she so colorfully put it), and declared her to be even more qualified than Barack Obama (this was before she quit her governorship, halfway through her first term). They doubled down on Palin, because the Republican establishment really had no other choice. By doing so, they elevated the idea that someone like Sarah Palin was qualified to be president. Which is precisely why I blame McCain for Donald Trump's rise.

If John McCain had made a different choice for his running mate, we might never have seen Michele Bachmann run for president (or rise in the polls, if she had). We might not have had 17 people (some with zero elected experience) run for the Republican nomination this time around. Tina Fey would not be anywhere near the comedy star she is today. We all might never have learned to use the term "word salad." The abstinence lobby would have had to get along without a spokeswoman who inexplicably keeps having babies out of wedlock. "What if" is always a fun game to play, isn't it?

The SINGLE most fascinating aspect of the Ted Cruz situation

I read a number of articles this morning on what's happening inside the "machine," but here's the gist of it.

You have what are referred to as "greybeard" Republicans like Bob Dole predicting a chain reaction of losses for the GOP if Cruz gets on the ticket.

If you do just a little bit of Googling you will see a list of Republicans who "should" be behind Cruz. These people actually loathe him.

We all remember how the Republicans felt that McCain / Palin 2008 was a train wreck, that they'd have to sit back and let Obama win and then blister his ass in 2012.

And as fate would have it, the blisterer was Mitt Romney, who is probably sitting in his mansion right now applying a soothing unguent to the still-healing blisters on his own ass.

But there is a lot of buzz around the concept of Republicans willing to sacrifice 2016 so that Cruz gets on the ticket and the voters demonstrate to him just how toxic he is, thereby obliterating any future "Presidential aspirations" he might have. Take one for the team, make Ted go "boom," end of the Ted story.

I have no idea what Trump's endgame is, other than stoking his own ego. If he gets the Republican nod and puts Cruz on the ticket, I predict a Democratic "Get Out The Vote" grassroots effort to end all grassroots efforts.

Here's my challenge to DU...how would YOU feel if you were so disrespected, so despised, so loathed by "your own people" that they would be willing to give up what they wanted most just to witness your public and humiliating downfall?
