GOP lawmakers are trying to expose what President Donald Trump sees as a conspiracy by law enforcement to push a narrative through the media using unauthorized leaks tying his campaign to Russia, reported Politico.

“There are a number of other inappropriate communications that have transpired between the FBI/DOJ and media outlets that have not been disclosed,” said Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC).

Meadows and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) called for Attorney General Jeff Sessions to step down over an “alarming number” of contacts between Justice Department and FBI officials and journalists.

Republicans demanded information Thursday from Justice Department officials about an April meeting between reporters and Andrew Weissman, a veteran federal prosecutor now working under special counsel Robert Mueller.

After a week in which Bannon has seen his star fall in the wake of comments he made to author Michael Wolff — and the threat of being booted from Breitbart — Bannon offered up apologies to Trump as well as his son who he had accused of “treason.”

“Donald Trump, Jr. is both a patriot and a good man. He has been relentless in his advocacy for his father and the agenda that has helped turn our country around,” he wrote, adding, “My support is also unwavering for the president and his agenda — as I have shown daily in my national radio broadcasts, on the pages of Breitbart News and in speeches and appearances from Tokyo and Hong Kong to Arizona and Alabama.”

“My comments about the meeting with Russian nationals came from my life experiences as a Naval officer stationed aboard a destroyer whose main mission was to hunt Soviet submarines to my time at the Pentagon during the Reagan years when our focus was the defeat of ‘the evil empire’ and to making films about Reagan’s war against the Soviets and Hillary Clinton’s involvement in selling uranium to them,” he continued, before attempting to quash comments he made about Russian collusion with the Trump campaign.

“Everything I have to say about the ridiculous nature of the Russian ‘collusion’ investigation I said on my 60 Minutes interview. There was no collusion and the investigation is a ‘witch hunt,'” he stated.

As a college student on staff at a church in Texas more than 20 years ago, I regretfully had a sexual incident with a female high school senior in the church. I apologized and sought forgiveness from her, her parents, her discipleship group, the church staff, and the church leadership, who informed the congregation. In agreement with wise counsel, I took every step to respond in a biblical way.

I resigned from ministry and moved back home to Memphis. I accepted full responsibility for my actions. I was and remain very remorseful for the incident and deeply regret the pain I caused her and her family, as well as the pain I caused the church and God’s Kingdom.

There has never been another situation remotely similar in my life before or after that occurrence. The incident happened before Amanda and I were engaged and I shared every aspect of this situation with her before I asked her to marry me. I further disclosed this incident to Chris Conlee before coming on staff at Highpoint and have shared with key leaders throughout my tenure.

This incident was dealt with in Texas 20 years ago, but in the last few days has been presented to a wider audience. I was wrong and I accepted responsibility for my actions. I was sorry then and remain so today. Again, I sincerely ask for forgiveness from her and pray for God’s continued healing for everyone involved.

Montel Williams slams Jeff Sessions marijuana decision as ‘dream come true for Mexican cartels’

“Jeff Sessions is entitled to his ‘opinion’ on cannabis,” Williams wrote on Twitter, “but he’s not entitled to weaponize his regressive ideas about marijuana against seriously ill Americans, like me, who rely on Cannabis as medicine.”

“That’s exactly what he did today,” Williams continued.

The talk show veteran is well-known for having multiple sclerosis, and last year announced his own line of cannabis products in California.

Though many Americans oppose Sessions’ decision, the attorney general moved forward with the policy that will be “a dream come true for the Mexican cartels” that profit off of marijuana remaining illegal.

President Trump will be crowing a fake news champion.

Trump tweeted Tuesday evening he will be announcing awards for the "most dishonest and corrupt media" on Monday.
