Trump and Pence clock in a staggeringly committed and sincere 30-second visit to the MLK Memorial

Kaitlan Collins
@kaitlancollins

President Trump and Vice President Pence just made an unannounced trip to the Martin Luther King Jr. memorial in Washington. They stood in front of it for approximately 30 seconds with their heads bowed before turning and leaving without making remarks.

A Nicolle Wallace gem, a real "keeper," in case you missed it...via Rick Wilson on Twitter.

OMG I have never loved @NicolleDWallace more than after she described Rudy and Barr as "Two tarantulas in a bowl."

Trump: I was sworn into office on January 20, 2017...So appropriate that today is also MLK jr DAY

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

It was exactly three years ago today, January 20, 2017, that I was sworn into office. So appropriate that today is also MLK jr DAY. African-American Unemployment is the LOWEST in the history of our Country, by far. Also, best Poverty, Youth, and Employment numbers, ever. Great!

Pence honors MLK at Tennessee church by listing Trump policy goals

This Sunday during an MLK celebration at the Holy City Church of God in Christ in Raleigh, Tennessee, where Vice President Mike Pence was in attendance, Bishop Vincent Mathews Jr. referred to Pence as “one of the “most persecuted Christians in America,” according to The Christian Post.

“One thing I love about this man of God … is that he is one of the most persecuted Christians in America,” Mathews Jr. said. “The biggest criticism that he gets all over television and everywhere else is that he actually believes the Bible. They hate him for believing the Bible.”

In his speech to the 800-member congregation, Pence praised Dr. King as “one of the heroes of my youth.”

Frankly, to be here in Memphis on this occasion, the city where he spent his last days, is deeply humbling to me. He left this world too soon. April 4th, 1968, at the age of 39,” Pence said.

While Mathews Jr. assured the audience that Pence wasn’t in attendance as a campaign stunt, Pence nevertheless made sure to rattle off some of President Trump’s policy goals, including the $250 million in annual funding to historically black colleges and universities permanent under federal law thanks to the Trump administration. As The Christian Post points out, parishioners of the Church of God in Christ are predominantly African American.

Trump re-tweets White House RE: MLK, saves his own tweets for his favorite subject, Trump.

YES, there is a tweet honoring MLK in his Twitter feed, but you'll have to hunt for it. It's buried in an avalanche of tweets about his "95% rating in the Republican party," the "strong and united" Republicans, impeachment, and more.

Richard Shelby's (R-AL) BOLD Trump impeachment defense: "He's human, and things happen"

Axios
@axios

Pressed on whether it was appropriate for Trump to ask Ukraine and China to investigate the Bidens, Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) said on ABC's "This Week" that the president is a "human" and that "things happen."

Trump misquotes Pelosi, via beloved Fox screech owl Pirro, to suit his impeachment defense agenda.

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

“Nancy Pelosi said, it’s not a question of proof, it’s a question of allegations! Oh really?” @JudgeJeanine @FoxNews What a disgrace this Impeachment Scam is for our great Country!

THE ACTUAL PELOSI REMARKS:

Q: Madam Speaker, what is your response to Senate Republicans who say they shouldn't have to consider new evidence like the Parnas material because it wasn't included in the House investigation?

Speaker Pelosi. No, it’s – they’re afraid of the truth. The American people have seen the allegations, and they’re allegations. We need to see more evidence that would be contained in the documentation. So, this is just another avoiding of the facts and the truth on their part. They don't want to see documents. They don't want to hear from eyewitnesses. They don't want to – they want to ignore anything new that comes up.

We saw a strong case, an infallible, undeniable case for the impeachment of the President, so no future president would ever think she or he could get away with what President Trump has been getting away with in his view. Any further evidence should not be avoided and now it is in the – the ball is in the court of the Senate.

Public opinion will have a lot to do with this. Since we passed ours and sent it over, public opinion has grown enormously for seeing witnesses, eyewitnesses and documentation and they'll just have to contend with the public on that.

Trump throws pity party over being "great" and "belittled" in new Rucker "Stable Genius" book

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

Another Fake Book by two third rate Washington Post reporters, has already proven to be inaccurately reported, to their great embarrassment, all for the purpose of demeaning and belittling a President who is getting great things done for our Country, at a record clip. Thank you!

Impeachment managers release trial memorandum detailing why Trump must be removed from office

House impeachment managers released an in-depth trial memorandum laying out the case for convicting President Donald Trump during his Senate impeachment trial.

The memorandum was released by representatives Adam Schiff (D-CA), Jerry Nadler (D-NY), Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), Val Demings (D-FL), Jason Crow (D-CO) and Sylvia Garcia (D-FL).

The document divides the argument by the House of Representatives into three points.

“The Senate should convict President Trump of abuse of power,” is the first section.
