Autistic Man Worked at Applebee’s for Almost a Year Without a Paycheck

Autistic Man Worked at Applebee’s for Almost a Year Without a Paycheck

http://www.thedailymeal.com/news/eat/autistic-man-worked-applebee-s-almost-year-without-seeing-paycheck/102115

Caleb Dyl, 21, has autism and was placed in an Applebee’s job training program in Rhode Island where he allegedly worked unpaid for a year

An Applebee’s in Middletown, Rhode Island, has come under scrutiny for allegedly failing to pay one of their employees for almost an entire year. Caleb Dyl, 21, a man with severe autism, worked at the fast casual chain for about three days a week for a year in 2014 and never saw a paycheck. Applebee’s will now be backlogging Dyl’s paychecks for the entire time he worked there.

According to local news station WPRI, Dyl was placed in the program by the local Pawtucket-based Resources for Human Development and after a few weeks of training, was told that he would be hired as a prep cook. According to Dyl’s father, Bob, though he continued to work there for about a year and he had filled out a W-4 form, as well as signed up for direct check deposit, he technically was still in the unpaid job training program for the duration of his employment.

The Applebee’s location even treated him as an employee. “One young man told me they were lucky to have him, that Caleb just continues to work and work and he won’t stop until the end of his shift,” Bob Dyl explained.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - Cory Wells, one of the lead singers of Three Dog Night, has died. He was 74.

Wells, pictured here on the far left with the other members of his band, died unexpectedly Tuesday at his home in Dunkirk.

Beginning in September, the band postponed several shows, saying Wells needed continued treatment for a nerve problem in his back that caused severe pain.

There is no word on his cause of death or if the medical issue Wells was dealing with played any role.

Paul RYAN, a UNITER, not a DOUCHEBAG! Wait. Not a "divider." He IS a douchebag. But a uniting one!

Ryan to seek speakership if House GOP unifies behind him

http://news.yahoo.com/house-republicans-look-ryan-save-them-themselves-194716994--politics.html

WASHINGTON (AP) — Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan told GOP lawmakers late Tuesday that he will run for speaker, but only if they embrace him by week's end as their consensus candidate — an ambitious bid to impose unity on a disordered and divided House.

Dragged reluctantly into seeking a job he never wanted, Ryan spoke to his colleagues behind closed doors, telling them he will run only with the endorsement of the major caucuses in the House. That includes the hardline Freedom Caucus that chased out the current speaker and his No. 2, and will now have veto power over Ryan.

"I came to the conclusion that this is a very dire moment, not just for Congress, not just for the Republican Party, but for our country. And I think our country is in desperate need of leadership," Ryan told a press conference afterward.

"What I told members is if you can agree to these requests and if I can truly be a unifying figure, then I will gladly serve, and if I am not unifying, that is fine as well — I will be happy to stay where I am."

DU Music CHALLENGE: Name the single greatest vinyl OR CD box set from ANY genre.

Really wanted to open this up...can't immediately think of a legendary box set originally issued on vinyl that hasn't made it to CD, but just in case, that limitation is removed.

Also, ANY genre.

I'll start things off with a personal favorite, five stars all the way and music that changed the world...Miles Davis and "The Complete Studio Recordings of The Miles Davis Quintet 1965–1968."

The box set includes all songs from, as well as some rehearsal and alternative takes, the albums E.S.P., Miles Smiles, Sorcerer, Nefertiti, Miles in the Sky and the quintet tracks from Filles de Kilimanjaro and Water Babies. The tracklist is sequenced in chronological order with the alternative takes preceding the final album version. A few of the tracks were previously unissued.[

Florida Man Gets Into Argument Over Graham Crackers, Knocks Man in the Head with a Hot Sauce Bottle

http://www.thedailymeal.com/news/eat/florida-man-gets-argument-over-graham-crackers-knocks-man-head-hot-sauce-bottle/101915

Shawn Deandre Thomas was eating graham crackers at St. George’s Church in Rivera Beach, Florida, which is located in Palm Beach County. The church provides meals for homeless people. Police told NBC6 South Florida that Thomas became upset when someone asked to have his crackers.

Thomas then allegedly picked up a bottle of hot sauce and threw it at the man’s head, knocking him out and leaving him unresponsive. Another person tried to intervene and break up the fight, but Thomas apparently punched him in the throat, according to police.

The two victims were taken to a hospital and their conditions are unknown. Thomas has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, as well as battery.

The Palm Beach Post reports that Thomas has been arrested more than 40 times since 1997 and most of these charges were drug-related.

"Everything he's ever touched has turned to gold." Except the four bankruptcies, but who's counting

Donald Trump's son Eric Trump went "On The Record" tonight and said that his father is an incredible negotiator and would be a great president. "He was an amazing father and just a great guy," Trump said. "He's still to this day one of my best friends and my boss and my mentor. I have the utmost respect for him."

Trump said that he had been encouraging his father to run for president for a long time, since he's seen him behind the scenes and knows what kind of man he is.

"Everything he's ever touched has turned to gold," Trump said, noting that the GOP front-runner has a huge lead in the polls in South Carolina and Nevada.

"He's going to take it all the way to the end ... He is a man that does not lose."

Will someone PLEASE give Peter King (R-NY) a bran muffin? ANY kind of fiber. Then get off his lawn.

King: Trump Sounds Like a 'Left-Wing, Michael Moore Wacko' with 9/11 Comments

http://insider.foxnews.com/2015/10/19/does-donald-trump-have-point-about-george-w-bush-and-911

King, on the other hand, said what both Trump and Woodhouse have said is misleading and untrue, explaining that Bush had no warning of an impending attack in the U.S., only plots for potential attacks in Europe.

"Donald Trump now is sounding like a left-wing, Michael Moore wacko," King said. "If he wants to be commander-in-chief, he better understand what this is about. Because right now, he's just talking in riddles. It makes no sense."

Tick, tick, tick...Huckabee's 30 seconds away from pulling a Tyson & biting off someone's effing ear

Huckabee: 'Nonsense' to say my campaign is on 'life support'

Former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-Ark.) says it's "nonsense" to claim his presidential campaign is on "life support."

“People who say that sit in their little buildings in Washington,” Huckabee said on "Fox and Friends" Monday morning. "If they want to look at a campaign, come to Iowa.

“Every event we had last week had overflow crowds. We had people we couldn’t get in the room,” he added. “It incenses me when people who have no idea what a campaign is about pretend that ‘Huckabee’s campaign is on life support.’ ”

Huckabee also argued that his current White House run is already faring better than his previous 2008 bid. “I’m in a better place now than I was seven or eight years ago at the same time,” he said. “If people want to support the campaign, they can do it, but I get just so fed up and disgusted with pundits who don’t have clue what they’re talking about."

Peyton & Eli Manning each donate $2,700 to the Jeb Bush campaign

Peyton Manning, quarterback of the Denver Broncos, has contributed money to Jeb Bush's campaign.

According to a report, Manning donated $2,700, which is the maximum amount the Federal Election Commission will allow an individual to contribute to a primary campaign.

He follows in the footsteps of his younger brother and fellow NFL quarterback Eli Manning, who also donated $2,700 to the former Florida governor.
