If we can spend $200M to put troops on the border, we can fix Florida's election system in 2 years.

Mother Jones just posted this:

With Writing on the Wall, Democrats Mourn Florida Races They Could Have Won
“Andrew Gillum turned out the vote,” said a Democratic official. But people “just didn’t know how to vote.”

Now, I know the Republicans have no interest in fixing it.

But I also don't think we should just walk away from the midterms and say "Oh well, Florida's fucked up, and there's not much we can do about it."

Open to reasons (other than the Republicans) why this can't be fixed before the presidential election.

Trump tells Fox News' Chris Wallace that he believes wildfires in California are mainly due to "management" and not climate change.

"Maybe [climate change] contributes a little bit -- the big problem we have is management."

POTUS cites inadequate raking of leaves as a cause.

Trump insists he isn't "agitated" by Mueller, then rages about Mueller, then says it'll all be fine

“I’m not agitated, it’s a hoax,” Trump said. “The whole thing is a hoax.”

A reporter in the White House noted that Trump seemed particularly unhappy with Mueller on Thursday morning.

“No, it’s just a continuation,” Trump replied. “You can go — there should have never been an investigation because there was never anything done wrong. There was no collusion.”

“You would have known about it a long time ago if there was. There was nothing — they should have never had it. They have wasted millions and millions of dollars,” the president continued.

Trump described the investigation as a “witch hunt,” but insisted that Mueller would not cause problems for him. “I’m sure it will be just fine,” he remarked.

"In private Mr. Trump is apparently not feeling so fine" (about Pence's loyalty)

“Mike, will you be my running mate?” Mr. Trump asked Vice President Pence, who stood up, raised his hand, and nodded.

***

But in private Mr. Trump is apparently not feeling so fine. In recent weeks, with his electoral prospects two years from now much on his mind, Mr. Trump has focused on the person who has most publicly tethered his fortunes to him. In one conversation after another he has asked aides and advisers a pointed question: Is Mike Pence loyal?

Mr. Trump has repeated the question so many times that he has alarmed some of his advisers. The president has not openly suggested dropping Mr. Pence from the ticket and picking another running mate, but the advisers say those kinds of questions usually indicate that he has grown irritated with someone.

But some Trump advisers, primarily outside the White House, have suggested to him that while Mr. Pence remains loyal, he may have used up his utility. These advisers argue that Mr. Trump has forged his own relationship with evangelical voters, and that what he might benefit from more is a running mate who could help him with women voters, who disapprove of him in large numbers.

Trump won't visit troops in war zones...it would "validate missions he doesn't truly believe in"

Trump repeatedly boasts about boosting the Pentagon budget, and he enjoys giving speeches before cheering troops or military hardware, but he has been reluctant to visit troops in war zones, reported the New York Times.

His immediate predecessors, George W. Bush and Barack Obama, each made four visits to troops in Afghanistan, the same number of visits Bush made to Iraq, which Obama visited once.

Aides told the newspaper that Trump has not made visits to war zones because he does not really want them serving there in the first place.

They said a presidential visit would validate missions he doesn’t truly believe in.

Trump, who got a military deferment for bone spurs during the Vietnam War era, has also not made special trips to visit troops deployed at American bases overseas.
