Yes. YES. Notorious suck-up Paul Ryan actually swooned over Trump "hitting a home run."

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-speech-congress_us_58b642fee4b060480e0cde02?

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) blasted out praise immediately after Trump had glad-handed his way out the House chamber, calling the speech “a home run” and thanking Trump for taking the lead on repealing Obamacare and reforming the tax code, long a priority for the congressman.

“I want to thank President Trump for putting us on a path to a better future,” Ryan said in the statement.

Ryan, though, may come to rethink that enthusiasm in the coming weeks and months.

Because Trump in many ways boxed in his Capitol Hill party mates even as he provided scant details on what should be done.

Trump: Obama created more debt than "all previous administrations combined."

I was working on a screen shot for you folks and missed the crowd reaction, but yes...he said it.

This is fucking SURREAL. He's not even looking in the Democrats' direction.

Repubs doing the standing O, trained seal thing.

Dems, for the most part, sitting silent.

He's looking at the Repubs and occasionally dead center to the camera but not turning his head at all in the direction of the Democrats.

Nancy Pelosi: Trump "uses the charm offensive -- which is offensive, very offensive"

Pelosi discussed the first White House meeting that she and other lawmakers had with the President after he was inaugurated, when he insisted that millions of votes were fraudulent and Pelosi told him he was wrong.

Beyond that widely reported incident, Pelosi said Trump worked very hard in the meeting to charm lawmakers, especially Democrats, though she conceded Trump worked harder on Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer because he probably knows she is a "lost cause."

"He uses the charm offensive -- which is offensive, very offensive," said Pelosi. She also described the President's son-in-law Jared Kushner, a top White House aide, as starry-eyed to the point that he missed the mark with Democrats.

"We went to the meeting when Jared was there -- and he said, 'Is everyone so excited about the change?' And we're like 'What?' I said, 'No, we're so excited about the women's march,'" recalled Pelosi.

Trump Child Care Plan: 70% of benefits to those making $100K+, 25% to those making $200K+ #MAGA!

Making child care more affordable is one of Trump's signature promises to voters. It's listed in his contract with the American voter. His daughter Ivanka Trump played a large role in crafting the plan, which includes three new tax benefits.

Just about everyone agrees that child care costs in America are astronomical. It now costs more to put a kid in child care than college (if you get in-state tuition).

But an analysis by the Tax Policy Center finds that Trump's proposal is a gift to the rich. The tax experts at TPC say 70% of the benefits will go to families that make $100,000 or more. And 25% will go to people earning $200,000 or more.

"Trump has identified a real challenge affecting working families, but his proposal would do little or nothing to help them," Elaine Maag, an expert at the Tax Policy Center, told CNNMoney.

Sessions to give remarks on African American History Month

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is scheduled to deliver a speech at the Justice Department Tuesday to celebrate African American History Month.

Sessions's 1986 nomination to a federal judgeship was derailed by accusations of racism during his tenure as a U.S. attorney. Those accusations resurfaced during his confirmation hearing to be attorney general, but they didn't stop Sessions from winning confirmation.

Sessions was accused of trying to curb voting rights of black voters and for making racist comments to colleagues.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) made headlines when she attempted to read Coretta Scott King’s letter during debate over Sessions's nomination. The letter criticized and urged Congress to block Jeff Session’s 1986 nomination to be a federal judge.

McConnell won't back Trump's State Dept deep cuts, disagrees with House on Obamacare

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday said he would not back slashing State Department funding as the Trump administration is expected to propose, adding that deep cuts would not pass the legislative chamber.

Speaking to reporters, McConnell also said Republicans, who control both the Senate and the House of Representatives, are still not in agreement on a healthcare plan to replace Obamacare.
