Lindsey Graham lavishes Trump with praise day after attack on John McCain: 'I have come to like him'

Graham, who was purportedly one of McCain’s best friends, issued a statement on Twitter defending the war hero.

“Nothing about his service will ever be changed or diminished,” Graham wrote.

But at an event in South Carolina on Monday, Graham expressed affection for the president, according to Post and Courier correspondent Caitlin Byrd.

“I’ve come to like him, and he likes him…it makes for a great working relationship,” Graham reportedly joked. “When it comes to Trump we need to help him.”

The Fake News Media is working overtime to blame me for the horrible attack in New Zealand. They will have to work very hard to prove that one. So Ridiculous!

Putin has signed legislation enabling Russian authorities to block websites or Internet accounts that publish what they deem to be "fake news" & penalizing those who post material found to be insulting to state officials, state symbols or Russian society.

The law also establishes fines of up to 100,000 rubles for insulting the Russian authorities, government agencies, the state, the public, the flag, or the constitution. Repeat offenders will face bigger fines and can be jailed for up to 15 days.

One of my greatest wishes for 2020 is the removal of the words "the base" from our daily vocabulary.

Of course, every past president has had a "base" of sorts...supporters who were all in at the beginning and stayed there to the end.

But the "base" for Obama...even for GWB...didn't wear those ridiculous fucking red hats, and didn't immediately conjure specific and negative images.

I long for the end of hats.

I long for the end of Trump running for re-election and hearing about how "the base" is sticking with him.

I long for the end of Trump attacking John McCain because "the base" loves it when he does.

I look forward to "the base" no longer having an enabler, someone who...in their own blind ignorance...they see as a "champion" for anything beyond his own self-enrichment and ego gratification.

Profiles In Courage: Lindsey Graham

A CNN panel states the obvious:

Trump’s attack on John McCain ‘completely emasculated’ Lindsey Graham — who knows he can’t fight back: CNN

Powers made the remark during a discussion of Trump’s refusal to back down on anything, which plays well to his base.

“The John McCain thing is a perfect example of that,” chimed in host John Berman. “He won’t back down against John McCain, who passed away in August. The president is maintaining this John McCain thing months after the death of a senator.”

“Obviously what he said was despicable, it’s so disrespectful to his family,” Powers said. “I think that part of the reason he does it is obviously he has all his issues with McCain, but it’s also a chance for him to assert his dominance over the Republican Party.”

It’s completely emasculating of Lindsey Graham, who — this is his best friend and who knows he can’t really do anything,” Powers continued. “If he responds to this he’s going to probably, well, suffer the wrath of Trump and have his followers turn against him. So it’s a kind of alpha male move to really say like ‘there’s nothing you can do about this. I’m going to say the worst possible thing and there’s nothing you can do.'”

@realDonaldTrump

Were @FoxNews weekend anchors, @ArthelNeville and @LelandVittert, trained by CNN prior to their ratings collapse? In any event, that’s where they should be working, along with their lowest rated anchor, Shepard Smith!
