HANDS UP from EVERYONE who thought Cantor wouldn't play the "I did it MYYYYYYYYYYY way" card.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/06/15/eric-cantor-election-loss_n_5496419.html

WASHINGTON -- House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.), who lost his Republican primary last week in a surprise upset by economics professor Dave Brat, said Sunday he has no regrets about his campaign or time in office. Now, Cantor said, he just wants to move forward.

"I don't have any regrets, because I remain focused on the mission that I'm about," Cantor told CNN's Dana Bash on "State of the Union."

Cantor will step down as majority leader at the end of July, and serve out the rest of his congressional term outside of a leadership role. He said on "State of the Union" that he had not yet determined what he will do next.

He did say, though, that he will vote for Brat in the upcoming general election.

46 years after Glen Campbell sang the song, I wonder if the Wichita Lineman is STILL on the line?

Did he get to come down for pee breaks?

Did people throw sandwiches and stuff up to him?

I mean, what was the story? Did he go up and come down or is he STILL up there?

Answer me, dammit!

R.I.P. Aussie rock legend Doc Neeson (Lead vocalist of The Angels)

Over the Top: Remembering Australian Rock Legend Doc Neeson

"Okay, this is it, folks, over the top!" With that promise, Doc Neeson, the long-legged howler in Australian nuclear-boogie band the Angels, leads 1400 boozed-and-ready ravers at Melbourne's Hotel Manhattan into the high-speed ecstasy of "Take a Long Line," from the 1978 album, Face to Face. As guitarist-brothers Rick and John Brewster drill the hall's beer-sweat-and-cigarette fog with double-buzzsaw riffing, Neeson – a skyscraper-sized Mick Jagger in an improbably formal tuxedo and silver-satin waistcoat – "alternately stalks the stage wearing his mike stand like a crucifix and leaps into the humid air with manic glee," as I wrote soon after that August, 1983 gig.

"In this country, they call our band a 'rage,'" Neeson explained before the show, during an interview for an Australian-rock-scene story I was writing for Musician magazine. "And a rage here is a great time."

In their prime, 1977-1991, Neeson and the Angels were an explosive and theatrical rage – a guaranteed great time anywhere, including America where they stubbornly fought to repeat the massive success they enjoyed. It never happened, mostly for dumb reasons like U.S.-label indifference and trademark issues over the Angels' name. Most of their records came out here as by Angel City. But I never stopped writing about and believing in their addicting blitz. I had 1991's Beyond Salvation blasting on my iPod early last week, as I routinely do.

Two days later, I learned of Neeson's death on June 4th in Australia, at 67 from brain cancer. The loss was acknowledged there with nationwide press, TV and online tributes. "A mighty talent . . . You showed us how," wrote an equally towering peer, Midnight Oil vocalist Peter Garrett. Over here, Axl Rose paid rowdy honor at Guns N' Roses' June 4th show in Las Vegas, covering the locomotive "Marseilles" from Face to Face.

ANXIOUSLY awaiting my Swiss Army Knife replacement (clipped by airport security on 5/12)...

OK, so I haven't flown in D-E-C-A-D-E-S.

Parked in the "Economy" lot at McCarren Airport in Vegas.

Took the shuttle to my terminal.

Got in line for screening and realized I had not taken out my Swiss Army Knife, which is in my pants pocket 24/7 x 365.

"Do you want me to dispose of this, sir?"

MY ASS!

It was in PERFECT condition, if this fucker DID NOT just take it HOME, it went into the big bucket of stuff these bastards post and sell on eBay (my brother in law worked at San Francisco Int'l Airport, and yes, this is EXACTLY what happens to things they confiscate).

ANYWAY...the replacement...the "Spartan," pictured below, is on its way, due today or tomorrow.

Oh BABY...Don Cheadle is going to KILL as the star of the new Miles Davis biopic.

Don Cheadle has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise money for the Miles Davis biopic that he's been working on for years. Cheadle will make his feature directorial debut with the film, titled Miles Ahead, in addition to co-writing it and starring as Davis.

Cheadle kicked off the IndieGogo campaign on June 3rd with a goal of $325,000. In the four days since it launched, he has raised $119,666 and has until July 10th to raise the rest. Perks for campaign donors associate producer credits, set visits to both Miles Ahead and Cheadle's Showtime series House of Lies, Miles Davis box sets and T-shirts.

In the video for the campaign, Cheadle talks about how Davis rejected the term "jazz" for his work and preferred to call it "social music," which Cheadle ties into his method of fundraising. "I think it's only befitting that the making of this movie be a social experience," he says. The video also shows Cheadle talking to Davis' son Erin David and nephew Vince Wilburn, recounting how when Miles Davis was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, Wilburn and David were asked who would play Davis in a movie about his life, and they stunned Cheadle by naming him.

The film will focus on a brief period in Davis' life in the mid-1970s, when he returned to recording and performing music after a long absence battling drug addiction. Davis contemporary Herbie Hancock is working with Cheadle on the film, along with Robert Glasper. The film will also star Ewan McGregor as "an unreliable Rolling Stone reporter," according to Cheadle.
