As Eugene Robinson argued in the Washington Post on Monday, however, it may be the other way around. Trump may be stepping up all of his most Trumpian behavior because he is terrified that hes on track to lose.
It overly flatters Trump to fear hes playing three-dimensional chess or employing some kind of exotic political jiujitsu. What were hearing in his harangues and reading in his tweets is naked fear. And he has reason to be very afraid, wrote Robinson. Some traumatized Democrats may have lost all faith in polls following the 2016 election, but Trump hasnt. We know he pays close attention to the numbers. We also know he watches Fox News obsessively, not as a way to follow current events but as a barometer of his support among his base.
Indeed, the Fox News national poll of registered voters showed Trump losing to former vice president Joe Biden by 10 points, 49 percent to 39 percent, said Robinson. It also showed him losing to Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) by six points and edging the other top-tier Democratic candidates, Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Kamala D. Harris (D-Calif.), by a single point each.
Another survey released last week must have made Trump break out in a cold sweat, added Robinson. A Quinnipiac poll of registered voters in Ohio a state Trump won in 2016 and absolutely needs to win again showed him trailing Biden by eight points, 50 percent to 42 percent, and statistically tied with all the other leading Democratic contenders. Losing Ohio would almost surely mean a landslide electoral defeat.

President Donald Trump on Monday got called out for making a delusional statement to a group of first responders during a signing ceremony to commemorate legislation that will permanently authorize the September 11th victim compensation fund.
During the ceremony, Trump claimed that he was at the site of the World Trade Center after the 9/11 attacks nearly 18 years ago assisting the police and fire fighters who were helping to rescue people.
Many of those affected were fire fighters, police officers, and other first responders, the president said. And I was down there also, but Im not considering myself a first responder, but I was down there, I spent a lot of time down there with you.
There is no evidence that Trump helped search for survivors at Ground Zero, and retired New York City Fire Department Deputy Chief Richard Alles told Snopes last year that he never heard of a group of rescuers hired by Trump to help out. Additionally, Alles said that additional help from private responders was not necessary.

Trump: "Al Sharpton came to my office during the presidential campaign to apologize for..."
Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
Al Sharpton would always ask me to go to his events. He would say, its a personal favor to me. Seldom, but sometimes, I would go. It was fine. He came to my office in T.T. during the presidential campaign to apologize for the way he was talking about me. Just a conman at work!

Trump retweets U.K. RWNJ Katie Hopkins calling Baltimore a "shithole." #BeBest
Not going to share it here, it's on Trump's Twitter feed if you need to see it.
He's ramping up the racism, pulling in his "shithole countries" rhetoric to now include "shithole cities" in the USA.
This will end somewhere, although it's hard to tell when from where we're standing now.

House Dems authorize subpoenas for senior White House aides' official communications
By ANDREW DESIDERIO 07/25/2019 11:32 AM EDT

The House Oversight and Reform Committee voted on Thursday to authorize subpoenas for senior White House officials communications via private email accounts and messaging applications, a significant escalation in a years-long, bipartisan effort to learn more about potential violations of federal record-keeping laws.
Thursdays vote by the Democrat-led panel came after the White House refused to turn over the messages voluntarily earlier this month including senior adviser Jared Kushners WhatsApp communications with foreign officials, senior adviser Ivanka Trumps use of a private email account to conduct official business, and former chief strategist Stephen Bannons use of a personal mobile device for White House business.
It makes clear that White House records belong to the public not the president, Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) said. The committee has already received evidence of multiple senior officials using their personal accounts to conduct official business.
On a party-line vote, the committee authorized Cummings to subpoena all communications sent or received since President Donald Trump took office that were not forwarded to official email accounts within 20 days, as required by law. Cummings can also subpoena information about whether those messages contained classified information.

Elijah Cummings has had his chance to address it (crime & conditions in Baltimore) for decades, and he hasnt gotten it done.
@PeteHegseth @foxandfriends How can he get it done when he just wants to use his Oversight Committee to hurt innocent people and divide our Country!
