OOOPS! Morning Joke, supposedly a "former" Republican, refers to GOP as "us"

‘I’m tired of us being the stupid party’: Morning Joe warns GOP must answer for Roy Moore’s radical ignorance

https://www.rawstory.com/2017/09/im-tired-of-us-being-the-stupid-party-morning-joe-warns-gop-must-answer-for-roy-moores-radical-ignorance/

The “Morning Joe” host announced in July that he’d left the Republican Party to become an independent, but he expressed sadness at what the GOP had become to nominate Trump — who never understood the basics of health care reform — and select Moore — who learned during a radio interview about the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

“I’m tired of the debates about whether the Republican Party will be the conservative party or the liberal party,” Scarborough said. “I’m just tired of us being the stupid party.”

“(Moore) is so isolated from any news, from any knowledge of the debate in Washington, D.C., that you even wonder why he’s applying for the job?” Scarborough said. “I mean, this would be — this would be like somebody that decided to be a judge that didn’t even know we didn’t have a religious freedom amendment in our Constitution, the First Amendment.”

The former Republican lawmaker recognized some viewers might blow off his criticism as antipathy, but he insisted he was trying to help the party he’d left.

A little morning humor from "PatriotHole"..."I May Not Agree With Everything Trump Says, But..."

I May Not Agree With Everything Trump Says, But It’s My Duty As An American To Repeat All Of His Talking Points Basically Verbatim

http://www.clickhole.com/blogpost/i-may-not-agree-everything-trump-says-its-my-duty--6411

As a conservative voter, there are parts of Trump’s agenda that I agree with and other actions he’s taken that I find troubling or simply bizarre. However, as a patriotic American it’s my duty to memorize Trump’s talking points, ignore my own misgivings, and defend the president by quoting him essentially verbatim.

I’ve been a Republican my whole life, and my main issues are lower taxes and protecting states’ rights, so I was shocked and upset when Donald Trump tweeted that he wanted to ban transgender people from the military. But I didn’t whine or complain or voice my conscience; I simply did what I knew was right and worked small-minded, offensive arguments about how trans soldiers are distracting and unfit for service into everyday conversations to blindly turn myself into a pale shadow of the president.

Whenever President Trump says something that I find morally reprehensible, it is my sworn duty to essentially copy and paste his words into a Facebook post prefaced with “Here’s what I believe.” And I wouldn’t be a patriot if I didn’t fight with anyone in the comments pointing out the discriminatory or duplicitous nature of the statement even though I often agree with them 100 percent.

Before attacking the president by pointing out the many flaws in his reasoning, why don’t you try agreeing with everything he says? The only people complaining about Trump are biased against Trump according to Trump, so you can’t trust anyone that questions the president, even when that person is you. This is America. If you’re not prepared to sell your values down the river to spew President Trump’s talking points word for word, well, you can find a different country to live in.

"A lot of shippers" don't want Trump to help Puerto Rico. Many shippers. A shitload of shippers.

Trump: ‘A Lot Of Shippers’ Don’t Want Me To Waive The Jones Act To Help Puerto Rico
It appears he’s considering an industry’s profits over aid to 3.5 million Americans facing a humanitarian crisis.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/trump-puerto-rico-jones-act-maria_us_59cc281ee4b05063fe0ef7ec?ncid=inblnkushpmg00000009

WASHINGTON ― President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he’s considering waiving the Jones Act for Puerto Rico ― an arguably outdated law that imposes exorbitant shipping costs on the island ― but tempered his support for it because he’s getting pushback from the shipping industry.

“We’re thinking about that,” he said at a White House press event. “But we have a lot of shippers and … a lot of people who work in the shipping industry that don’t want the Jones Act lifted. And we have a lot of ships out there right now.”

The 1920 law requires that all goods shipped between U.S. ports be carried by American-owned and operated ships, which are more expensive vessels than others in the global marketplace. That means Puerto Rico has to pay double the costs for goods from the U.S. mainland compared with neighboring islands ― and that U.S. vessels are making bank. The law costs Puerto Rico hundreds of millions of dollars every year, and now, in the midst of a humanitarian crisis, the costs to import food, fuel and other supplies will spike amid the island’s economic devastation.

Trump’s comments are a galling admission that he’s weighing an industry’s profits against the needs of 3.5 million Americans facing “apocalyptic” conditions in Puerto Rico. Most people there haven’t had water, power or cell service since Hurricane Maria decimated the island last week. Roads are washed away or covered in debris. Many Americans still haven’t heard from loved ones after a week, and at least 13 people have died.

For my fellow Web Designers out there...it's a new episode of "How Clients Think."

I had a client back in California...in the mid-to-late 90s, I did a site for them. My method of doing it at the time, a common one for Web Designers who preferred the WYSIWYG method over writing raw HTML in Notepad, was to lay it out in Photoshop, slice it up in Fireworks, and finish it off in Dreamweaver. At the time, it was a pretty nice site. My client like it too.

The man who hired me passed away several years ago. He was, as they say, a gentleman's gentleman, and I really felt a loss when he left this world. I had several changes of contacts after that, the last one being somewhat high maintenance. She'd send me an email, there would always be information left out, so I'd have questions. I'd reply the same day, wait two weeks for a response, forward my email to her, wait another two weeks, and I'd do this a few more times before I just gave up.

Then, six months (or longer) after that, she'd email me and tell me she was concerned about my ability to serve them since I had moved 3000 miles away.

Their domain was up for renewal this past summer. Rather than pay her domain and hosting fees, she told me she wanted to "go in a new direction." Today I found out exactly what that new direction was.

They signed up for a Weebly template account and simply copied all of the content I created into a new, plain white, uninspiring template. At first I thought "WordPress," but then looked at the source code and found out that it was Weebly. I saw no new content whatsoever...just a site I built sitting in a Weebly template.

I was expecting something magnificent, based on her description of the organization's needs and her lack of faith in my ability to deliver. Instead, it's like Joni sang...they paved Paradise and put up a parking lot.

Client loyalty in the realm of Web Design is a rarity. I do still have clients from California that I serve faithfully, while others just revamped the site and never said goodbye. It's their right to make changes as they see fit, but it does sting a little when you go out of your way to do the most professional work you can, and you're treated as something disposable.

And because the client was so high maintenance, I'm OK with it, just a little disappointed that they went for the low-hanging fruit.

End of sad story...thanks to anyone who took the time to read it.
