Trump's response to the Odessa mass shooting during a media availability on Sunday was to thank law enforcement and say "it could've been worse." He didn't say a word about the victims or about guns. He quickly moved on to other topics.

Speaking with Politico, Khan — a frequent critic of the American president — was asked about the cancellation of Trump’s trip to Poland to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the start of World War II.

Noting the president has been out golfing all weekend, Khan sniped at the president, saying, “He’s clearly busy dealing with a hurricane out on the golf course.”

Khan went on to attack Trump for emboldening racists in the U.S. and abroad.

“These people have been inspired by mainstream politicians who subscribe to their point of view,” Khan explained. Trump “is a guy who amplifies racist tweets; amplifies the tweets of fascists; says things that are deeply objectionable. If I don’t stand up and call that out I think I’m doing a disservice to Londoners who chose me as their mayor.”

The two months between Independence Day and Labor Day offered a fresh and vivid portrait of the president as seen by Trump’s critics — incompetent, indecisive, intolerant and ineffective.

White House officials promote the summer of 2019 as one of historic achievement for Trump, offering up a list of more than two dozen accomplishments. But privately, many of the president’s advisers and outside allies bemoan what they consider to be a period of missed opportunity and self-sabotage.

In the final lull before the 2020 campaign starts to intensify this fall, Trump could have worked strategically to solidify his position and broaden his appeal. Instead, his words and actions this summer served to further divide the country and to harden public opinion about the ever-polarizing president.

President Donald Trump is spending his morning filling up the Labor Day news hole by lashing at in all directions and pumping out tweet after tweet attacking his perceived enemies.

Moments after accusing former FBI Director James Comey a “traitor,” the president went off on another tirade on the Washington Post and media in general.

“The Amazon Washington Post did a story that I brought racist attacks against the “Squad.” No, they brought racist attacks against our Nation. All I do is call them out for the horrible things they have said. The Democrats have become the Party of the Squad!” he wrote before adding, “The LameStream Media has gone totally CRAZY! Trump’s one brush to date with an actual natural disaster—other than that goddamn confection of Aquanet, 1970s shag carpet remnants, and lemur fur glued to his skull—was the complete fuckup of his response to Hurricanes Irma and Maria when they struck Puerto Rico in September 2017.

Of course he failed as a president and as a leader. Anyone who expected different results wasn’t paying attention; it was and remains an epic clusterfuck. Because he’s an accidental president, an inherent racist, an ignoramus as to American history, and a natural-born fuckup, Trump and his shambolic clown-show administration botched it from start to finish, and they didn’t even really seem to care.

Why bother? In Trump’s mind, Puerto Ricans aren’t Americans, so why not let the Sea Mexicans get by with hate tweets, paper towel-tossing, and endless bitching about the needs of a U.S. territory that took a direct hit from two storms of historic proportions.

Trump’s inability to let go of his petty little bitch grievances with Puerto Rican local leaders in an American territory where American citizens died and where those same American citizens are still recovering—slowly—from those two hurricanes was revived this week when it looked like Dorian might strike the American island:

President Donald Trump is monitoring Hurricane Dorian while he plays golf at Camp David, according to Florida Sen. Rick Scott (R), whose state is expected to be hit by the storm.

“You were at Camp David,” Fox News host Chris Wallace noted during an interview with Scott on Sunday. “How involved is the president, how often is he getting updates?”

“We got updates while I was there,” Scott said. “He got updates, I know he played golf yesterday and got updates while he was playing golf.”

The president has also tweeted about the storm, which could batter his Mar-a-Lago resort.
