R.I.P. musician, activist, and Bridge School founder Pegi Young

Musician and activist Pegi Young died of cancer yesterday at the age of 66, a post on her official Facebook page confirms.

"With great sadness, we confirm that on January 1st, after a yearlong battle with cancer, Pegi Young – mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, musician, activist and co-founder of the Bridge School – passed away surrounded by her friends and family in her native California," according to the statement. "We request that the families' privacy be respected at this time."

Born Margaret Morton on Dec. 1, 1952, Young released five albums over her decade-long recording career. She also provided background vocals on numerous albums and tours with her ex-husband Neil Young, whom she married in 1978 and divorced in 2014.

In 1986, Young co-founded the Bridge School, which is dedicated to educating children with severe speech and physical impairments. She was inspired to do so after being unable to find a suitable educational plan for the couple's son Ben, who was born with cerebral palsy.

As it turns out, Pelosi has the perfect plan to trap Trump and the Senate GOP.

On Wednesday, flanked by incoming House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Pelosi told reporters the first thing her House would do:

In other words, Pelosi plans to introduce and pass the same funding bill that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) shepherded through the Senate by voice vote two weeks ago — which happens to not include funding for Trump’s wall!

By passing this bill in the Senate but blocking it in the House on Trump’s order, Republicans boxed themselves in. They cannot easily claim that their own bill they just voted for in the Senate is soft on border security. Nor can they pin the blame on Pelosi for not retaking up the alternative House bill that included Trump’s wall funding, because that bill was rejected by the Senate.

"I was in the White House all by myself for six, seven days. It was very lonely."

“You know, I was in the White House all by myself for six, seven days. It was very lonely. My family was down in Florida,” Trump recounted. He described channel-flipping and watching a different network — PBS — to fill the time.

“I felt I should be here just in case people wanted to come and negotiate the border security,” Trump explained.

“I was all by myself in the White House — it’s a big, big house — except for all the guys out on the lawn with machine guns,” Trump said, referencing the Secret Service and military personnel who guard the White House year-round.

“I was waving to them. ... These are great people. And they don’t play games. They don’t, like, wave. They don’t even smile,” he said. “I was hoping that maybe somebody would come back and negotiate. But they didn’t do that.”

Pelosi: "No, no. Nothing for the wall. How many more times can we say no? Nothing for the wall."

Pelosi, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and other congressional Democrats have rejected President Donald Trump's calls for $5 billion of funding for a wall on the southern border.

"Are you willing to come up and give him some of this money for the wall?" NBC's Savannah Guthrie asked Pelosi in an interview slated to air in full Thursday.

"No, no. Nothing for the wall," Pelosi replied. "We're talking about border security."

"We can go through this all back and forth -- no," Pelosi added. "How many more times can we say no? Nothing for the wall."

"He wrote me beautiful letters. We fell in love. Oh, would you like to see? How much? How much?"

Trump tried to shake down reporters to show his letter from Kim Jong-Un: ‘How much’ cash will you give me?

At Trump’s contentions cabinet meeting on Wednesday, he praised a letter he said he’d received from the North Korean leader, The New York Times reported.

“Those few people that I’ve shown this letter to, they’ve never written letters like that,” Trump claimed. “This is a great letter.”

This was not the first time Trump has celebrated their correspondence. At a campaign rally in September, the commander-in-chief revealed how the letters had affected him.

“He wrote me beautiful letters,” Trump told the crowd. “And they’re great letters.”

“We fell in love,” Trump added.

Trump even asked reporters what they would give him to see one of the letters.

“Oh, would you like to see what was in that letter,” Trump said.

“How much?” he asked. “How much?”

Trump uses federal funds to bypass the shutdown and open federal property connected to his hotel

While many federal employees are furloughed or out of work, one agency found funds to keep the Old Post Office Tower at the Trump International Hotel in DC open during the government shutdown.

E&E News reported Wednesday that the General Service Administration — an agency established to keep federal functions running — ponied up to fund National Park Service sites.

The Old Post Office Tower, located on the same property as the controversial Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., will benefit from the GSA’s funding.

The Daily Mail noted that the GSA is the agency that granted Trump the lease at the property to operate the hotel.
