George Carlin and Keith Olbermann Predicted A Trump Presidency in 2007 – Video

Way back in October of 2007, when Keith Olbermann had a show and comedian George Carlin was still alive, the two sat down to discuss politics and even dabbled in predicting future elections.

Olbermann asked Carlin whether or not he thought America could ever elect a “satirical president.”

Olbermann explained, “a satirical president – a guy who really has no intention of – he’s doing it as a sales tool for something else?”

(This is where we all laugh uncomfortably.)

Carlin responded that – in many ways – George Bush was this character already, and he had been elected by the people not once, but twice. Keep in mind that that was all he had to work with at the time.

Carlin is no longer here to see his prediction become a reality or to offer us his amazing insight into how to handle Trump, and Olbermann has all but gone dark. Sure he occasionally pops up to comment on the GOP train wreck, but not in any comforting way.

It’s, unfortunately, little comfort to see that these two smart, funny and insightful guys saw the writing on the wall.

GOP Cuts Disaster Preparedness Funds By $1.5 Billion Republicans Who Voted 'No' Sandy Relief Funds

In response to the deadliest spring of climate disasters in decades, House Republicans are slashing billions from disaster preparedness programs, including support for firefighters. On Tuesday, the House Appropriations Committee cut the successful Department of Energy clean car manufacturing loan program by $1.5 billion to add $1 billion to disaster relief. But they also slashed other parts of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and Homeland Security budget, including cuts of $1.5 billion from President Obama’s request for next year in firefighter assistance grants and state and local grants administered by FEMA.

when the republicans cut taxes for the top couple percent that have 80% of the money it leaves less funds for FEMA or other emergency funds, the rich buy insurance or rebuild without any help, so screw the majority by cutting and paying less taxes.

South Dakota Sioux tribe calls Keystone XL pipeline approval 'act of war'

A Native American tribe in South Dakota has called a congressional vote to approve the Keystone XL pipeline an “act of war” and vowed to close the reservation’s borders if the US government tries to install a pipeline there.

The prospective route for the pipeline, which would connect Canadian tar sands fields to the Gulf coast, runs through the 922,759-acre (1,442 sq mi) Rosebud Sioux reservation in south-central South Dakota. The House of Representatives voted 252-161 on Friday to approve the pipeline.

“I pledge my life to stop these people from harming our children and our grandchildren and our way of life and our culture and our religion here,” the tribe president, Cyril Scott, said on Monday. He represents one of nine tribal governments in the state.

Wall Street Mega-Banks Are Buying Up The World’s Water

A disturbing trend in the water sector is accelerating worldwide. The new “water barons” — the Wall Street banks and elitist multibillionaires — are buying up water all over the world at unprecedented pace.

Familiar mega-banks and investing powerhouses such as Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, Citigroup, UBS, Deutsche Bank, Credit Suisse, Macquarie Bank, Barclays Bank, the Blackstone Group, Allianz, and HSBC Bank, among others, are consolidating their control over water. Wealthy tycoons such as T. Boone Pickens, former President George H.W. Bush and his family, Hong Kong’s Li Ka-shing, Philippines’ Manuel V. Pangilinan and other Filipino billionaires, and others are also buying thousands of acres of land with aquifers, lakes, water rights, water utilities, and shares in water engineering and technology companies all over the world.

The second disturbing trend is that while the new water barons are buying up water all over the world, governments are moving fast to limit citizens’ ability to become water self-sufficient (as evidenced by the well-publicized Gary Harrington’s case in Oregon, in which the state criminalized the collection of rainwater in three ponds located on his private land, by convicting him on nine counts and sentencing him for 30 days in jail). Let’s put this criminalization in perspective:

Billionaire T. Boone Pickens owned more water rights than any other individuals in America, with rights over enough of the Ogallala Aquifer to drain approximately 200,000 acre-feet (or 65 billion gallons of water) a year. But ordinary citizen Gary Harrington cannot collect rainwater runoff on 170 acres of his private land.
