5 Ways the "Mooch Militia" Resemble the Taliban

http://www.juancole.com/2014/04/resembles-pakistans-taliban.html

I would have added that both militias are defending desert scrubland, though the Taliban are not moochers.

(By Juan Cole)

1. Federal versus local control of land

Pakistan: The Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA) of Pakistan is ruled directly from the capital, Islamabad, rather than having an elected provincial government or legislature. The local tribes such as Mehsud, from which the Taliban are recruited, want more local autonomy.
Nevada: The Federal government owns 87% of the land in Nevada and rules on land use there. Some local ranchers, such as Cliven Bundy, want local, state and county control over this land instead.

2. Conflicts over Resources

Pakistan: Local tribes in the FATA region often clash over resources such as access to irrigated land, and the Federal government has intervened: “the government would not allow any group or tribe to take arbitrary actions in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata)”
Nevada : Cliven Bundy is grazing his cattle on Federal land in order to take advantage of its pasturage (a sort of water resource) but has come into conflict with Bureau of Land Management officials.

3. Rejection of Federal authority

Pakistan: The Taliban of Northern Waziristan in FATA have their own local Emirate, rejecting the Federal government.
Nevada: Cliven Bundy and the Militia movement that supports him reject Federal ownership of land in Nevada, and only recognize the Nevada government.

4. Taking up Arms

Pakistan: Local clans in FATA have taken up arms against Federal forces where the latter have tried to assert themselves there.
Nevada: When Federal officers of the Bureau of Land Management attempted to confiscate some of Bundy’s cattle because of non-payment of grazing fees, he and his 1000 militia supporters brandished guns at the scene, threatening violence.

5. Resistance to taxes

Pakistan: Although FATA residents are exempted from Federal income tax, the government is imposing retail and other taxes on them, as with a tax on cell phones. They reject paying this phone tax to the Federal government.
Nevada: Bundy refuses to pay a grazing fee to the Federal government.

That Sean Hannity and other far right wing pundits are supporting the regional militiamen and their mooching hero rather than the US government gives you an idea what side they’d be on if they were in Pakistan…

Money Talks, Racism Walks: In Ten Minutes ESPN's Bomani Jones Lays Waste To The Sterling Issue

http://deadspin.com/in-10-minutes-espns-bomani-jones-lays-waste-to-the-ste-1569195989

Start at 6:30 if you have the time, well worth it. Apartheid in America is still the topic that must not be spoken.

Jones isn't calling anyone dumb, he is saying many commentators in the media don't care about the issues that matter. Decisions made by powerful white people like Sterling are destroying black prospects today, but the only time he gets negative widespread attention is when he tells his girlfriend to keep her black relationships private. That's not dumb, that's horrible.

What was laid waste is that it is only when the wealth of rich black people, like professional basket ball players, like the NBA executives, like sponsors and corporations, only when losing money entered the equation and was endangered did they speak out.

Jones jokes that more people read his prescient media column on the racist acts of Sterling just yesterday than in the nine years since he wrote it.

________________________

"Let's start talking about the real stuff and have people stop wagging their fingers at Sterling having an argument with his mistress aka girlfriend", says jones.

"Housing discrimination based on race is why we have so many dead kids in Chicago today", says Jones, referencing the recent violent death of a non-violent activist friend of his and the construction of massive freeways over the areas of Chicago so white people did not have to travel through black neighbourhoods created by housing discrimination by the likes of Sterling.

Jones compares the creation of black neighbourhoods purposely created by outflow of tax dollars, a place where poor kids are institutionally doomed to poor education and crumbling infrastructure as a means of repression that continues to this day, thrown crumbs of hope by the minuscule chance of winning the lottery and siring a professional basketball player......to be paid by the likes of Sterling who was instrumental in creating the whole system.

"I could delve deeper into some of the points Bomani Jones made yesterday on the Dan Le Batard Show, about how fundamentally silly this whole Donald Sterling affair sounds when you really listen to what's being said, about how exasperating it is for those of us who see the everyday effects of race to have to deal with the performative sanctimony of those who deny race's continuing impact in all but the most obvious, largely inconsequential situations, or about the collective failure of the NBA, the media, the players, the coaches, and just about everyone else to comprehend, condemn, and take action against the actually harmful things Sterling has done over the years, but instead I think the flamethrower Jones uses is plenty hot enough."

SCOTUS Says Racism Over In America - but Racists In America beg to differ......

From sea to racist sea, from the desert lands of RW extremist dirt ranchers to the fertile lands of philanthropic dirt billionaires, this land is free for white me, not for black you. The broad spectrum of racism in America was revealed this week in jaw dropping clarity.

The condensed version of RW extremism and racism is that the American Federal Constitution WAS written by all white folk and so logically it applies only to white folk, of course. And TRUE Christians of the evangelical kind, goes without saying. That mindset explains it all, including most of the hypocrisy.

President Obama is THE authority in America on the topic of racism whose words should be listened to and respected above all others, being twice elected President and all that, everyone else in comparison is a punter and a wanker on the subject, apologies and al due respect to them.

"We will suffer some occasional setbacks, but we will win this fight. This country has changed too much. People of goodwill, regardless of party, are too plentiful for those with ill will to change history's current."

Now who said that on MLK day, 2013?

(Hint - answer is in the link title)

On a related note, I think the government should just let the crazy armed racists that rushed to crazy racist Bundy's defence just be allowed to collapse under the weight of their own Wrongness
and be allowed to eat all the beef steaks they want on the Bundy ranch. Let them eat Bundy out of house and home....or fry in the sun as the backup.

AP summarizes Bundy Gate: "Bundy 'Thwarted' US Government......". Oy Ve.

Can they get anymore obvious? It was not just Fox that Obama mocked and devoured today.

thwart
THwôrt/
verb
past tense: thwarted; past participle: thwarted
prevent (someone) from accomplishing something.
"he never did anything to thwart his father"
oppose (a plan, attempt, or ambition) successfully.
"the government had been able to thwart all attempts by opposition leaders to form new parties"
synonyms: foil, frustrate, stand in the way of

Yeah, because that is what an armed and organized militia threatening violence was doing! They were thwarting, don't ya see? Just foiling and frustrating and standing in the way of......the rule of law.

The Rule of Law, for the Bundy grifters and lawbreakers - IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that Cliven Bundy

October 9, 2013 Federal Court Order of Judge Larry Hicks that the militiamen, Fox, the RW media netherworld and Bundy rail against:

United States District Court, District of Nevada

IT IS THEREFORE ORDERED that the United States’ Motion to Enforce Injunction (Doc. #50) is hereby GRANTED.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that Bundy is permanently enjoined from trespassing on the former Bunkerville Allotment.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the United States is entitled to protect the former
Bunkerville Allotment against this trespass, and all future trespasses by Bundy.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that Bundy shall remove his livestock from the former
Bunkerville Allotment within 45 days of the date hereof, and that the United States is entitled to seize and remove to impound any of Bundy’s cattle that remain in trespass after 45 days of the date hereof.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the United States is entitled to seize and remove to
impound any of Bundy’s cattle for any future trespasses, provided the United States has complied with the notice provisions under the governing regulations of the United States Department of the Interior.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that Bundy shall not physically interfere with any seizure or impoundment operation authorized by this Court’s Order.

Part III, Discussion, is priceless.

"Here, uncontested evidence demonstrates that Bundy continues to violate the Court’s 1998
Permanent Injunction. Bundy himself admits to grazing his cattle on lands both inside and outside
the Allotment in contravention of the Court’s Orders. Doc. #50, Ex. 4, Oct. 23, 2011 Bundy
Deposition. In addition to his own admissions, the United States has presented an abundance of
evidence documenting Bundy’s continued grazing on the Allotment.

Doc. #50, Ex. 2, Ex. 5, Ex. 6, Ex. 7, Ex. 8, Ex. 9, Ex. 13. In light of such flagrant and continuing violations, the Court finds that it has the authority to undertake whatever measures it deems necessary to ensure Bundy’s future compliance with the 1998 Permanent Injunction."

I figure Bundy and his militia are all in violation of at least three of the court orders, contempt proceedings next......I love the rule of law and detest those that hate it, as should we all.

Tea Party Patriots President Martin Reaps $450,000/yr. How lying and fleecing paid a bankrupt maid

very, very well......

Jenny Beth Martin, the super PAC’s chairwoman, oversees all its expenditures, according to organization spokesperson Daniel Broughton, meaning she sets her own $15,000 monthly fee for strategic consulting — payments that have totaled $120,000 since July.

She also draws a salary as president of the Tea Party Patriots’ nonprofit arm — getting more than $272,000 in the 2012 fiscal year, according to the group’s most recent tax filing.

Her twin salaries put her on track to make more than $450,000 this year, a dramatic change in lifestyle for the tea party activist, who had filed for bankruptcy in 2008 and then cleaned homes for a period of time to bring in extra money.

Martin, through Broughton, declined to comment. But Broughton said Martin’s fees could not “objectively be considered unreasonable.”

The Koch Attack On Solar Energy

Source: New York Times Editorial Board

At long last, the Koch brothers and their conservative allies in state government have found a new tax they can support. Naturally it’s a tax on something the country needs: solar energy panels.

For the last few months, the Kochs and other big polluters have been spending heavily to fight incentives for renewable energy, which have been adopted by most states. They particularly dislike state laws that allow homeowners with solar panels to sell power they don’t need back to electric utilities. So they’ve been pushing legislatures to impose a surtax on this increasingly popular practice, hoping to make installing solar panels on houses less attractive.

Fox News' Todd Starnes has Facebook hate post deleted.....can not understand why...DU Jury decide...

I vote to hide it, it is racist, equates immigrants to cattle and mocks the legal officers tasked with enforcing the law, all the while encouraging violent civil unrest.

For starters.

The following is the post of the Christian Crusader of the Fox News cyber world of hate and intolerance:

“Rancher Bundy should’ve told the feds that those were Mexican cows – who came across the border illegally to seek better grazing opportunities. It was an act of love.”

His defence, although DU does not allow one to plead their case, in Starne's own utterly non-sensical writing:

"I realized I had landed in the Facebook gulag when I tried to post our daily Bible verse. However, I was unable to post anything because Facebook had taken great offense to something I had written.

For the record, Facebook has the right to censor — it’s their company. And while they may censor conservative and Christian postings, Facebook is quite welcoming and affirming to leftwing diatribes against Republicans, religion and the Tea Party. I just wish the folks at Facebook were a bit more tolerant — and diverse."

________________

Notice how many times Starnes insists he is a good Christian? Surprised he was not also crying about being "silenced" by the liberal media, although the owner of Facebook is no liberal. Maybe someone else at Fox will pick up the free speech mantle of victimization to thrash about.

The cult like cabal of Fox News is shocking.

The MSM is now like the WWF, full of shit fake, we know it, but we love it as if it was for real.

America is doomed forever to be under the thumb of a media that defines fracking for natural gas as merely injecting sand and water into the ground, delivering the Big Lie in such a believable way, not a twitch.

The American media is officially the enemy of the 99%, with that one big lie they seem to have delivered a declaration of war on the truth.

And now the right wing witchling Laura Ingraham to deliver her shiny big cross version of expertise and truth as defined by ABC news?

What more evidence do people need?

Koch Brothers Confirmed as Huge Owners of Tar Sands Oil Leases - 1.5 Million Acres Estimate

And so there goes the we are not benefiting from our campaign contributions meme of the richest fascists in world history:

"Even without counting possible acreage acquired through such means (partly owned subsidiaries), what’s clear is this: Koch Industries through its wholly owned subsidiaries ranks as the largest leaseholder among U.S. or non-Canadian firms and no lower than the third-largest overall."

A mapping service called GeoScout has compiled figures for Koch that indicate that it has 1.47 million net acres of leases.
