sadoldgirl's JournalSimple question about Bernie's age
Yes, don't give me the usual ageism discrimination.
I have heard and read it all.
It does seem to matter to the older folks a lot and
they know their own weaknesses.
Sure, I wished Bernie would be 50 years old, but it
is not so.Many remember Reagan and his health problems.
I try to look at Bernie's passion and engagement, and tell
them about it, as well as HRC's age as well.
Still, it does not seem to come across very well.
Anybody with good advice?
Just a reminder, though it may not be needed:
I talked to quite a number of people about Bernie, and
some were seriously interested. It turned out that some
had no idea that the main issues right now are the
caucuses or primaries. Many thought about the general
election. If they are Green they would have to change
their registration, and if they are independents they
have to become Dems,- at least in my state.
I am sure all of you know this, but we cannot be sure
that the people we talk to do.
Questions: Have the unions announced
any support? Are they only doing that after
the primary?
Well, I attended a "house party for Bernie" yesterday.
It was arranged by PDA, and there were 28 of us,
which is better than what I had seen for EW.
However, there was not one person under the
age of about 40, and that was a striking difference
to the EW party.
PDA will run a 50 states campaign for Bernie, and they
seem to be pretty well organized. They also managed
to get over $500 from the group (I contributed directly
to Bernie's campaign beforehand), and they organized
for callers, walkers, and more parties. All of it good.
Yet, it still worries me that the age group was so
much on the upper side. When asked about OWS,
we were told that there appears to be no national
organization, which I had hoped for.
So much from the news about one of their Parties.
Question: Do we have new
bumperstickers and perhaps T-shirts??
After all the "Run,Bernie,Run" is outdated
by now. Are we still going through PDA or
is it now directly to the campaign?
Very early, but the electoral
college could be changed by red governed states.
Has anyone heard that they will tie it to congressional
seats?
I heard this was not impossible to achieve, but
I could be wrong.
