Invention May Make Hydrogen a Real Green Contender

Don Pitts | CBC News | Jun 25, 2015

When Canadian fuel cell pioneer Geoffrey Ballard had the idea of "replacing the internal combustion engine — just getting that off the streets," the difficulties seemed overwhelming.

But 30 years after Vancouver-based Ballard Power Systems created its first commercial hydrogen fuel cell, a breakthrough at Stanford University may suddenly make the hydrogen-powered car a serious green contender.

Elon Musk, whose company Tesla Motors has been a leader in battery-powered cars, has scoffed at his hydrogen-fuelled competitors, calling them silly and implying it was a dead-end technology.

But this latest invention out of California may allow hydrogen to give Musk a run for his money...SNIP

Related: Why Elon Musk, Steven Chu and John Doerr hate hydrogen more than anything on Earth!

...The Cartel has spent more than a billion dollars on “doubt” and disinformation campaigns like those shown in the feature film: “Merchants of Doubt”. Whenever the word “hydrogen” or “Fuel Cell” shows up on any blog comment in the world, Companies like Palantir, Axciom, and other web scanning services, relay those mentions to the Cartel bloggers, who immediately descend on that blog to flood it with “hydrogen Sucks” and “Elon Musk is the greatest thing since sliced bread” comments.

Back in the day, John Doerr and his cohorts at Goldman Sachs and McKinsey Consulting flooded Washington, finance newspapers and tip-sheets with whitepapers, articles and buzz-sheets saying: “Afghanistan is the Saudi Arabia of Lithium”, “Over a trillion dollars of lithium found in Afghanistan” ad other related hype. This was based on documents acquired from the Russians who had previously tried, and failed, to take over Afghanistan. That was during the Afghan period in which the U.S. was paying Bin Laden to help screw up the Russians, before Bin Laden turned bad. Little did they suspect that the names: Frank Guistra, Ener1, Severstal and Solyndra would be their downfall...

This is mild compared to what some others say

And Pitt didn't mention the TTIP- Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership or the TISA - Trade in Services Agreement both of which are assured to pass, now that Democrat Obama has fought for the TPA.

Liberal Stephen Lendman has some words for Obama:

Obama is no man of the people. He never was throughout his political career. He serves powerful monied interests exclusively.

As an Illinois state senator, he represented Chicago real estate interests at the expense of Black communities they wanted gentrified. He disgraces the office he holds. He remains a front man for wealth, power and privilege.

Earlier, Partnership for Civil Justice Fund executive director Mara Verheyden-Hilliard called the "defining feature of (his presidency) the eagerness with which it embraced the stunning evisceration of civil rights and liberties that was a hallmark of the Bush administration, and then deepened those outrageous programs. He has successfully counted on the acquiescent silence of the liberals."

His agenda mocks democratic values, rule of law principles and social justice. It includes endless wars, corporate favoritism, anti-populism, harsh crackdowns on nonbelievers and replacing all sovereign independent governments with ones Washington controls...

Israeli hydrogen energy tech feted by EU

Start-Up Israel | David Shamah | June 22, 2015

One of the biggest problems with the adoption of renewable energy as wide-scale power sources is the difficulty and expense in storing energy. Batteries are expensive, heavy, and can only hold a limited amount of energy. According to many industry experts, renewable energy sources like solar and wind power will not be adopted on a wide scale until the storage issue is solved.

מימן

Israeli energy start-up H2energy Now believes it has the storage solution – and the renewable energy source as well – that will enable society to easily adopt alternative energies. Hydrogen power isn’t new – as far back as the late 1700s it was being used experimentally to power machinery – but what is new is the use of radio waves to break down hydrogen and oxygen.

The technology shows such promise, the European Union believes, that it invited H2energy Now to one of the most prestigious tech shows in the world – the Alpine High-tech Venture Forum, sponsored by Eureka, the EU’s R&D framework organization. H2energy Now is the first, and so far only, Israeli company to be invited to the Forum, now in its 15th year...

...H2energy Now’s system uses fresh or saltwater, which is filtered into droplets. Each droplet is “zapped” with radio waves, with a frequency that can “shake up” the hydrogen-water bond sufficiently to separate the two gases. If saltwater is used, the salt just drops out of the water, which evaporates into the two gases (one issue Davidson is still working on is what to do with the huge amounts of salt that would be generated if the system were to be widely adopted).

There is no shortage of Saltwater!

...We ‘lose’ less hydrogen from water than our electrolysis-based competitors do,” said Davidson. “We can operate at 89% efficiency, while they can usually get only 60% of the hydrogen in the water.”..SNIP

World's First Hydrogen Fuel Cell Cargo Trucks Deployed at U.S. Airport

Energy.Gov June 10, 2015

What looks like a golf cart and is capable of pulling 40,000 pounds of cargo, while operating quietly with zero emissions?

The world’s first hydrogen fuel cell-powered ground support vehicle is what. A ribbon-cutting ceremony held at Memphis International Airport on April 9, 2015 marked the start of a two-year demonstration of the world’s first zero-emissions, hydrogen fuel cell powered ground support equipment. Over the two years of real-world operation at Federal Express’s airport hub location, the 15-vehicle fleet is expected to save more than 175,000 gallons of diesel fuel and 1,700 metric tons of carbon dioxide. There are more than 60,000 ground support equipment trucks in North America, representing an important market and opportunity to offer further energy and environmental benefits at airports.

Latham, NY-based developer Plug Power provided the fuel cell systems, which were integrated into the cargo tugs of leading airport utility vehicle developer Charlatte America; hydrogen is supplied by Plug Power’s hydrogen delivery systems. The project is funded through a $2.5 million grant from the Energy Department’s (DOE) Fuel Cell Technologies Office (FCTO), with a matching $2.5 million cost share from private sector partners.

Previous hydrogen and fuel cells R&D funded by DOE has resulted in more than 500 patents, 40 commercial technologies on the market, and 65 emerging technologies anticipated to be in the market in three to five years. Other early market applications enabled by DOE funding—such as fuel cell-based forklifts and backup power—have already resulted in an increase in industry deployment of five to ten times without DOE funding...SNIP

BBC: The Bin Laden Conspiracy

Have we been told the truth about Bin Laden's death?
By Jane Corbin | BBC News | 17 June 2015

A recent controversial account of the death of Osama Bin Laden claims there was a conspiracy at the highest levels of the US and Pakistani government to assassinate him.

I have been investigating al-Qaeda and Bin Laden for the BBC for nearly two decades - a quest which has taken me from the caves of Tora Bora to the high-walled Pakistani compound where he met his bloody end. So is there any truth in this latest theory?

Seymour Hersh, a veteran US investigative journalist, has embarrassed US governments before with revelations about the My Lai massacre in Vietnam and abuses at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.

He laid low for several weeks after a mauling in much of the American press but eventually agreed to speak to me about his article published in the London Review of Books.

Mr Hersh claims that Pakistani intelligence - the ISI - were holding Bin Laden prisoner for nearly six years in the garrison town of Abbottabad...SNIP

The re-enactment parts included us special forces finding dvds of A New Pearl Harbour, as if watching things like that link you to bin laden. It was all very propaganda-like, made for annoying viewing, and made me dislike the BBC somewhat, what with this and the "conspiracy Road trip" bollocks. Not worth the half hour, I'd suggest. Link

The CIA's plot to kill Osama bin Laden: was it a conspiracy?

By Michael Hogan | UK Telegraph | 17 Jun 2015

In May 2011, when a team of US Navy SEALs stormed a compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan and killed the world’s most wanted terror target, it became a definitive moment in Barack Obama’s presidency. Over the past four years, though, doubts about the official account of Osama bin Laden’s death have been raised – to the point where veteran investigative journalist Seymour Hersh has alleged that the whole story was fabricated...

Seymour Hersh Details Explosive Story on Bin Laden Killing & Responds to White House, Media Backlash
Democracy Now | May 12, 2015

Four years after U.S. forces assassinated Osama bin Laden, Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter Seymour Hersh has published an explosive piece claiming much of what the Obama administration said about the attack was wrong. Hersh claims at the time of the U.S. raid, bin Laden had been held as a prisoner by Pakistani intelligence since 2006. Top Pakistani military leaders knew about the operation and provided key assistance.

Contrary to U.S. claims that it located bin Laden by tracking his courier, a former Pakistani intelligence officer identified bin Laden’s whereabouts in return for the bulk of a $25 million U.S. bounty. Questions are also raised about whether bin Laden was actually buried at sea, as the U.S. claimed. Hersh says instead the Navy SEALs threw parts of bin Laden’s body into the Hindu Kush mountains from their helicopter. The White House claims the piece is "riddled with inaccuracies." Hersh joins us to lay out his findings and respond to criticism from government officials and media colleagues

The Jersey Girls - Are These Four 9/11 Widows Kooky Conspiracy Theorists?

9/12/2003--Two years after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, thousands of families are still wondering what could have been done to save their loved ones. In "Unanswered Questions," NOW profiles four New Jersey widows demanding answers to questions about what our government knew before and after the terrorist attacks — and what's being done to protect us today.

Mindy Kleinberg, Kristen Breitweiser, Patty Casazza and Lori Van Auken were widowed by the September 11 terrorist attacks. The four came together as they sought answers and explanations for the tragedy. In their perseverance they helped push for the establishment of an independent commission to investigate 9/11, a request Congress fulfilled last fall.

(*The Government didn't want an investigation into the biggest crime against the US in history? Does that make sense to you?)

All four women are mothers and all four lost their husbands in the World Trade Center attacks. Lorie Van Auken and Mindy Kleinberg's husbands were both as securities traders. Mindy's and Patty Casazza's husbands worked for the Cantor Fitzgerald group, which lost 658 employees. Kristen Breitweiser's husband was a vice president at Fiduciary Trust. The women all reside in New Jersey. They and others in that area touched by September 11 are featured in author Gail Sheehy's new book MIDDLETOWN, AMERICA: ONE TOWN'S PASSAGE FROM TRAUMA TO HOPE.
