Hormone therapy improves mental health for transgender youths, a new study finds.

Transgender youths reported more life satisfaction and fewer symptoms of depression and anxiety after receiving gender-affirming hormone therapy for two years, according to a new study.

The research, published Wednesday in the New England Journal of Medicine, evaluated 315 transgender youths between 12 to 20 years old, with an average age of 16, over the course of two years while they were being treated with gender-affirming hormone therapy.

The researchers are a group of physicians and professors associated with universities and children’s hospitals in Chicago, Boston and Los Angeles. The study was supported by a grant from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development.

The researchers used scales that measured depression and anxiety, positive emotions and sense of life satisfaction, and appearance congruence — meaning how much a trans person feels their external appearance aligns with their gender identity. Participants rated each of these factors numerically.

Poll: Parents Don't Want Schools to Focus on Culture Wars

More than two thirds of voters and parents are not worried about teachers indoctrinating kids, pushing a “woke” agenda on them, or teaching “critical race theory,” as some Republican lawmakers and far-right parent groups have been accusing schools of doing for more than a year.

That’s according to a December 2022 poll by the American Federation of Teachers, which collected information from more than 1,500 voters, including 558 parents, about their priorities and areas of concern about public education. The participants in the national poll were evenly split on the political spectrum.

Fighting indoctrination, the “woke” agenda or the teaching of CRT are common reasons cited by Republican lawmakers for introducing or supporting challenges to books, and legislation that restricts the rights of students to learn certain lessons about race and racism or limit LGBTQ students’ rights in school.

“In states that have any kind of MAGA control, they’re ignoring what parents want,” said Randi Weingarten, AFT president, referring to states where right-wing policymakers are the dominant influence.

I just have to pat myself on the back.

I usually hammer meat. But this time I followed the pork tenderloin instructions and had the most delightful, tender and succulent tenderloin. I marinated it in Italian dressing over night, it was made with balsamic vinegar and apple cider vinegar combined, olive oil and a packet of dry mix. Then I seared it in a cast iron pan, roasted it in a 425° oven with onion, carrots and some of the marinade for 25 minutes to an internal temperature of 160°. A lot of people say 145°, but I'm old school and will not eat medium rare pork. Omg, delicious!!! Moist, tender and sooo scrummy! Oh, and after I took the pork out to rest, I put the carrots and onions back in for 15 minutes.

The Beatles song that changed Dolly Parton's life.

Dolly Parton has recently announced a collaboration with Paul McCartney on her forthcoming album, which has made a host of music fans giddy with excitement, but perhaps none more so than Parton herself — a devoted Beatles fan. Even though their sound was incomparable to her favoured genre, country, The Beatles did something to the young singer which Parton couldn’t explain.

When Beatlemania exploded, Parton was only a few years younger than The Beatles, and they were firmly the band of her generation. Despite coming from different corners of the world, Parton instantly connected to the Fab Four following the release of their hit single, ‘I Want To Hold Your Hand’.

Following the release of the track in the United States in 1964, ‘I Want To Hold Your Hand’ initially landed at 45. However, it slowly climbed to the top of the singles chart and became the first track by The Beatles to achieve this feat, but it wouldn’t be their last. Parton was one of the many who couldn’t get enough of the sound, which soundtracked a pivotal time in her life.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Parton named the track as the first song she obsessed over and said: “I loved all kinds of songs, and I grew up singin’ all sorts of songs, but the first time I ever remember totally being jarred and feelin’ all kinds of emotions was when that song came out. I couldn’t get enough of it.”

Even more reason to love Dolly Parton!

Do we really need to link to twitter?

The same videos can be found on YouTube and you can screen shot or download pictures and memes and post them without adding to musk's pockets.

If you need help learning how to post pictures, take a screenshot or locate videos, please ask. Musky gets $$ each time you link or click on a twit post.
