Rev. Barber: We are witnessing the birth pangs of a Third Reconstruction

I have been, well, just reading, unable to find stability under foot..while reading various sites, I came across Rev. Barbers words at Think Progress..a history lesson if you will, insight, and truth, hard to come by these days...

I do not know who to trust - so I guess I will just have to trust my conscience...this is a good read...moving forward

From Rev. Barber

We need a moral movement to revive the heart of American democracy and build a Third Reconstruction for our time. This work is not easy, and it will not be completed quickly. But we know what is required to move forward together.

I’ve traveled to 22 states this year to train local leadership in moral fusion organizing and conduct Moral Revival services. This network of state-based moral coalitions will host a National Watch Night Service on December 31st, with the event in Washington, D.C., livestreamed to local gatherings across the nation.

As formerly enslaved people were invited to enlist in a struggle for freedom on January 1st, 1863, we will invite all people of conscience to enlist in a Moral Revival Poor People’s Campaign throughout 2017 and 2018.

(I am not religious, but I do know right from wrong....what a good man Rev. Barber)

the first time a director of the storied agency has been dismissed. - 1993 -

Defiant FBI Chief Is Fired by President : Law enforcement: Alleged ethical abuses by Sessions are cited as reason for dismissal. He refused to resign.

The FBI director is appointed to a 10-year term but serves at the pleasure of the President.

WASHINGTON — FBI Director William S. Sessions, who stubbornly refused to resign despite Justice Department ethics findings that he abused his office, was fired Monday by President Clinton--the first time a director of the storied agency has been dismissed

Clinton and Atty. Gen. Janet Reno, steeling the Administration against claims that the decision was politically motivated, used unmistakably blunt language to describe Sessions' failings. Reno "has reported to me in no uncertain terms that he can no longer effectively lead the bureau and law enforcement community," Clinton said, adding that he fully agreed with her recommendation to replace Sessions immediately.

Bill Clinton cited the six-month-old highly critical report on Sessions' conduct by the Justice Department's Office of Professional Responsibility, which investigated the director in the final year of the George Bush Administration.l

Much more at the link....basically misused perks off office....(seems to be no relation to POS jeff sessions)

Be well ALL...

PSSSTTT - There is a great story at the link above also re: the altright - Julian Zelizer and I had the pleasure of interviewing historian Rick Perlstein on the subject of the “alt-right.” Fringe movements on the right have been around a long time, and Perlstein has studied these movements deeply, starting with his classic book Before The Storm

Big Money Conservatives Support Republican Atty Genls

Dark money efforts of the Republican Attorneys General Association to elect a.g.'s who will carry the spear for the Kochs in fights against environmental regulation and other government work for the broader public interest.

RAGA has already spent hundreds of thousands of dollars this election cycle in support of Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes (R) and, through its Mountaineers Are Always Free state PAC, West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey (R), though the group claims both races are “safe for the incumbent party.”

Thus far in the 2015–2016 cycle, RAGA has disclosed about $19 million in contributions received.

So where did RAGA get its money? More than $2.4 million — about 13 percent — came from Koch Industries, Murray Energy, the American Petroleum Institute, Exxon Mobil, the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity, and other fossil fuel interests. Another nearly $1.4 million came from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which receives a significant amount of its funds from fossil fuel companies and Koch-backed nonprofits.
Attorney general elections don’t garner big headlines. Most Americans likely can’t even name their state attorney general. But these people play a major role in enforcing — or fighting — environmental laws.
