The nuclear effect in the Senate

Senate Democrats took the dramatic step Thursday of eliminating filibusters for most nominations by presidents, a power play they said was necessary to fix a broken system but one that Republicans said will only rupture it further.

Democrats used a rare parliamentary move to change the rules so that federal judicial nominees and executive-office appointments can advance to confirmation votes by a simple majority of senators, rather than the 60-vote supermajority that has been the standard for nearly four decades.

We are all Underground now!

I was thinking about the name Democratic Underground and it is so relevant to where we are nationally and many places locally. We have a job to do once we dust ourselves off, run for office or support someone that is. It needs to happen at the local level city council, state house, dog catcher if it is an office that exists we have to have someone running for it.

I myself am studying what is available near me probably city council.

Never give up!

I went to bed last night feeling sick...

The IED that went off in NY reminded me of other attacks I have heard. You set off a smaller device to lure in first responders only to detonate a much larger or several much larger devices. This maximizes the terror and casualties.

Why it scared me so much in Oklahoma? An attack like that would be used for political gain by assholes and linked to ISIS would make it worse in perception. They would shout refugees! It horrifies me to think we are a single attack away from losing because I have little faith in people seeing through the bullshit.

Jim Comey comments

I honestly think because of the outrage of the Lynch, Clinton meeting on the airplane Jim was asked to make the statement he made concerning Secretary Clinton. Lynch had all but recused herself from the case and a statement of facts had to be made public. He went too far in my mind with his scolding but he had to make that announcement the people needed some closure on the matter. We got what we needed which was no charges moving on is a good next step. This could have gone south on the party in a big way fortunately it didn't. Let the GOP run around with their hair on fire now it makes them look childish. We have bigger fish to fry.

This is going to be in the news soon I wanted to share info about Portion Marking

You may start hearing about "Portion Marking" in the next few days. I wanted to share what the manual says about this so you know what is being discussed.

Portion Marking

The title or subject of a classified document is marked with the appropriate classification abbreviation in parentheses -- (TS), (S), (C), or (U) immediately following and to the right of the title or subject. All documents containing information that requires control markings, regardless of classification, format, or medium, shall be portion marked. The overall classification of a document is equal to the highest classification level of any one portion found in the document.

Each portion of a classified document is to be marked with the appropriate classification abbreviation in parentheses immediately before the beginning of the portion. If the portion is numbered or lettered, place the abbreviation in parentheses between the letter or number and the start of the text. A portion is ordinarily defined as a paragraph, but also includes subjects, titles, graphics, tables, charts, bullet statements, sub-paragraphs, classified signature blocks, bullets and other portions with slide presentations and the like.

Portions of U.S. documents containing foreign government information are marked to reflect the foreign country of origin as well as the appropriate classification, for example, (U.K.-C). Portions of U.S. documents containing extracts from NATO documents are marked to reflect "NATO" or "COSMIC" as well as the appropriate classification, for example, (NATO-S) or (COSMIC-TS). Further information is available at Foreign Government Classified Information.

We had better start thinking of the long game

I keep quite and read here mostly but the discord has really got me worried as of late. I was all for Bernie still am holding out hope the powers that be in the party change their minds. I see it as a 1 in 3 chance Hillary is in big trouble with the FBI. I say this with experience and knowledge of some of what's going on. She screwed up big time but it may be too late to fix it so we are stuck riding it out. What I see happening is she will get the nomination and choose a reasonable running mate. We had better think long and hard then get behind that ticket 100% to win in November. If the shit hits the fan come Febuary or March then the VP can step in.

The other path is we don't GOTV and Trump wins period we all lose at that point. It will take 8-10 years to recover think how long it has taken to get to now since Shrub left. Is it perfect nope not even close is it better I think so.

Hillary my still yet surprise us and pull through it all ,history has shown once in office her approval ratings go up. She may not be perfect but unless something changes she is all that we have.

So think it through think about the long game.

Ok I have been reading up on the Email saga and still unsure what magnitude it really is.

I know a lot of folks here are broken down on this issue based on whose camp they belong to. I just want to know for myself how real or imagined the fallout will be. I have read everything that I can find on the web from every angle and with the filter of my Navy Intel experience have come to a few questions and very few solid answers.

1. Who had authority to approve the use for State Department officials to use a private email server system?

2. What were the systems administrators plans to comply with FOIA?

3. Why was a permanent IG not in place during Secretary Clinton's tenure, and why was one appointed immediately following her departure?

I believe the person that will ultimately take the biggest "hit" will be Patrick Kennedy and that is because he failed our President. In his handling of all of this, Secretary Clinton will also be hurt. My overall question is what will be the magnitude 2.0 - 9.9

This release today makes wonder how deep this will end up.

http://www.standardnewswire.com/news/2606311312.html

Mr. Kennedy would be the FBI interview I would of everyone involved like to be a fly on the wall for. I think his will be most telling.

If a response to this is left I would prefer it be based on which camp you are in and fact based.

I supported Bernie in our primary and now support Secretary Clinton as we move forward towards formal nomination. I just honestly don't want things to blowup later on and have it shoved in my face by family that would love to gloat.

Ok before we are at each other's proverbial throats tonight

Let's attempt to have some fun and be nice to the "other side"

To play you must state three things you like about both Hllary and Bernie.

Also see if you can find a quote from each that made you smile and proud they are on your side.

1. That climate change is real
2. Minimum wage is too low
3. All people should be treated equally and fairly

"…freedom is never granted. It is earned by each generation… in the face of tyranny, cruelty, oppression, extremism, sometimes there is only one choice. When the world looks to America, America looks to you, and you never let her down… I have never lost faith in America's essential goodness and greatness…" - Hillary Clinton

"What happens in Syria, for example, there's some thought about this. When you have drought, when people can't grow their crops, they're going to migrate into cities and when people migrate into cities and when they don't have jobs, there's going to be a lot more instability, a lot more unemployment and people will be subject to the types of propaganda that Al Qaeda and ISIS are using right now and so where you have discontent you have instability, that's where problems arise and certainly without a doubt, a climate change will lead to that." - Bernie Sanders
