Most probably Bernie won the popular vote in Iowa. However his voters are concentrated
for example in college towns and urban areas.
A primary system could have played to his strengths.

What is it with people who want us to believe that covering more people without rationing care
will cost less to the average person or even to the entire system?
How exactly does that work?
In every single payer system, there's always some rationing of health care. Does a 90 year old need this expensive treatment that might prolong life a couple of months etc?
If you cut provider reimbursement, how do you prevent them from accepting cash only or a premium tier of private insurance only?
