am i taking crazy pills again?

http://www.democraticunderground.com/110712458

these Hillary supporters are certain that they've debunked the meme that Hillary is supported by big banks simply because they've discovered that the list that mentions Citibank as her biggest supporter isn't the corporation supporting her, its just that many of it's employees are supporting her!

therefore, Hillary is not supported by big banks.

I'm sorry, it makes no sense to me, am I crazy? or are they just grasping straws and covering their eyes? its still a fact that her top contributors are at least ASSOCIATED with big banks.

I just don't get it. did they really debunk the meme or are they grasping straws?

So I'll be volunteering for Bernie

but this is the first time I've ever done anything like this! I'm excited and nervous. I wanted to ask those of you who have done this kind of thing before how should I go about doing it?

sadly, because of anxieties I was only able to sign up for one or two things but I thought I'd be brave for Bernie and so I also signed up to do phone calls! what should I expect? do I get a list of numbers? what's the best time to call folks to talk politics?

altogether, with your experience, what should a newbie volunteer like myself know before going out there and endorsing my candidate of choice? how should I approach the subject with strangers? gah!/so many questions in my head!

thanks for your help in advance

Satoru Iwata you will be sorely missed.

There goes a man that was kind, personable and humble. a CEO of a multimillion dollar corporation that did not convey that kind of ego. he took a pay cut so he didn't have to lay people off. this man was pretty great.

thanks for everything Iwata. Sincerely.

To hell with it!

I get the feeling that people who want Hillary to win instead of Bernie simply want her in because she's the "safe bet" and they just wanna beat the GOP to the house.

As if our rights and changing this nation just takes a backseat to the chest pounding competition of politics of the red vs blue.

To hell with the fact that big money corrupts and bends our government to its whim! To hell with the fact that Hillary is directly funded by the powers that do that!

We want Hillary to win!

To hell with the fact that regarding a financial plan, Hillary will "get back to us on that" in 10 days! She's had since before 2008 but she just needs 10 more days. For what? To get a quick cheat sheet of what to say in front of those crowds?

Oh and she'll remember to say it in that specific crowd's most familiar accent! Anything to cater to the voters of the day.

To hell with the fact that we're all tired of these perpetual wars in the middle east, we need to give the enemy exactly what they want! A eternal war between Islam and Christianity! A war that will not only be fought over there but on our homeland soil as well!

A vote for Hillary is a vote for Citigroup Inc, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase & Co, Morgan Stanley, Time Warner, Lehman Brothers, 21st Century Fox (I thought we hated faux news?), Ernst & Young, Merrill Lynch, Credit Suisse Group, Corning Inc (bulletproof glass anyone? Sounds useful for those wars to come.)

To hell with trying to actually change it all for the better with Bernie. Let's just pick the low hanging fruit for a few more years instead of shaking the whole tree. I mean its slower, but at least we win the house! Yes!!!

To hell with concern for changing any of that! We just want the democrats to win! "Safe bets" for now and forever! Anything it takes to win the house! Right?

You know what? To hell with it!

this new york times article

www.nytimes.com/2015/07/09/upshot/why-bernie-sanderss-momentum-is-not-built-to-last.html?referrer=

if I were to analyze this article, I would ascertain that it's simply repeating the "bernie can't appeal to black voters" rhetoric we keep hearing. I know its not an accurate gauge of the black populous but all of my black coworkers are distrusting of Hillary and warming towards Bernie. to me that means it isn't impossible for him to gain that vote. he just needs to go campaign in those areas of interest asap so the media can shut up with this. ugh.

how many Hillary supporters are this good at closing their ears and going "lalala" to the facts?

anyways, what's your take on this Bernie group? I need some wisdom regarding this.

Why I prefer Bernie to Hillary.

Bernie has had the same position for 40 years, even though times have changed.

No "evolving" was necessary.

Bernie was an activist first and a politician second. This is a man that knows the grit and struggle of the people and has strived for progress alongside them. No silver spoons in his mouth. To this day, he has that activist fire, the revolutionary spirit. Something is wrong with the system and it still needs to be changed! He needs the people as much as we need him in the house.

He admits he cannot do it alone. He's a man that understands a government only has as much power as the people will give it. He is unchanging. Has not wavered from this strong message in his heart that all are equal, we always have been and we need to make big changes, now.

He doesn't use big money, he's funded directly by the people. He doesn't change his voice to cater to audiences in the places he speaks. He's Bernie. He's real.

People speak of Bernie's record as if he hasn't done much. Well, consider what he's given priority to, and think about why that is. Ever since he started, he's been fighting the hardest battles that our nation is the SLOWEST to change. Women's rights, Income Inequality, Poverty, Unemployment, Rights to Healthcare and Education, LGBT rights, it goes on. This is why his list of achievements doesn't seem very long.

You see, he's trying to take down the biggest obstacles while others pick the low hanging fruit. (Don't get me wrong, at least they're still picking fruit. But we can take the whole tree if we all actually work together.) His record would be much bigger if our nation was as progressive as he is, but no. Our government is corrupted by greed, big money and people in power and his agenda is not in their best interests.

How can Hillary make changes to a government controlled by big money, when she is funded by big money?

I understand that Hillary has reputation and is likely more well received in the house and everyone is her buddy there because she's shook hands and smiled for years!

But, I don't want a friendly president in the white house. I don't want someone that will nod and say "yes" to the "right people" just to stay in power. I want someone to clean the place out, I want someone to change the whole system because they're unhappy with the system. I want the guy that everyone scoffed at for being "crazy", I want the guy that doesn't back down even when everyone in the room disagrees with him. What is right is right.

The system doesn't work for the people, and I don't want a president that uses that system to their benefit without thinking about how it diminishes the voice of the people. We don't need another president that will play by the rules. We need a president who wants to change the rules, just like FDR.

We can't afford to play these money games anymore people, like I said before, big money is what has slowed our nation's progress so much. You want real change? Stop with the "safe bet" of Clinton and go all or nothing with Bernie. If you just want the Democrats to win then just go ahead and rely on Hillary. If that's all that matters to you then be my guest.

That said, this is my first original post in the GD: Primaries forum so hello. Also, I do not intend to be an uninformed voter. An educated voter is the BEST thing for our democracy, so PLEASE, if there is anything you feel I should know about Hillary then share the facts and nothing more. My post here was a post of passion for what I feel Bernie can do for us. This is not intended to be an attack on Hillary, just an invigorated telling of how I feel about the two.

Thanks for reading.

Where to watch the CNN interview?

Hey Bernie fans, I'm wondering where I could go to watch the recent interview with Bernie on CNN? Thanks!

Just want to make sure I'm not taking crazy pills

So I'm engaged in conversation on a board elsewhere about politics and I brought up how Bernie Sanders is my pick!

everyone in the group is normally not very political and they're impressed with Bernie now. Except for that one user.... there's always that one sour grape you know what I mean?

anyways he replies first with this:

You might want to check what kind of views he has on military monitoring, gun control etc before you decide. He has voted against some very important things and that is where he lost my vote

so I replied:

his only views on gun control are banning assault weapons and higher requirements to be eligible to purchase a firearm. what's wrong with that?

the military monitoring thing I am fine with, but I can understand if others want more military presence elsewhere. even though I think we need to stay out of other countries business. that's my view though.

admittedly, I wasn't quite sure what he was referring to with "military monitoring" so I took a light and assuming stance on that.

then out of nowhere he posts this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernie_Sanders

Read what is listed under "Tenure".

so I read that. told him that it sounded terrific and asked if I was missing anything? so please Bernie group, read what is under tenure and tell me if I'm missing anything? am I taking crazy pills and did I inform this citizen well enough? he hasn't replied in about an hour since I told him I see nothing wrong with what he presented me.

thanks!
